The Walking Dead Ending in 2022 With Season 11 Being Final Season.

Been watching since 2010, shows had its ups and downs but I hope they knock this out of the park. It deserves a phenomenal ending. And ever since Angela Kang took over, I have faith again.

Salute to the show, and long live Rick Motherfucking Grimes.

24 Episode season will be the final one.

I used to love this show, stopped watching when they spent a whole season teasing Negan, only to get to the finale and pull that first person BS, ended on a cliffhanger, opened the next season with a flashback and didn't even resolve the cliffhanger until the end of the premiere. It was especially annoying after they spent the whole season prior pretending they would kill off Glenn every other episode.

I'm actually surprised to hear the show is still on, I haven't seen anybody talk about it in a few years, did the show ever get better again after I stopped watching?

Like many shows before it, The Walking Dead peaked about five years before its cancellation. The "protagonists" got increasingly more unlikable, and the storytelling devolved to a laughable level. I say "Feh!" to you, The Walking Dead! Nicotero, go back to SFX because you're no good as a showrunner, you lovable walking midlife crisis.

I spent the Negan finale season prepping for Glenn's death (Glenn is my favorite character). I had a similar reaction to the cliffhanger, it pissed a lot of people off. When it came back I thought they may have saved my feelings when Red got it, only to swerve directly back into bashing Glenn's head like a melon after I felt safe.

I can't say after is really "good", at least compared to some previous seasons, but it's watchable, maybe even a bit enjoyable. At the very least, Father Gabriel improves as a character tremendously with the introduction of Negan (other characters also show marked development). And then there's the introduction of a new antagonistic force and, as usual with the show, a bunch of people die, zombies occur, and bad stuff happens. I've mostly been keeping an eye on the show for Little Ass Kicker (with her BFF Negan) and seeing little Hershel and Maggie, again.

Give it another shot, Angela has been great and has fixed those issues big time.

Id agree with you, but ever since Angelea Kang took over, the show is literally better than its ever been. Shes been great. Season 9 was legit the best season.

Comic ends with Rick dying and a time skip of society going back to normal and Rick becoming a legend and zombies being a bogeyman to scare kids. It actually ends well, I doubt this will and they'll shill Norman Reedus who should have died a long time ago. Fucking filler characters.
Apparently there is a spin off that is based on the future, and the zombies are very much still around, so it looks like they aren't doing the books ending, which I thought was great.

went on for far, far too long.

as a result, ill never bother watching tat show ever again. its too fucking long, and theres no way they are going to be able to tie everything up. should have ended with season 9. still would have been long, but it could of have been a decent ending if they worked it in.

I forgot it was still going xD.

Some of the show has been really good, the guy who played Rick in particular nailed it all the way through.
But the show also got really stupid early on and kept getting worse.
It's such a mixed bag and the plot armor is really annoying.

Stopped a long time ago.

Can someone give a rundown what happened the last few years? Got as far as neegan stuff.

Show/Comic peaked at the Prison arc. Both the comic and the show were some of the best Zombie fiction ever done.

Hated this show from the beginning. Like most adaptations they took liberties that undermined the main story elements.
Cannot believe that travesty was on this long. Even the comic got lame around issue 100 and felt like it was going in circles.

I dropped the show after the Negan clifhanger and the comic after the time skip.

I used to binge watch seasons of this show once a year, but after the creators started to drag out Negan's storyline by allowing him to avoid death on several occasions I've finally dropped it. Not looking back now even with the news of the quality increase in recent seasons.

Fear the Walking Dead was even worse, I barely made it through season 1. That show had a huge potential of being a prequel story, but it was almost immediately ruined and turned into another TWD with simply a different set of characters (and no easily likeable ones like Daryl).

Stopped watching after Series 3 and The Governor. It was clear by then that it was basically turning into Days of Our Lives - but with occasional zombies.

It you continued to watch this garbage after they spent six hours arguing on a farm, you have only yourself to blame for all that lost time.

Since i know the comic ends without a real "solution" iam sure the TV show will just end too.

I was out of the show since Alpha and stuff appeared

I don't mind the cliffhanger and how the premiere dealt with it. Both the last episode and the premiere were fantastic, really tense thrillers.

They ruined the whole thing by not continuing with that intensity in next episodes. The season quickly fell back to mediocrity and boring eventless episodes. But those two episodes were some of the best in the whole series.

I probably wouldn't have been as pissed at the cliffhanger if every episode of that season hadn't had people saying "Uh oh, Negan is coming! He's gonna do the thing!" and then when he comes and "does the thing" we don't even get to see it.
Meanwhile they fake killed Glenn 3 or 4 times in that season? Even showed the audience him getting torn up by walkers and then came back an episode or two later saying "actually no, that didn't happen, you just didn't see it".

I had already felt like the show was on decline at that point but those two were the straws that broke the camel's back.

Didn't know this was still going

Dropped both the comic and show soon after the prison arc. It was fun for a while (the comic in particular), but these seemingly endless stories with no clear direction or end goal eventually grow repetitive and boring.

I still feel this way, but I got bored and watched season 10 anyway… and I hated almost all of it. To those saying this Angela person saved the show… uuhhh I don’t see it. It seems the show suffered from a lack of ideas and likely had covid complications. The whisperers were annoying, I didn’t enjoy most of season 9 because of them and the first half of season 10 was the same. The main bitch lady was so annoying and just that whole story arc was bizarre and uninteresting. It was entertaining enough to keep it on and see what happens tho…

Then things started to change in the second half of season 10. This is where the covid complications started to happen (I think?) because it forced them to have smaller sets and just focus on a couple characters at a time. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s fine, because in the end I thought those episodes were pretty great. It made me wish they never went through the whole whisperers arc and just focused more on stand alone episodes where they dived into the characters and their relationships. It was really refreshing.

And then, out of fucking nowhere, we get one of the best episodes of the series and quite personally one of the best payoffs in television history with Negans backstory.

WTF!? Where was this quality for the last 2 or 3 seasons? It was phenomenal! They could have made a whole movie out of that shit. I absolutely loved every second of it. It was brutal, heart wrenching and felt like the quality we got in old school episodes of the walking dead. I am still thinking about it today and I am absolutely going to watch that episode again. It was so fucking good, that I’m glad I stuck around just for that one episode. The joe cocker song playing in the background as the house burns down, and the front door explodes off the hinges with negan walking out of it was like a top 10 television moment for me. AAHHH! So good!

I can’t say I’m looking forward to this whole breaking it up into three parts for the final season, but I will check it out. Im too invested now.

This feels like a final send off for all things zombie genre, to me. Back when the zombie craze exploded in the late 2000s, I was right there along with everyone else, reading the zombie survival guide and world war z, playing left 4 dead for hours, following news about the upcoming zombie series “the walking dead”, etc. the zombie thing has been dead for a while, but I was such a big fan of anything zombie related that it will always have a special place in my heart, and I’m really looking forward to how they are going to blow up this pop sickle stand.

Represent. Represent. what did you think of negans episode, the season 10 finale?

Stopped watching after the war with Negan ended
if you enjoyed negan as a character or just like jeffery morgan in general, i highly suggest watching season 10 episode 22 (the season 10 finale), its on netflix. its his back story and can be enjoyed as a stand alone thing.

i also gave up after the war with negan, and i think the show should have ended there to be quite honest. i only watched the last few seasons out of boredom. but his back story episode was one of the best in the series... maybe THE best episode in the series, imo.

Stopped watching season seven. It is still popular?
no not at all lol. the quality really dropped. i bumped the thread mostly to gush about how amazing the negan backstory episode was (season 10 finale). the three seasons leading up to that episode were not that great imo, and most people agree. but straight up i thought the season 10 finale was probably the best episode in the series. jeffery morgan is such a great actor and negan is a really interesting character.

i cant recommend watching the last few seasons, but i must recommend everyone watch that episode if they enjoyed negan or jeffery morgan as an actor. it really resonated w me because of my own personal connection to the story and the parallels between negan and myself, so maybe its just me, but at the same time every where im reading on the internet people are saying its one of the best episode in the series, if not the best episode in the series. it was a very satisfying payoff to finally see how he ended up the way he is.

there are some interesting things stirring for season 11, and i have a feeling they will be able to tie up all the story lines, and im sure they willbbring back some old characters and kill off some important ones. hopefully it ends without all the doom and gloom, jfc have we had enough of that in this show. but whatever happens, id say its worth the watch if youre bored enough, but dont expect much.

but whatever you do, dont sleep on the negan episode. it felt like old school walking dead and can be enjoyed as a stand alone episode even if you have no idea whats going on in the series. i wish they would have done more episodes like that. now that im thinking it, an anthology take like the world war z book would have been pretty cool.

Kev... have you been beating people's brains in with a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat again?

I told you to stop it. You'll get RSI.

Do they ever explain where the zombies come from? And don’t say “it’s not important”, because credible-explanations are incredibly important to suspension of disbelief. I watched about 4 seasons and dropped it when I realized they were probably never going to explain the outbreak.

It's really not important

Gotta agree with Kev Kev, that Negan episode is easily the best of the series. It's right up there with the "Out of Gas" episode of Firefly and BSG's "Unfinished Business".
