Enter trillion dollar company number 3. Amazon doing some shit. Watch Dog legions day & date, ubisoft games day & date. Pretty cheap price ,can be used through webpages.

And so next gen content war kicks off. A lot of studios/indies/publishers about to get easy cheques. Shit's about to get messy.

Amazon will kill GamePass in no time with that price.

Oh man with AMAZON entering the battle I see Microsoft and sony even nintendo must cooperate to push Amazon and google out of gaming

they must keep the console business the same as is now

they must share games inside the console ecosystem even between each other to guarantee an industry they share benefit of as it is

it is dangerous to them if they do not cooperate

Sony been in the game for years, if the market was ready they’d be in a position to strike.

Everything is in place, All that’s required is a marketing blitz and the Sony brand takes over.

On Microsoft is in the game with Azure. the other 2 Sony and Nintendo are out of the cloud gaming.

The fight is Azure and AWS

It just occurred to me with Microsoft opening tgs, rumors swirling of a Sega acquisition of all things, and Japanese devs reaffirming support for Xbox that Microsoft of all companies look to have more mindshare at tgs than Sony and even Nintendo. That’s how bad Sony’s messaging, radio silence, frugalness towards expanding their first party is.

Sony and Nintendo don't need to. They can succeed traditionally. Game devs would still prefer the full $69 price than Xbox GamePass and Amazon.

Has anyone shared this?

Reading this further and they gave an example taken from an actual game and the compression ratio was 3.16 to 1 when using Kraken + Oodle Textures, that means the 5.5 GB/s x 3.16 = 17.38 GB/s of compressed data. That is HUGE!

I'll tell you, that is STUNNING performance. In the real world, I think we've seen a lot via the Demons Souls trailer. Assuming that was straight gameplay (and no reason to think it's not) what was shown in warping between the stones was instantaneous. That's instantly (or for all intents and purposes 'instant') loading new levels, including new sounds, character models, maps, textures, EVERYTHING in literally the time it takes to put a flash and graphic flourish on the screen. That will be absolutely game changing, pardon the pun.

Don't get me wrong, the XSX taking just a few seconds, even if it was to be 10-15 seconds is also a vast improvement and game changer for next gen versus all previous generations. But virtually INSTANT? That is INSANE. I see why people are saying there really shouldn't be pop in and things like that. Because if the system can instantly load object, textures and the like..there really shouldn't be any pop in. Can't wait to get my hands on this and see it myself!

PS5 I/O and game loading be like...

So if we’re talking about Modern Warfare here (takes up 155GB on my PS4):

155/3.16 = It’ll only take up 49GB if Kraken compression and Oodle Texture’s used

Yea I think we’ll do just fine with 825GB.

I'm sure this will help Xbox reach 300k units LTD in Japan.

The man that inspires me every day, the best actor of 2013 🏅

:( I wish he resolves the situations

Dude was a happy face, and great ambassador for PlayStation during his brief time. Wasn't nice to see him go. Now we got stiff Hermen and no grace BSer and liar Jim. The power shuffle and consolidation within SIE hasn't been too great for the public face of the division. There is not a single suit that inspires optimism, is likely-able or relatable etc. Eric Lempel is also a stiff suit with no personality whatsoever.

Lol with what cloud servers? Microsofts? You aren’t winning the streaming game if you have to lease servers from your direct competitor.

Nothing terribly insightful that this thread, and the many, many (many) others haven't covered this passed week, but a good summary line:
... Xbox is providing tremendous value for players to stay in its ecosystem, while it’s starting to feel like Sony is banking on the loyalty of its fans to put up with things like paying twice for remasters or $70 for brand new games. Maybe that gamble will work, but I can feel many players starting to get frustrated, given the clear alternatives Xbox is offering which Sony is not even attempting to match.
It's clear Sony is banking on positioning itself as the "premium experience", and Microsoft are gravitating to the "great value" position. However, with the hardware crown sitting with Microsoft, and it's massively bolstered first party, I'm not sure Sony can sing that song for long. I'm certainly not paying AUD$125.00 for their games. I think we're actually starting to see the disruption of Gamepass taking effect. If Microsoft can land one or two truly great games early in the generation, I think the tide will be ready to turn.

What are new full priced games on the xbox x?

Depends on the publisher. Ubisoft haven't increased their prices, and neither have Microsoft. Sony have, and it appears Activision has also.

I'm in Australia too. I think prices will settle below $100. Got a lot of PS4 physical releases day 1 at $70 from JB HiFi so $125 is ludicrous, I agree with you there.

I think the jump to 125 is too big and the market will push back. At least I hope.

But there must be game devs to begin with. It might be possible that we see a bidding war for game devs and studios in the very near future. Before this generation we had only Sony and Microsoft competing for the same user base. Now we have Microsoft, Sony, Amazon, Google and yes even dumb facebook. Everyone wants a bite of the huge gaming cake... And all of them want to see a return of their investments.

Do you guys remember the start of Netflix? At the beginning a lot of other content was on Netflix and now we have Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, CBS All Access, HBO, Amazon Prime, etc... You want to watch show A? Subscribe to Netflix. You want to watch show B? Subscribe to Disney+.

I can see a much more seperated gaming market where you won't get all the content you want on just your console. There could be more exclusives down the line to every service and console out there.
