RDR 2 is already ahead visually of the Next-Gen games that will come out in the next 3-4 years.

It's also entertaining how the same people who hate everything with Sony's name on it are always triggered by the same people who "dare" to praise anything good in Sony's games which everyone who's not a blind fanboy can see with his/her own eyes. :messenger_winking:

One of the prettiest games I played on my PS4, can't wait to jump back in on PC one I finish building my new rig.

The word is very well crafted full of little details, and will hold on well even next gen, but the characters and NPCs already looked dated the day the game came out.

I think RDR2 looks better than most everything right now. But to say that it looks better than games not yet released requires one of these.

No. It looks incredible for open world but:
Death Stranding looks better. yes, I know it's empty but characters are best I've ever seen. So is the landscape
And Uncharted 4 also looks better than rdr2.
TLOU2 too.

Rdr2 looks good but not THAT good.

Didn't know they let you put pictures of yourself up here.

Its ok, I'd be embarrassed too after throwing around baseless accusations to further my stupid fanboy narrative 🤷🏻‍♂️
You are the one who first attacked anyone who dared to say a Sony game looked better by calling people who dared think a Sony game looked better as "triggered".And this is something you do in almost every thread you post.

So yeah don't play the victim here.

How would you define a world that isn't static? Any examples of current games that do it well?
Battlefield 4, Crysis, Far Cry 2, Just Cause 2 - those do a decent to good job of having a dynamic world with fire propagation, destructible environments, dynamic vegetation, etc. And those are all old games. It seemed like that was the direction games were moving until the Xbox One and PS4 came out and their anemic CPU cores essentially moved gaming towards visuals 1st, physics a very distant second.

I just booted it back up on my PC for the first time in a long time.

Not sure I agree.

It is a very very good looking game. Great looking game. But you can see where last gen concessions had to be made within their engine to accommodate hardware limitations

game looks gerat, does it look better then Demon's Souls? i dont think so. Graphics are alot of things, art direction is one of them for example. You will never get all the people behind you with a statement like that.
Also your video is overly sharpened. I dont like it. Also everything looks very very Videogamery. Its a much better GTA5 and just incredible that this runs on last gen consoles. But so is TLOU2 for example. A game i prefer, also very videogamery artstyle but not overly sharpened. I enjoy it more.
3-4 years is a good possibility that we get a Naughty Dog game for PS5 and i would be willing to make a bet that the next naughty dog game is more visually pleasing to the majority of people compared to the video you posted.

But yes, RDR2 looks bonkers.

Game graphics and worlds from here on out be will be dictated on the game's development budget and talent, not on the hardware it runs on.

95% of even AAA games will not come close to maximizing the potential of whatever hardware it runs on.

I played this in native 4k on the x1x. Looked absolutely incredible. Much better than cyberpunk with all bells and whistles on my pc.
I remember when Sony promoted that Red Dead PS4 Pro and it sold out. The digital foundry video came out that night detailing how much better it looked on X1X compared to the highly promoted PS4 Pro version. Native 4K?!? HOW?!? I love Digital Foundry.

It's like predicting the future, you will be wrong when you look back to what you've originally thought about the future.

It looks great, especially considering its open world and the attention to detail. However we're only just beginning this gen.

RDR2 came in 5 years into the generation where devs are familiar with the devkits and can push their limits much better than at launch.

On another note its entertaining how praise of any game not Sony published triggers the same people.
First post in the thread mentioning Sony published games. Go fish your console wars elsewhere.

Point still stands. He praised a game not Sony published and it clearly triggered you guys. But try playing victim 😉

Edit: And you didn't add anything to the thread. Just came to war with your buddy. Very transparent 👏👏👏

they never patched the downgrades?
LOD and light sources no (the last one even carried over the PC version), they claimed they fixed the AO but in current version it's still massively inferior (aka less aggressive) than version 1.00.

Here 47 pages with all the info you need.

The game just looks much worse updated, not nearly as impressive and cohesive to the point there might be something else at play.

Too bad the AA sucks. I can’t play it on PC because the AA is either too blurry or it causes weird artifacts around the models which looks horrible.

We won't be seeing a game with this much detail and effort put into it until their next game. No one in the industry is at this level of detail. unless it's some kind of sim based game like MS Flight sim.

It's the complete package. Sure, there are games with better characters or facial details, better draw distances, better lighting.. But none that do all of it as well as RDR2 does on a moderately powerful rig.

Cyberpunk felt disappointing because RDR2 spoiled us in a good way. The world might look better, but it feels dead in comparison.

I've only played this on XSX and I already think it's gorgeous the way it is. Can't even imagine how good it looks on better pc hardware. Amazing game.

This game proves yet again that budget, time and talent trumps horsepower. Too bad few companies are in position to enter such endeavors.

The price is one game in a whole gen with no effort in post release single player content like zombie expansion in the first game.

I think it’s fair to say they made the entire game just to rope you in to the MP content due to how much money they made in GTAV.

Did Rockstar ever fix that Vaseline effect on PS4 Pro? I remember having to back the res down to 1080p to get rid of that.

With a new gen just starting, I think it will look dated relatively quickly.

Its more amazing because its open world and looks better than many narrow hallway and walking simulator type games that seem to get endless praise by Sonygaf.

Like others have pointed out the lighting and some of the character models are not the best but overall a great accomplishment.

I think Cyberpunk2077 is far more advanced and better looking in some areas, just wish it was as polished as RDR2 overall.

I love RDR2, but im sure more current games look better at max settings on pc. What sets RDR2 and GTAV above everyone else is the little details that add to the realism, not to mention the random stuff that can happen with the A.I

The open world is so realized and organic it's crazy, Arthur Morgan is also one of the best characters to come out of a game for sure. Too bad they forgot to make the gameplay fun. Arthur's character and how pretty the game looked (altho imo its not the best looking game around) carried it for me, I just wanted to know what would end up happening.

I didn't bother with side stuff/hunting/fishing whatever because it was all dull and unfun no matter what you were doing, I had a good time with the game but will probably never replay it.

Hopefully with their next game we can have the best of worlds, if it's GTA VI finally I can guarantee it'll be way more fun than this.
