Cyberpunk 2077 currently looks really bad on PS5 (not a shitpost).

I could not agree less with the OP. I've been really pleasantly surprised how good this is running on PS5. It's looks fantastic and runs smooth as can be.
Playing on LG CX and HDR looking good as soon as I switched on after realised it wasn't on by default. Very happy so far. Was not expecting miracles, expectations exceeded.

I've seen videos of the game running on PS4 Pro and it looked decent in action. I'm not gonna take one blurry screenshot as proof that the game "looks really bad."

Usually when people say games look like shit they look perfectly fine on my setup. I grew up with NES games though, so I've played games that literally look like shit smeared on a wall.

Glad I didn't buy this yet...looks and runs like an absolute clusterfuck from all I've seen in the past hour.

The argument about 'oh it's backwards compatibility mode' on PS5....what about GoT or Spiderman, or heck even HZD, they all dump on this bugfest graphically on PS5 even if they're played on a base PS4 and they didn't take 8 years to develop either.

Might pick it up for half price in a year or so but honestly no hype or desire for this one in this state. It's an embarrassment, to be honest.

No idea what your talking about, looks great on Series X

It looks the same as on PS5 on streams, probably dropping a bit more frames than PS5 version as usual though, maybe a slightly lower res too, we'll see the comparisons.

But I think you're right, it looks okay. For PS4 / XBO versions, it's good enough. At least it's smooth on next gen consoles.

The youtube footage looks "ok" for the most part. And that's with youtube destroying the image quality even more.

I am seeing people post clips on Twitter of the game running on PS4 and taking 20 seconds (literally) to load textures on a building in one part of the city. Not saying it is as bad as the OP says, but there is more going on here than just one blurry screenshot.

Even on PC at 4K it looks softer than your average game at native res.

Not sure I am seeing this. Maybe it is my biased eyes, though. Playing on a pretty decent mid-range 1440p monitor, 5900X CPU and 3080 GPU. All RTX turned on and settings cranked, the game is absolutely gorgeous. Honestly, it is the best looking game I have played on PC so far, and I gotta put it ahead of Demon's Souls on PS5.

I am really curious to see what they bring over to the console NG version of the game. If they could pull off the RT lighting and RT reflections even on a low-mid equivalent setting, that would be huge. Adds a LOT to the image.

Which would this look and play better on? PS5 or Xbox one X? These are the two I own. Not sure if it's possible for it to look better on the one X but still going to ask.

Check your PS5 HDR settings. This vid may help.

Also, try toggling off motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration, etc... in the games settings to see if it improves IQ.

I think it looks decent on PS5. I can't wait for nextgen patch, but I'm also gonna complete this game at least 3 times.

the frame rate can't be as unstable as it is on series x can it?

So I was not imagining things, thought it's just my head, not sure to what extend actually VRR covers it.

But game is good almost 8 hours of play time, feels like I just started.

I think it looks decent on PS5. Better than on XSX at least. I can't wait for nextgen patch, but I'm also gonna complete this game at least 3 times.

XSX Vs. PS5:

And also this, XSX version is washed out for me too, even with HDR.

Interesting. PS5 version looks lightly higher res than XSX as usual. If you look at the tattoo on first pic, it's less blurry on PS5 (the girl's face has details on PS5 with nose and eyes, not on XSX). And at 03:20 for example it's easier to read "LIVE" on the collar on PS5 pic.

That's close, but XSX version is slightly blurrier.

I edited my post, cause a lot of comments on that video says it's manipulated with contrast.
Don't wanna spread misinformation, if it's true.

Jackie's hand is really throwing me off.

Gotta be honest, the frame rate so far is smooth on PS5, but the image quality especially the texture resolution isn't good. Both PS5 and the game itself really need the true next gen patch.

Fair enough. I doubt manipulating contrast can lead to blur the image like that though, tattoo for example would still look blurrier on XSX. But we'll get the comparisons in time. Both versions look pretty close anyway.

For a PS4 version I'd say it looks pretty good, I'm not sure what you expected. Take the same screenshot on a high end PC, it will look roughly the same.

Now if you ask me, the game itself isn't really a looker outside of some light effects. It isn't easy to make cities look beautiful. The countryside from Witcher 3 or Tsushima will always look aesthetically more pleasing... Cities aren't that beautiful, that's by design...

It will mostly look good at night with a lot of light effects and rain or puddles, a bit like London in Watch Dogs Legion. Certainly not in daylight.

If that video is real then wtf??? It looks washed out as hell and the textures look even worse on Series X... I thought they were running PS4 Pro and One X versions? If that was the case the Series X should have the better version. Something's wrong here.

Lol dude, you know whats sucks? Not showing console footage prior to release. It is so beyond me how ppl like you are gonna defend CDP when they spit in your face. Yea, not showing console release was a weird move and now I know why.
But they did show PS4 Pro version.

I snap few pic in the OT, where are textures of absolutely abysmal quality...

Not saying it is bad for a PS4 version in fact NC is aesthetically magnificent, the vibe is really there. That said, it's the inconsistency bugging me, like Jackie's texture-free hand in the screenshot. Hope the next-gen patch can come sooner.

Yes, I don't know why people say they didn't show console versions, they did recently. There's nothing to hide actually, they look good. At least close enough to the PC version. If anything, high end PC gamers are the ones who could be disappointed, it's not a looker on PC either, at least in daylight with no rain.

But as I said, in my opinion, it's impossible to make cities like that look good in daylight, they don't look good in daylight in real life either lol.

It's a lot easier to make beaches, seas and countryside look good...

Yeah RT just takes it up a notch. A small but important one I think. Shadows, lighting and reflections really make this game.

I doubt they patch tons of textures in the games, it will be more about bugs and framerate. It's an open world game, those aren't generally the best looking games overall, it's really hard to make everything look perfect in an open world game as complex as this one.

I hear your complain, but I think the hype went a bit too much through the roof with this one...

So I started up playing....and well it does not really look good. Like let's say passable 2017 game, when X1X came out. I would say that Witcher 3 looks considerable better. I think the closest thing which is to this is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and that looked better. Also why I am mentioning Deus Ex, fine people of that Polish company who is responsible for those Czech voices in MD (and that's not localisation everyone got them) is also responsible for translation to Czech for this game and it's nothing short of terrible. Formal language with some sort of edgy/folk version of the words, mixing relentlessly formal/non-formal speech and yeah, I quickly switched to full English.

Here are screens, pretty terrible, if you ask me.

Dem textures:

Insane Metal Insane Metal Take a look

Also want to support OP from shitting on it/him/her, it's how the game look.

Which makes me think: Turn of Chromatic abberation, last pic of first quote is when you leave it turned on, I though my eayes are acting up in that moment.

No I doubt the next-gen patch would be merely about bugs and framerate (and the game is running rather smoothly at 60 fps on ps5 already). At least it will be similar fashion like Spider-man remastered.

And I am still hyped and the hype is real for the game, :p

Game often looks flat even on PC.

Also, outside of technical visuals... I find the game to be kinda ugly. The models, the coloring, the art design and the overall aesthetic leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't get how this is the same team that did Witcher III... Maybe fantasy is just their thing.

I can't tell if you're serious. Have you experienced it on a high-end PC? It's legitimately amazing.

No, I watched multiple streams, I wouldn't say it looks amazing. It looks good at night with more lights and water for reflections for sure, especially with RT (which tanks the framerate hard by the way...). But amazing it is not... Which is par for the course, open world games usually aren't the most beautiful ones, especially in cities.

The art style and overall aesthetic isn't very pleasing, but I think for the direction they wanted to go, for the Cyberpunk universe, it fits relatively well.

I kinda agree. But it's also a bit by design. Cyberpunk style is about kitsch and excess... Night City is not supposed to be the most beautiful place at all lol.

PS5 is already looking really good at variable 4K 60fps.

Yeah I know. The silky smooth framerate, the lighting, the aesthetic. All looks pretty good to me, not to mention it’s a last gen BC game. Focus on one single deficiency in lieu of everything else done right seems just seems 🤔

Can’t speak for XsX as some vids are indeed showing poor results, could be fud.

Agreed. Having seen the game maxed (all settings maxed with RT etc) on my brothers pc it’s almost not possible to go back to the console version the game is a blurry mess and so much more buggy on console

I’m pretty sure I will end up waiting for the next gen patch. I hope it has a big impact though seriously this game looks like it’s running at 1080p.

Guess it was a good decision to skip for a little while. I planned to not pick it up as I felt this needed to be experienced on next gen. So waiting for next gen patch to drop :messenger_ok:

It's the PS4 version so it won't be a looker, but I think it looks okay on streams. At least it's smooth.

To be fair, it looks average on every platform, especially since very few PCs can even run it with RT and keep a close to 60 fps framerate. Everybody is angry about the performance on the streams. Even DLSS isn't a solution, it makes the game look bad like on Watch Dogs Legion : I watched a PC streamer earlier getting mad trying every setting and none worked to get a decent framerate, outside of DLSS, but it made the game look like dogshit he said.

Actually, if Gerstmann's opinion is true, it's quite a bit smoother on PS5 than on his PC with a 2080 Ti : looking at the mirror put the game in single digit on his PC (and I saw the same thing earlier today on a PC stream), and he even stopped driving he said because it was a slideshow.

I watched the same sequences (mirror and driving) on the PS4 version running on PS5 and it has none of those problems. Different settings obviously, but the PS4 version running on PS5 is smoother.

This is completely opposite to my experience with the game on a 2080Ti on PC. Game was maxed andwhile I didn’t have the frame counter up it felt completely smooth and I’ve become fairly sensitive to frame drops since ps5 and spider man / demons souls.
