Nvidia RTX 30XX |OT|

I'm so bummed I couldn't get a FE. I was F5ing the site all the time, and it went from "Notify me" to "Out of stock" immediately. I had the money in my PayPal account and tried buying a Zotac for €699 on Amazon, but didn't know Amazon doesn't accept PayPal. I have transferred the PayPal funds back to my bank account, but who knows how long that takes to process. So now I apparently have five days to update the payment method before Amazon cancels my order. If the money isn't in my accout before that, I hope I'll be able to find a card for €699 somewhere else. Super frustrated right now :/

Damn, I'm now doubting that I'll be able to get an RTX 3090 next week. I may have to actually camp out at my local Microcenter beginning the night before it opens. Anyhow, anyone who wanted an RTX 3080 but couldn't get one shouldn't be bummed out, because leaks have revealed that Nvidia will be releasing an RTX 3080 or 3080Ti that has 20GB of GDDR6X rather than only 10GB. So, they should consider this missed opportunity a blessing in disguise.

Yeah, this whole launch been a shitshow, cards appearing in and out of stock randomly, orders getting cancelled.

I read on our local forums that there were 120 cards each for every Nvidia partner in all of Russia - that's like what, a thousand or so at most for the country of 100+ million? smh

Lmfao. They're saying that anyone that got a FE was a bot. The FE sold out in 92 fucking seconds.

It's a joke how many bots there are on ebay selling them for $1000+. It's so mind-boggling how they didn't see this coming.
This has happened before, in other industries as well. They are fully aware of this phenomenon. The question is if they care enough to do anything about it.

my goal was to grab a good 3080 for 699€. The Ti or 20G or whatnot will cost most likely 799 to 899. For what? 10% more performance? No thanks :(

Unless I see evidence to the contrary I'm pretty sure they didn't actually have any cards to sell. They didn't bother to announce in their own shop when they was supposed to go live, no one saw the buy button go active before it suddenly showed out of stock. And even IF it did for a split second, why didn't they allow people to choose to stay with a backorder. They had even prepared in beforehand a designed screen for AIBs with logos and links to other shops in it.. They wasted people's time, and I'm not ok with it.

Completely agree. They should of just delayed the launch if they their supply was as pitiful as it apparently is. If their ability to pump out 3080's on a daily basis is as amazing as they claim, then within two weeks they could of had a launch that was a bit less of a shit show.

Blaming bots and scalpers is missing the point, Nvidia decided to launch without significant stock for whatever nebulous nefarious reasons.
They wanted to 'launch' before AMD comes in. Not sure if I actually posted it but I at least thought that they wouldn't be able to fill their orders for quite some time.

are in a big trouble
I was working over the phone at home and had been in front of the screen since 5am. keep updating the couple sites and nothing. Nvidia's site just keep giving me the notify button without even showing any of the buy option. Neweggs was a mess crashing all the time. got Best Buy to put a card into my cart and got to the payment part before the site dumped me out and emptied my cart. Amazon never shown any of the cards as available at all even thou I've been constantly refreshing the page. contacted Amazon customer service and was basically told they're showing on their side the cards will be restock again in Oct 5th. not sure how many they're getting but there's hoping I guess.

I think that's mostly just people who're upset with the scalpers so they went on these auctions and over bid them then not pay or take out the bid at the last moment just to fuck with the seller. since they won't be able to list the same thing within 5 days or something. I'm kinda thinking about getting a few burner accounts to do that too tbh.

Yes that's what I've heard

So was the 3080 launch even real? I had notification stuff setup on sites, never got the emails, checked the sites, everything was sold out lol

I don't think it was; I've visited the forums of Resetera, Reddit, and Linus Tech Tips and everyone within them stated that they were unable to secure a card. Something's fishy.

Fucking newegg. Sent me an email just now basically saying, "Hi, here's a list of products relevant to what you have been looking at lately." and it's a bunch of links to out of stock 3080's.

The following is a picture from an article by The Verge and it depicts a long line of people who wanted to buy the RTX 3080...from the very Microcenter that is in my locality. Based on this picture, I don't think that I stand a chance of getting an RTX 3090 from this Microcenter next week; I've talked about camping out, but I honestly don't see myself doing that all through the night.

You seem to not have made a very good job. I just posted a few pages back that I ordered my card at caseking and also already payed for it. I expect it to ship somewhen next week.

Well, you're a rarity. Most people - by far - have been unable to secure a card.

Which MC you near? I'm thinking of just going f'ck it mode and taking that Wednesday off to go sit my ass in front of a MC in the DC/Baltimore area. It would be nice to have any ally so just finding a bathroom to not piss myself doesn't mean losing a place in line.

While I'm not wanting to say that there was wide availability etc. there's no need to debate that, I'm not going to say I'm the rarity either.
We don't really have numbers on how many units were sold or will be send out daily.

Did Amazon ever make these cards available for sale? If you visit the listings for each of the versions of the RTX 3080 that are cataloged here, you'll notice that none of them has reviews and only one of them - as far as I've checked - has questions and answers submitted by people. Something's fishy...or, as some have suggested, the cards were indeed bought by bots, which wouldn't bother leaving reviews or submitting questions and answers.

I don't think they did but I'm not 110% certain. Seems like they never received stock at all from what they been saying on NVIDIA discord (some of them been in contact w/ amazon reps)

Well then... A familiar sight xD

nVidia is too good at marketing.

Wow, why would Nvidia skip a retailer as large as Amazon? Strange.

Limited stock and many of the partners just sold their versions on their own website. Although EU Amazon seems to have had stock....a LOT of them in fact. We'll see how that pans out tomorrow when they supposively ship. I'm not holding my breath that I'll get my Zotak 3080 from there anytime soon if at all.

Since the RTX 3090 is seen as a bad value proposition due to its insane price, do you guys think that the lines of people waiting to buy it will be as long as those for the RTX 3080?

you could order like 10 each or so

Could this be the biggest, most successful launch of a GPUline/series, ever? I was sad to hear that the 3080 was sold out before the time to sell had been met.
Why? I feel bad for those who legitimately want to enjoy a nice upgrade at a good price. It was also telling what the 3090 release could be. I don't find this fair, but that's life..

People don't buy high end gfx cards for their value but for the performance. Yes, I'm betting it will initially sell out too but not as fast as the 3080 obviously.

I dunno if I'd call this a successful launch.

except they knew that AMD wasnt launching anytime soon
I checked and I didn't post what I wrote but it said something about me thinking about mid-October to November for availability.
As AMD didn't immediately counter with their presentation I believed that Nvidia wanted to get the boot in early, something must have been in the air.

Bigger initial demand vs supply, I would expect.
