Halo MCC getting 120FPS support for Series X|S

It's nice on PC although Halo Reach from what I remember didn't seem to work properly at 120FPS, I wonder if they will fix that.

Sorry, I got this on PC, no way I spend more time on these games.

Anyway, how many of you guys actually have HDMI 2.1 120hz TVs?

I love me some 120fps but is it possible to make any difference with a controller and not a mouse in any FPS?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Even though I own the game on PC, I think Series X will be the best place to play it. The player counts on PC are getting low enough that it took me 30 minutes to get into a BTB game a couple of weeks ago. Does Xbox have the same issue?

There is also the disadvantage of the PC version lacking split-screen. I'm hoping for a split-screen resurgence on console next gen given 4K is now standard (every player gets their own 1080p view window then).

FOV slider when?

60fps is more than enough but the FOVs in some hale games are just so fucking low, it's hard to go back to them, especially Halo 3.

and they said they are thinking about bringing the FOV slider to the console version...

there are also HDMI 2.0 TVs that support 120hz at 1440p or 1080p (which are the resolutions most 120fps games will run at anyway)

Started replaying it in August, stopped due to Infinite being delayed, but this is a great reason to pick it up again. This is going to play amazing on XSX

Sony prolly would charge $80 for this chunky upgrade. They doing stuff backwards before new gen even started..watch and learn, youngins how 💩 gets done.

It's coming with an FoV slider, Aaron Greenberg confirmed

120 FPS Halo CE, on original visuals, sounds like a dream. It already looks beautiful/colorful and popping in 4K/HDR.

However, I echo wanting the longtime flaws with these games fixed, from shaders to, I understand, some AI issues, rather than a spiffy new framerate.

However, that's a lot less appealing for a new system launch, and the games are a blast regardless. All the same, I want them to get to this, if these are to be the definitive versions, with BC for some of the games not available.

thank fucking god.
like, I love Halo 3, but going back to it after playing most modern shooters like Apex or Doom at 110° FOV and being hit in the face with Halo 3's 70° FOV is just... it's very close to giving me motion sickness at times.

Damn, I was just thinking about how this was my killer app for 120hz, but I didnt have the courage to look. I half expected to see we are working on this feature for 2023.

This looks like launch? Fuck yeah series X.

Edit: Saw Aaron's tweet it is 11/17

While that's very true, I think it's more about building a good library of games that use the feature, for a TV upgrade down the road. Even if some can't partake yet, it feels like good news.

Jesus, the salt in this thread.

This is awesome stuff. People were asking for Halo improvements, and I can't wait to see the results.

I'd love to see Halo 5 updated with co-op. That's the only Halo related thing I really want, but can't see it happening at this point. Fingers crossed!

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
It’s up to the gamer if they want to buy the same game twice that being said the pressure is probably on M$ to release a Halo game now that infinite is delayed and efficient gameplay is what’s it’s all about.

Nice add for MP, overkill for SP. Stability at 60fps is preferable, personally, with added features like ray-tracing, but can't say that it's not good news.

If anyone has anything negative to say about this then GTFO.

This announcement is nothing but good news! This collection has gotten more attention and care in recent years than any game I can think of without charging you extra! This is great, support it so other developers will see the positive feedback and do the same!

When tf are they gonna patch in splitscreen for pc users jesus christ

It seems like they slowly bring feature parity between both versions. so I would expect it coming soonish.

but I expect it to come out after H̴̲̳͑a̸̲͝l̶͔͛o̴̟͒͑ ̶͓̾4̷̢̮̑̅

Got one a couple of weeks ago. My mind has been blown (so was my wallet!) with regular ol’ One X games. I don’t think I’m prepared by what the Series X is going to serve up...especially down the road a bit more.

I think I didn’t truly understand what a premium 4K/HDR gaming experience could be. I’m astounded.

I have a huge backlog, so I postponed playing it when they announced the One X enhancements, since then it has been sitting there, now it seems I'll wait again so I can play it on series X, I think I will never play it lol

Crossplay is coming so that should help with the population. Population on MCC is bigger than Halo 5. MCC would be more popular if they didn't mess the game up and leave it an an unplayable state for four years as well as bungle the PC release.

120hz is great but I don't think people realise your TV will have to support it to even use it. I see a lot of upset people soon since not everyone can afford the TV's that usually have 120hz modes.

Let's see if they manage to solve the unlocked framerate issues that are present in the PC version before this launches then:

that's not a framepacing issue the issue is that the mouse input doesn't get registered at the right timing.

it seems mouse input is only running at 60hz, and when your framerate is unlocked it will desync with the 60hz mouse registration which will cause hitching.

on controller this should be not an issue since analog stick input is read differently.
