Put them on ignore, they’re a troll.

This is the screen that they cut that tiny bit from. They feel very vulnerable about how XSX games look so they troll like this a lot.

Well, overall the image looks good but the background not so much. I really don't care about this stuff but if this ir running on XSX is a bit bad especially after that "most powerful console ever" merchandising.

Thats how the game will look on anything other than a PC with tweaked ini files. LOD and draw distance aren’t going away with next gen

We need better vegetation in next-gen graphics if we really want open world games in wilderness. Guerrilla gave a great presentation in GDC about their approaches and compromises. Really wish to see more in HFW.

I was going to wait until next year, but I finally caved in and bought an all digital PS5, the bad news is that it won't be shipped until December 5th.

Nothing the red numbers is loading save files, the black numbers are loading the game plus the safe files.

XSX beats PS5 in loading some BC games, get past it. I expect third party Next Gen and Cross Gen games to be basically the same or slightly favouring the PS5

The same? Why do you think that?

What’s the weird coile whine with the PS5?

Did you see how close they put the microphone? So how are you even going to notice it while gaming?

Edit: To answer your question the sound seems very similar to the bearings in my Noctua fan. It's only noticeable if you put your ears right up to it.

Edit 2: Also think the power supply might have a fan but I don't see anything that would indicate that. It does have ventilation holes though so maybe the blower is cooling it as well.

It could be the fact that the BC games are not using the custom decompressor on the PS5 for load times.

I believe that many BC games that were tested to see how fast they loaded were running in one of the 2 BC compatibility modes where the CPU clock is lowered to match the base PS4's or the Pro's.
Decompression on current gen is done by the CPU's.

So if on the XSX the CPU runs at full next gen speed then these numbers make total sense.

Especially since SMT would be off on both for BC which means that even at full next gen speed the PS5 CPU is slower.

Not quite. Current gen consoles have hardware decoder for zlib. We don’t know if XSX or PS5 keeps it or just uses CPU instead.

I guess that XSX still has it with additional hardware for BCPack, while PS5 totally moves to Oodle and uses CPU for BC.

Posting rando twitter content should be banned. Obviously the forum isn't a new source or anything but honestly I feel the majority of major outlets pick up on things directly posted here. Should be some form of moderation. No?

Anyone know where I can pre-order a PS5?

I know they're sold out, but I keep reading stuff about people canceling and pre-orders popping up here and there. I was gonna wait for GOW, but figured i'll sink my teeth into it now if I can and just have all next gen consoles from the get go.

Not standing in lines or anything like that(time is money), just a simple pre-order. If not I can wait, no biggie.

So Paul from RGT has expanded upon his comments about the VRS ability of the PS5.

"I've had multiple developers tell me this now as well as other sources, a lot of the customisations come down to the Geometry Engine...one of them told me "I've never had so much control over the geometry pipeline before", it's basically Primitive Shaders but on steroids, it's basically hardware implementations of things like variable rate shading...to my understanding it's happening earlier in the pipeline, the earlier you can cull the vertices and the earlier you can adjust the shading rate of a specific scene as you're drawing, the more performance your saving"

There would be exponentially more cases of online stores cancelling preorders due to not allocating proper stock. So you really wouldnt be able to find anything. You could try jumping on launch day online restocks. I believe target and walmart have said they will have it. You'll have to research the times if they are available.

When is a black ps5 coming? I will never buy a white console. PC is my main anyway, so I can wait for black to come along. Hopefully then there are some exclusives other than demon souls I want to play.

Nope, but you can try Walmart on launch day if you have one near you. They are taking online orders for it at 12p, 3p, 6p, and 9p (EST).

Sounds a bit like mesh shaders to me. Interested to see if there is anyway to quantify the differences.

this is great an all, but it would be still better if it just supports VRS. Because now does a dev have to do?
With VRS just optimize it once and use it for both PC and XBOX. Since PS5 doesn’t support it, they would have to develop a customer feature and this will take more time and resource, which will make developing games more expensive. Not sure if devs will even do this or just don’t use that feature at all.

Its just a varriation of a similar type of optimization, Devs will use both geometric culling and vrs for PS5/XSX.

You mean between Mesh Shaders and Primitive Shaders (Including GE)? Honestly both will be utilised heavy for each console, I don’t know how exactly we will the difference, but I’m sure both will lead to terrific results. There’s some tech demos from developers making use of Mesh Shaders and they look amazing, likewise the UE5 tech demo was also using PS5’s Primitive Shaders.

Salient points. I've wondered on this myself . I believe Cerny said something along the lines of devs were free to ignore the programmatic geometry engine and just use the GPU as if it were just a standard upgrade across generations but there would be a lot of performance left off the table.

I think it's usage will likely help in select specific cases where additional power needs to be extracted for multiplats and much more significantly in Sony's first party.
