Good point. I just wonder if there will even be a NEED for such a feature on PS5. At least with native PS5 games. Seems like the quick resume's MS has shown are about 5-7 seconds, which is super fast. But when the PS5 appears to be loading native games in 3 seconds or so...say even 3-5 or hell, even the same 5-7 seconds...do you NEED to have a separate feature that operates at the same speed and call it quick resume? Then again, we haven't seen a ton of games and maybe I'm making assumptions that will be proven incorrect once we do.

Yes, I'm not sure it's useful on PS5 when Spiderman loads in 1.8 sec from menu anyway. Next gen games will load at blazing speed anyway.

It seems already half useless on XSX with much higher loading times to come on next gen games (but still very fast), so I don't know... (maybe I'm wrong and it becomes very popular though)

I'd really like to see some comparisons on what the best 3D audio headset is on PS5. I also haven't seen anyone compare the platinum to the 3D pulse headset. It's realistic the platinum is actually better than the pulse 3D headset in audio and build quality. 3D audio isn't specific to a headset so I wouldn't be shocked if Platinum is the better option for a little more money.

I'd really like to get a good headset for PS5's audio or even just headphones. Hope some good audiophiles get on these reviews fast. Pulse 3D seems okay but I want to know if it's the best value wise at that price point.

Best general over ear headphones on market rn to use for gaming/life/music are the Sony XM3s (or the newer XM4 model).
Bit expensive for some at around $250 or so, but they have excellent sound, build quality, comfort, and noise cancelling tech.

You can just plug those into the controller. Perfect for PS5 3D audio, and will last many years.

Obviously more costly than Pulse headset. For just $100, the Pulse headset is a good value.
I quite like the headset so far from my use so far (on PS4.)

On activities:

What makes this a particularly compelling feature is that the available Activities adapt to your game as you play, offering up-to-date help and suggestions. Selecting a specific level or challenge pushes the game to load it immediately, and the SSD handles this quickly--I completed all of Spider-Man's stealth challenges without needing to travel through the open world to each mission marker. Like the fast or even non-existent loading screens, this saves you a lot of time, especially on menial tasks that completionists may want to just get over and done with.

The most helpful aspect of these Activities is the inclusion of video guides. Near the end of my time with Astro's Playroom, I was struggling to find the few remaining collectibles. Astro tells you exactly which sections you're missing a collectible in, and selecting that specific section's card brings up the option for a video guide. The PS5 knew exactly which collectible I was missing and showed me a short 10-second video of where I could find it. This will only work with supported games, and it's up to the developer to create and implement these guide videos. Hopefully developers will flock to this new feature because when it's used well, as it is in Astro and Spider-Man, it improves the overall experience.

Yeah, it's just still odd.. Particularly how some games load way faster on the XSX and then others are reverse and load way faster on the PS5. Something to do with the files and structure of those apps? Or...are some 3rd party games just structured more favorably for one console or the other? I'm very curious about this and the reason for the discrepancies.

I'm speculating (since this is still a speculation thread) that the PS5 uses a radically different file structure and may actually have to EMULATE to some extent, files structures for BC. Or...that the games that load from one or few larger files are the ones the PS5 is quicker with, while those games with lots of smaller files do better for the XSX? Any further info on this?

It is odd yeah, but yeah I just think it's a matter of filing.

do you have a PS5? no. does the person it tweet does? yes.

did he test it? yes

did it work?

no

by your logic, PS4 also supported USB game saves but Sony being scummy removed the option in PS5 so it can force PS+

they have likely done the same scummy move perhaps with PS5 if your PS4 is lighting up the LED's around your toy phone ok.

Waaah, waaah, my vape is not working with PS5, PS5 is not a true next-gen console cause it cannot provide power for my cancer-inducing mouth stick.

PS5 - pre-order cancelled. Thanks for the info. Twitter is such an amazing fountain of knowledge, just like Facebook.

Yeah, when I heard they had no quick resume, I thought that it would come later, but it won't.

After seeing Spiderman load times, it's not needed.

Here's a video on switching between games:

So for the killzone hints...

Also both the NX gamer and DF had a fair amount of Killzone footage in their videos that they never said anything about, just showed it running at 60 fps. I found that odd to say the least.

Yeah, but Astro is a homage to all things Playstation, and of course reviewers are going to test Killzone running as it's such an iconic game.

I wish you had more meatier hints. :(

Yes, and all informations we had before today were pointing in that direction

we talk about a lightning fast SSD with DRAM, and a MUCH faster hardware overall. Even without patch the loading times should be WAY faster than what we saw so far, which is hardly faster then a PS4 with SSD.
Tbh, I did not see a satisfying explanation yet, why the loading times are as bad as they are. So far nothing really made sense.

Is there a next gen Xbox serie X game that load as fast as MM and Godfall?

Gamepass because it’s cheap and vaping .... is this really the Xbox target demographic now?

People who spend $500 on a console to play games they can play on their existing console, but didn’t think to buy a usb plug adapter for $5....?

Seems like a feature looking for a problem...

I’m gonna guess the times are due to decompression.

Taking into account both the Xsex and PS5 have showed similar percentage load time improvements compared to last gen, I’d say they aren’t able to use the custom hardware to decompress last gen games and instead they become CPU bound during the process.

Didn’t both companies say the custom hardware offloaded a major amount of CPU work for decompression during SSD access? Not too much of a stretch to see those algorithms maxing out the CPU while populating VRAM.

Total guess though.

Pretty much. They've really dug themselves into a hole with this one. They better hope that cross gen games optomized for next gen consoles like dirt 5, cold war, assassin's creed..etc.. aren't slower on ps5 or else this is going to poss big trouble long term.

They won’t be “in big trouble”. No one will care at all.

Loading times, features like quick resume, Charging your vapestation and BC aren’t points that sell. They’re just features of the console that people note and move on.

Games and gameplay related experience are the critical selling point.

No need for the overblown concern trolling.

After all those we believe in generations Marketing crap from Sony and then releasing Spider-Man MM and Horizon Forbidden West on PS4.
Now we have another turn of events, after praising the SSD as the second coming of Jesus and saying that it’s FAR AHEAD (!) of HIGH-END PCs! LOL
fuck even Linus had to make a apoligize video:

for not praising the PS5 SSD, although he was write from the fucking beginning!
Seriously, Sony should get much more flack for pulling this crap.

Oh boy, if MS would do anything like this, they would be dead already.
Just remember when MS openly and very transparently announced that they are doing cross-gen games, how EVERYONE - even MS fanboys - trashed them.
now imagine if they pretended all the time that they believe in generations and then come out saying they will release cross-gen games. This would be a bloodbath
TECHRADAR (on XBSX): Xbox Series X's cross-gen approach is robbing players of the next-gen thrill.

The reviews for the ps5 yesterday were brilliant, Sony has delivered in so many areas.

The overall package from Sony is much better than Microsofts, its time to just accept it and move on, most have.
You seem to always be moaning about spilled milk, it's time to move on and enjoy the vast amount of positives instead of lingering in on the few negatives.

It's not Sonys fault that Microsft has failed to deliver on some things, i suggest you hit Phil's titter and blast him instead of trying to dampen sony's gamers spirits on this forum.

Direct your rage at the people who let you down, not the company that is delivering. :messenger_grinning:

The difference is Sony have succeeded where MS didn’t - they made cross gen games that still show generational improvement. Thanks Phil!

So I'm here wondering if MS will put the time & update games like Sekiro or MHW which know run sometimes with >15fps on Ps5. Especially Monster Hunter which is locked 60 on Ps5 & uses the same resolution.

Games were designed to Ps HW I've no doubts SX can run those better but MS needs to fix the Code.

Another good question, BC on Ps5 doesn't make much use of the SSD, Days Gone still loads slow compare it to Ps5 games & it's crazy why Sony didn't bother, MS Solution works better. I wonder if Sony will update this.

Lots of lies and misinformation are coming out due in part to people who are analyzing the console with "incomplete" firmwares that will be updated on the day of release. Until the consoles are updated on 12-19, it would be more prudent not to enter into absurd wars that in a few weeks can cause you shame.
Bgs sorry to bother you mate but have you heard anything abou last of us 2 update for ps5?i havent played only for that reason ,to wait and experienced it to the new console....

Wait, so you're mad because optimized next gen games cold boot in 7 seconds?... I have no words.

PS5 USB cannot provide power when it is in standby or power OFF state. XSX can...

charge your vape, your phone etc..

it’s a massive win there for Xbox as it’ll be off most of the time so needed to support this “feature”
