So... I got a preorder (with email confirmation) in at Alternate.de for the Nitro+ (but with "unknown" availability... here's hoping that they come through as they have in the past). Paid a freaking premium though. 979€ :( Am not happy about that.

But my 5900X is bored (as I have a 8800 GTS 320 in it right now, as my 1080ti is coupled to my "old" gaming pc which is fully watercooled, so I cannot removed that card with ease).

Anyhow... I have this and next week off (since I actually took vacation for PS5/CP2077, and I didn't preorder a PS5 (could've though), and CB was delayed...). So here's hoping, the card arrives sooner, rather than later!

Ouch. That's crazy. Might as well have waited for the 6900XT.
Speaking of watercooled...

Continued astonishment that both AMD / Nvidia Marketing departments are capable of shipping large numbers of cards to reviewers, but not paying customers.

To think people were slamming me for saying that the PC cards should reach at least slightly higher than 2.2GHz, considering a console can reach those clocks with the same architecture... But I digress...

Who are all these rando "PC Techs"? Can I be one so I can get one for free.

Edit: That fucker has 350 goddamn subscribers and he gets a free GPU WHAT THE FUCK!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

What a stressful time to be a PC gamer. Everybody scrambling to upgrade their PC in time for Cyberpunk, while all the new CPUs and GPUs are in extremely short supply and get snatched up by bots. Getting your hands on the parts you want is like a game in itself.

So most of the reviews of these AIB models seem to show a factory OC which grants around 5% performance boost at 4K out of the box.

Using a manual OC you can get an additional 4-6% performance boost on top of that which would put a good manual OC of these AIB models in the range of around 8-11% performance increase (depending on title) at 4K versus the reference 6800XT.

That seems pretty impressive, if you also have a system capable of making use of the SAM feature you could potentially gain an additional 3-6% performance increase in titles that benefit from using SAM. Very nice indeed.

And here I am, buying a Nintendo Switch at actual MSRP ($300), while it also includes free Mario Kart 8 and 3 months of online subscription... Yes, they were gone in about one hour, but if you focus wherever the hype isn't, you can get stuff.
People need to chill. No one is dying if they don't play Cyberpunk 2077 on the first day. There are plenty of other ways to entertain oneself... I haven't even played the Witcher 3 still xD.

In fact, I'm even considering waiting for Navi 22/23, getting a cheaper card for the time being, and upgrade to a better RDNA3 card in the future. It's not as if I really need a 6800XT, at my 2560x1080 monitor resolution. And I'm getting tired of all this price gouging.

That could end up being a good option, depends on what the prices are like early next year once supply is readily available.

It also depends on the release cadence of RDNA3, if we didn't face the COVID pandemic this year then AMD/Nvidia cards may have launched earlier this year potentially July/August maybe? Which would have put it at roughly 1 year since the release of the 5700XT (RDNA1). Of course they may have still faced delays anyway and maybe launched around now regardless.

Lets say a worst case scenario the cadence matches what we have seen between RDNA1 to RDNA2 it would be 16 months from now until the release of RDNA3 GPUs.

Of course like we are seeing now to a massive degree but which has always been true to some degree, whatever new GPU launches then will likely have a 2-3 month window until you can readily buy one. So if normal availability for 6800XT is lets say February or March next year then we can add an additional 3 months maybe before availability of RDNA3 GPUs.

Of course now that the world is somewhat used to COVID, maybe the release cadence will shrink back to the original estimate of around 12 months, which would be pretty impressive. But to be honest we are dealing with hypotheticals and anything could change, no matter what tech you are talking about the only sure thing is that there will be something better released around the corner, so you could convince yourself to hold off buying anything new for years using that same logic.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet if your wallet, need and circumstances align (and there is availability).

I would never put it in my rig. But I do actually think it's quite beautiful this time. Say what you will, but they can be quite original in their designs. I've never seen a card as creative as this one;

Definitely not for me, but its originality is through the roof.

Hey llien llien remember our talk in the rtx thread? So how did your predictions turn out with the rtx launch being a panic paper launch now that amd cards are available in even worse quantities? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

AMD had nVidia on the plate, it is amazing to see this so fucked up. Its not even that bots are buying everything, just there are no cards.

I am as far from bein AMD fanboy as possible, it is just incredible when you look at this from business perspective.

AMD always has to mess up something... nVidia gave them a lay up and they missed it.
Thankfully, the game is not over yet, but, it is demoralizing.

Especially considering that Nvidia had a head start and AMD was kinda late, I expected AMD to at least have enough stock for the consumers who wanted (or had no other choice) to wait for them.

On the other hand, covid fucked up so many processes leading up to the mass manufacturing that I understand why it is that way. But Nvidia had the same pandemic and managed to be first to the market, so good on them I guess.

"According to Sapphire, the RX 6800 XT Nitro+ will retail for $770."

Yeah.... Definitely not paying $120 over MSRP. 🖕

This is what happens when you have 1 or 2 foundaries supplying the entire world's computer chips. And it'll only get worse, the barrier of entry makes it literally impossible for anyone to compete, the cost and complexity is way too high to be practical.

Well, those are inflated due to the high demand and low supply. But the $770 is what Sapphire has set as the price themselves. It's better than the reference, but not so much as to warrant a $120 price hike. So... Yeah

is it with VAT, or not?

That is the US price so that is without tax. Although US sales tax is normally much lower than Europe, depends on the state but I think something like 8% tax is likely what people will pay? Can US Gaf chime in here?
I'm in the EU, that's all I needed. Thanks.

€979 is what my colleague paid for his EVGA 3080 FTW3 on Alternate.de the other day. It's sad that that can actually be considered a fair price for that card at the moment, as it's never in stock anywhere :/ (and btw my Zotac performs a bit better, and like 8°C cooler than the FTW...) I snagged a ZOTAC 3080 OC the other day, and to be honest, the RTX games I've tried to this point (Quake 2, Fortnite, Deliver us the Moon, Control, COD Cold War) haven't really wowed me that much. And COD with RTX runs worse than it does on a €400 PS5.

I'm actually considering selling on the 3080 and trying to grab a PS5 and Demon's Souls...

The 6800XT a $680 dollar card is beating the 3090 a $1500 in pretty much all the tests here.......The raytracing results are so close, pretty much neck and neck with the 3080 and the 6800XT beats the 3090 in Dirt RT, beats the 3080 in Watchdogs and pretty close to the 3090......When the drivers for DXR 1.1 matures or even general AMD drivers, this is going to be bonkers....Debauer absolutely loves these cards...

One thing that really impressed me is the high clocks on the AIB's, the OC headroom is insane, so I can only imagine these results with SAM enabled with a 5000 series CPU.....AMD's has hit it out the park here, but people have to understand Covid has made manufacturing very problematic and tricky......Stock can never satisfy demand for pretty much all products right now..

longdi longdi I believe you were saying the cards would not clock high and that 2400mhz was a pipe dream?

Would be curious to see your opinion now that we have more data to work with?
These users are not interested real data, only pessimism and FUD against their product of choice...
