I’m just wondering if they can be turned off to make the screen a little less crowded/chaotic. Not a big deal either way thoughA lot of people complaining about certain features.
Simple.
Don't use the feature.
You're not forced to use any feature, you don't like.
You want to play your game. Then play your game.
And those disliking those who like these features. Grow up.
edit: reminder to self. I'm on neogaf, where whiners rule. But, but, I don't even want to see said feature. Bwaaa!
I found it strange too, but they skip matchmaking, character selection, and a countdown timer for team building. It's hard to tell what part of that is stage loading, as it exits into a pre-staging area anyway. Pause at 7:33 to see the countdown timer. Before that is team build, before that is character selection, and before that is matchmaking. If they really wanted to hide load times, they just wouldn't have shown the game. Not sure they have any other multiplayer 1st party titles to show, and DAS hasn't even had anything new shown of it outside of the reveal trailer.
EDIT: Beaten like a chubby sprinter. That's what I get for watching the Thai dub of Cradle 2 The Grave.
This is something very useful for me especially because when I want to get a trophy for a game this would be useful. That cheat sheet is awesome, now I don’t have to go to youtube to look for a quest item.
Not everyone has the need to play online.Who doesn't have PS plus.....do people not have friends to play with?
If it's like the PS4 (which I'm assuming this was originally modeled from) then you won't be able to do a damn thing about that "explore" icon to the right of the store. The "Library" icon on the farthest right will always be there and in that same space. Everything else should be able to be ditched.Like the PS4, I can't wait to never, ever use all of these "social" features.
I hope the main list here can be customized so I can either delete or move all the bullshit I don't care about to somewhere else:
I just want 9 games, the store, and then what is presumably the "more games" button.
lol, "revolutionary". Yeah, sure.
BTW the one playing the catch up game is Sony, and by far.
There's not even that much stuff on that screen that you mentioned.Like the PS4, I can't wait to never, ever use all of these "social" features.

Them being on the console UI is the whole point behind the activities system. It‘s supposed to animate you to go back right into your game with a specific challenge or mission loaded immediately.Looks fine! But all those "activities" things... Couldn't those be inside the game and not on the console ui? Could be kind of immersion breaking.
Aside from that the ui looks nice and clean.
Imagine ignoring third party developer tips and using youtube in the pip or viewing guides as we always have.Imagine locking tips behind PS+ lol
Yeah this seems like a pointless complaint. It’s not a necessary feature- you don’t have to buy ps+ to use a guide. You have YouTube on your smartphone for ChristImagine ignoring third party developer tips and using youtube in the pip or viewing guides as we always have.
It makes sense. It incentivizes devs to adopt the feature, if they can get a tiny slice of PS+ revenue for having it. Huge assumption there, but it definitely gives Sony some levers they can pull to entice adoption of certain features that are hidden. There's also the possibility that these help videos might be generated and hosted by Sony, in which case they incur additional cost to Sony, and they want to recoup that investment.Imagine locking tips behind PS+ lol
That would be cool especially with demons souls being a launch title since I remember there being a system for leaving text hints in that game but people would trick you with it in textI wonder if users can upload their own tips as videos.
Catching up in what sense?

Nothing wrong with that. Honestly I probably won't use the command centre functions either unless I'm trophy hunting. I'll just hop into the main menu as I always have. I'm just seeing it as an advanced quick menu from the ps4 and I only really use that for doing odd things like viewing trophy list. Not going to use any of these features, but looks pretty good for those who will.
So you can record gameplay at 4k now? so no need to buy a capture device.
Speed to begin with.
Like the PS4, I can't wait to never, ever use all of these "social" features.

And what are you basing that off of right now?
PS4's UI until the last two Xbox updates actually was "speedier".
I got bored halfway through the vid and started skipping. The problem with all of this stuff, is that my impression so far is that everything they're so proud of here, will slow down my experience. The PS button not pausing the game is gonna be an annoyance to me. All this junk in the way is an annoyance. I really hope they add options to customize your menu to remove all this fluff, because I just don't care.
I'm a grown man with a family, all my friends are the same, none of us have time to sit and bother with social features. I sit down to play a game. Mostly on my own. That's it. People like me make up a very large portion of gamers who actually spend money, but we're not being catered to at all, which I find a bit odd.
I really don't like that weird menu that pops up when you press the home button.
that should simply open the home screen, which looks way more organized
Is that that much different than XBOX Snap Apps?
Seriously. Sometimes I just want to play and get lost in a game. Not everyone has the need to play online.
Am I actually witnessing Xbox fans complaining about social and networking features?
Great indication that Sony has knocked it out of the park when users of the opposing console are trying to tell us the sort of features that have been Xbox's bread and butter since 360 are now "fluff"
