It's actually a great game, people went nuts because the game doesn't fit their liking. What a waste.
I finished it just once and wanted to do a replay with new game + but i thought i'd wait to do that on PS5 when the inevitable upgrades will be made available.

oh it will win and it'll be great to watch
Your avatars give me wood. Nevermind the game.

Well played sir. well played.

An old comment but perfectly reflects the sentiments exactly thay I had earlier in the year. I feel pretty stupid assuming that 36 CUs would be a disaster for Sony. After the recent comparisons I learned that while the PS5 has 36 CUs they are much better than the CUs in the PS4 Pro. And combine that with a Zen 2 CPU gives you a big boost to peformance. Seeing games run extremely well on the PS5 really shows me how silly I was to believe all those crazy rumors earlier in the year.
I felt pretty stupid too after watching the Road to PS5, especially after we got more RDNA 2 info. 😅

It's lip service. The games will be fundamentally the same on all platforms

Many us of said this earlier this year when Xbox cross gen games were "built from the ground up for Series X" and its just as false now as it was then. Yet I recall the pushback from many on here saying games are not held back etc.

Cross gen games are last gen games. Jimmy Sony and Phil Soft are both using the same lies to dress them up.

Now for PS5 cross gen, we know all it really means is DualSense support and fast loading, maybe some RT and 3d audio. And higher res/fps.
For XSX, no new controller, otherwise bout same as PS5 - fast loading, maybe some RT and higher res/fps.

Game design wise its all built around the old machines. Halo, Miles, Horizon, etc.

"Halo Infinite has been built from the ground up to take full advantage of Xbox Series X."

The only difference between the ps4 version and ps5 version will be only graphics and load time, ps5 definitely gonna have prettier jaw dropping graphics but no different in game design like R&C. Hopefully ps5 version also have mounting on flying birds to roam around. We all know it's impossible for ps4 version.

It means they aren't just slapping some reflections on it like the crossgen multiplats. Horizon will look considerably better on PS5, the gameplay will remain the same though
PS5 Horizon FW will have 4K res of course, but I doubt a 60 FPS option. Maybe some RT stuff added in.

Dualsense support, better audio, extra graphical detail, fast loading... and thats about it.

Still just a PS4 game.

Probably Horizon Forbidden West development started in 2017 or 2018. The Decima Engine could not ready yet to take advantage for faster CPU and i/o streaming. It´s a huge gap between PS4 and PS5, and these CPU and i/o streaming advantages will show gradually.

GPU bound games could be easier to port on PS4. I heard something about similar environments in both platforms (PS4/PS5). The second wave of games should use more CPU, i/o, geometry engine.. and we will say goodbye PS4.

Flashless at the Golden Globes
I wanted to love it, but the story was lacking compared to the first title. Technically it was a masterpiece, but Joel and Ellie acted out of character. I never developed an emotional attachment to the other characters.
i thought the entire second act with the new characters was severely lacking. i loved all the setpieces and gameplay scenarios with abby but i had to will my way through Abbys story because god everything about her storyline just sucked.

the game ended on a really strong note so its still my goty.

i dont think Joel acted out of character at all. Ellie did but thats the entire point of the game. she was doing stuff even she didnt feel comfortable doing.

Well, the graphics do look next-gen considering the level of detail they can get on screen at once.

Uh oh. Some fanboys celebrated a bit too early?
“What we’ll do in the long run is we don’t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise,” Stuar said
“But what we want is we want that content, in the long run, to be either first or better or best or pick your differentiated experience, on our platforms. We will want Bethesda content to show up the best as — on our platforms.
“So again, I’m not announcing pulling content from platforms one way or the other,” Stuart continued. “But I suspect you’ll continue to see us shift towards a first or better or best approach on our platforms.”

TL/DR: Microsoft wants to make the most money possible

I've always said that existing franchises will most likely still multiplatform, and some new IPs will probably be exclusives if MS thinks those new big exclusives franchises can bring more people to the Xbox ecosystem.

"first, better or best" does clearly indicate they will not actually be exclusive.

sounds like stuff will launch first on xbox, gamepass, and have exclusive content. but the core game will come to all consoles eventually.

It means Forbidden West is as much of a next-gen game as Miles Morales was.

That is, not at all.

So expect a ps4 game with a native 4k/30 fps plus RT, and dynamic res/60 without RT and no load times.

Flying mounts? Probably not.

Detailed sea world under the sea's surface on an open world? Forget it. It'll probably be an isolated level working like the warehouses in spider-man.

It means PS4 hardware will hold back any type of next-gen design the game could have.
This.

What game should I go for after Demon, Miles Morales and Astro?

Sackboy, AC Valhalla, COD, the Pathless and DMC5 are all on the table

As a Sony fan this kind of talk pisses me right off.

They have already said they will be supporting PS4 for the next few years. Makes sense. The majority of the userbase is still on old gen.
But don't go bullshitting people with this 'built from the ground up on PS5' horseshit.

This just fucked my day up.
At some point you're porting down games rather than porting up, kind of like MGS5

Still no AC video? Is it possible MS or Ubi reached out and asked them to hold off? AC is breaking records for Ubi, a DF video would hurt that momentum . It never takes them this long to make a video.
This is the problem with journalism in general and know we're seeing the same in gaming, once outlets like Digital Foundry get big they start accepting special treatment and sponsors from big companies, they compromise on their journalistic values and fail to provide a objective analysis and overview in fear of upsetting their benefactors and losing sponsorships and money. As far as I'm concerned, I think we should instead rely on smaller/indie channels like VGtech, NXGamer and many others.
