Because they probably will come, just like a year later. That's a good strategy, anyone that can't wait will get an Xbox or play them on pc, everyone who can wait weren't probably gonna buy an xbox anyway so by releasing it later you will still get those sales.

The original Xbox came out in 2001. They have never 'won' a console generation. When are those board members going to pull the plug on Xbox? People have wanted Xbox gone for a long time. I don't think its going to happen.

I never thought I would buy another Xbox console after my disappointment with the Xbox 360 (severe RROD, and the fact that Microsoft didn't really put much effort into first party exclusives), but if The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 are Microsoft exclusive, then I seriously might consider buying the Series X.

As well, I rarely replay my video games once I beat them, so the idea of getting everything on Gamepass is a very tempting offer.

This is obvious , exclusives are always the key just ask Nintendo. If Sony manages to keep great exclusives as today they will keep selling consoles like pankaces.

But it seems there will be two different bussiness models : traditional one with consoles and the streaming/cloud services. $7.5 billion is a lot of money to recover. But it's not just about selling games from these new IPs MS just purchased. It's about building out their brand and the XBox ecosystem. I think Leyasu hit the nail on the head. There is a certain amount of negative press that comes with any acquisition/merger. Why fan those flames now. There will be some things already in the works that will hit other platforms. By the time the exclusive games come along everyone will be used to the deal, so a lot less blowback.

By the time those games come out how many ps5 consoles would have been sold, 50 million 100 million.

I very much doubt Microsoft will skip those consoles, they are going to be hugely outsold with our without those games, they might as well release them on those platforms and reap the profits.

I can 100% see them releases it on there, so much money to be made, especially if those games come with the dreaded microtransactions, and we all know that is going to happen.

Why doesn't Sony release all of their content on Xbox/Switch/PC? Those three platforms together certainly equate to more users than PS currently has. Why don't you apply this same logic to them?

We all know why you don't, because it's silly. Sony invests in development to sell their brand. So does MS, which for them includes consoles, PC, and mobile via streaming.

Its funny because if it had been Sony buying Bethesda, a company where a $7,5bil outlay could be a literal gamble on the companies future, not one of them would be saying Sony will release the games on Xbox. But Microsoft, a company where $7.5bil is a Christmas party for Nadella lol, yes that outlay is going to hurt them so much they will simply have to put them on Playstation.
