@$60 they need to sell over 16 million copies in 24 hours?

Maybe im wrong, seeing how many records GTA5 broke (on 2 established platforms, each 80million+).

Full list of Grand Theft Auto V record-breaking achievements:

1. Best-selling action-adventure videogame in 24 hours

2. Best-selling videogame in 24 hours

3. Fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion

4. Fastest videogame to gross $1 billion

5. Highest grossing videogame in 24 hours

6. Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours

7. Most viewed trailer for an action-adventure videogame

Well I assume it will be cross gen. Plenty of people to sell it to. Plus we never got a real PS4/XOne GTA, so there’s plenty of demand.

GTA 5 grossed over 800 million in 1 day, and over 1 billion in 3 days. GTA 5 has sold over 130 million copies. I could see it selling 20 million in its first 3 days. It’s bigger now than it was in 2013.

Just from February to June this year alone, GTA 5 sold 10 million units (and it’s 7 years old now). If old GTA 5 can sell 10 mil in a quarter, 7 years after launch, why couldn’t a new next gen GTA 6 sell even more at launch?

If it were to be locked as a timed exclusive to PS4/PS5, Sony would have to pay fuck tons to offset the loss in sales they’d have on Xbox, and 750 million is a realistic number for, say, 1 year of exclusivity? Assuming they could sell around 12 million copies on Xbox in year 1.

Hey guys, PS5 is actually PS4.5, MEGATON on actual PS5.
They were waiting for Series X to go first and bluffed em.

Trust me, you'll all be crying that you didn't believe me.
I heard they upgraded the rotary girder and replaced the GPU fluid and got another eleven fitzlrays.

Lockhart is gonna be such a flop lol

MS seemed to be making good moves but I dunno anymore.

I honestly believe it well sell well at $299 to the non forum goers thinking this is next gen.

I mean its still a decent upgrade for someone playing on a current launch day Xbox One.

That's a bummer. It's the next-gen Xbox I was thinking about just as a little side system for PC and PS5.

I think its perfect for a little side system if all you care about is 1080p and playing some simple Gamepass games.

If you compare the rumored Lockhart specs to Xbox One S, it’s a solid upgrade across the board. Much better CPU, better GPU, more RAM, much faster storage. As a 1080p box, it could be great lower price option for many.

It might be digital only, so that could matter for some. But if it’s just for game pass, then no need for a disc drive.

I will admit it's hard to think outside the bubble of being an enthusiast sometimes.. but I still don't buy this "it will sell well because it's next-gen and $300" thing... it's still an Xbox, and they just haven't been that popular.

Indeed, it was just your comment "I have heard no one wants it."

Is that the devs not wanting to have to port XSX games to it? Are they likely to spend little time optimizing and Xbox Series S ends up being a load of jank anyway?

Yeah I dont mean its a PS5 killer I just think it will fill an itch for a lot of people.
Well I have seen numerous comments from some typical Playstation only owners expressing interest in it as a low cost thing to get Gamepass for.

So I've seen anecdotal interest for it, but I just don't know about mass appeal. I doubt it will be such an increase to actually justify the fact you now have complicated your ecosystem for developers, and yourself.

Yeah that was my intent that again the very little I have heard people talking to people the Devs dont want the thing just something else to account for.

Maybe Lockhart is not just a "1080p machine" as everyone was thinking. We know it is rumored to have a weaker GPU and less RAM, but what else? Maybe a weaker CPU and a slower SSD, just slower overall. And that's why devs just don't want it.

Lockhart is in several Devs hands as we speak even Jez Cordon confirmed this and from the very little whispers I have heard no one wants it.

I thought it was already proven that it wouldn't hold next gen back?

I wonder what the issue can be?

Assuming their gripes are true if course.

I don't think they would do anything crazy and have a HDD in the thing just so they can sell it on the cheap.

Story time boys and girls so gather around the campfire.

The story I am about to tell is filled with rumors and speculations.

There is no talk from crazy birds here.

Lastnight while playing Warzone with some friends who are pretty far up the food chain in the gaming world we talked about whats coming.

One of my buddies was told (he claims a good source) Xbox will announce Mon (maybe Tues) that they are having their show this Thursday and is quite certain Lokchart gets revealed because they have said devkit in house.

Wednesday places like IGN are going to talk about one of the Sony 3rd party exclusives right before said Xbox show.

This will not be the big one that Sony has and he heard the exact same thing others have and if true its a monster.

Again these are rumors and speculations, perfect place in a speculations thread.
Dates don't seem to match that one guys summerfest track thing. Maybe they'll announce Monday or Tuesday that it's the Thursday after that and not the coming Thursday? Would also be very short notice, no?

For parents, it could end being a solid Christmas gift option. This could be the choice when holiday shopping:

Option A - spend $600 all at once, get your kid a new PS5 and 1 game ($500+tax + $60+tax)
Option B - sign up to spend $25/month for 24 months, get your kid a new Xbox and 100 games

Many parents won’t know the spec differences between the boxes. Not having to spend big money up front on your kids new console christmas gift is very appealing cause you have more money to spend on other gifts for family, etc.

Parnets hear/read ”I can get my kid a new console and it comes with over 100 games? Like Netflix but for games? And it only costs $25 a month?“ and they might give it a shot.

I think for devs it’s just they want the new baseline for every generation to be as high as possible. New consoles set the baseline for 7-8 years, and we saw that mid-gen refreshes don’t raise that baseline.

Chanced Remedy's new game is exclusive in some form? They've already said they're working on it (I believe), Shuhei went to visit them last year and didn't Remedy devs visit some PS studios last year?

Probably putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 but still.

Also just seeing Remedy is working on a new game set in the same world as Control and Alan Wake. Could this be the "thing people associate with Xbox" at all?

C'mon man. Will there even be 12 million physical Xboxes in year 1? GTA V sold under 10 million units on XBO in total.

750 million is fantasy land for timed exclusivity.

Unforutenly our man @Bo_Hazem has got himself banned from this channel for 10 days, seems he upset someone here.

He would like to say sorry for what he has done and will use this time for reflection, by spending those days alone in the desert with a herd of camels.

He shall return a much improved man.

Huh, what did he do to get a suspension?

(I refuse to call it a ban since a ban is permanent by it's definition)

I said if GTA 6 was cross gen. (PS4, PS5, XOne, XSX.)

I was just making up a scenario to show how Rockstar might arrive at such a number. Maybe 12 million is too high a guess for those Xbox year 1 sales, but that wasn’t really the point.

Also, I don’t believe the 750 number per say, cause I have no idea if that guy is credible. For all I know he just made that shit up.

It seems like BS to me. But If I was to entertain it. The only way to make logic of it.

Its a content deal of somekind.Spread over 7 years. 150mill first year. Then 100mill for 7 years.

This is the only way I can make sense of ROI & the numbers. Anything else is straight fantasy land. No one spends this big unless they out right buy for ownership.

Then it would stagger you to find out what one of the console manufacturers paid for 30 day exclusivity of CoD in the past.

It could be the guy making up a number based on 7 year console cycle and the franchise is an annual release, like COD is. Assuming the guy is just guessing, how could he have arrived at that number?

If there are 7 yearly CODs, each costing Sony 100+ mil to buy as exclusive, plus some extras/DLC, then there’s the 750 million.

I don’t think it will happen. I don’t have any reason to believe that random guy. But sure I can make up ways the numbers could add up.

For that giant sum, if that did happen, it would still seem more likely to be GTA related. Rockstar has the power to demand tons of cash.

I'm treating this as a hypothetical exercise, I think the whole thing is bullshit.

I missed your point about cross gen. I would be surprised if GTA 6 came to current gen platforms But that would change the arithmetic a bit

But even if Xbox were to sell 20 million units in total across the generation (and that’s being generous) what’s that worth in total? 30-40% of 20 million x $60? You get to maybe $500 million tops.

If we were talking timed exclusive then that’s deferred not lost revenue so we’re talking about the time value of money not the total money. Waiting a year for $500 million would be worth what? $50 Million? And that’s overstating it as im assume a whole generation's income for year one.

As I said earlier, the number is nuts.

It's kind of a shame when you think about it. If developers are not happy with it, it may not get the support it needs, which could limit the amount of titles for it. Lockheart seems to have been made for easy transition from Series X, but maybe there's more work that goes into redoing assets for a 1080P machine than Microsoft thinks? I dunno. What I do know is the promise of such a machine for people that want to upgrade and play next-gen game, but don't have that kind of cash. They probably already have a 1080P set that they're happy with, and here comes a console targeted for that resolution at a much cheaper next-gen entry. You can than add on Game Pass for an even bigger savings over time. Who knows, maybe it actually is simple to transition games to Lockheart, but at the end of the day, it's one more system developers need to get their game looking and running well on.

So associated with PlayStation then?

FFVI was thrown out a couple of times.
Something this expensive.... I'm betting GTA6 or COD.
I love FF but it won't move so much units, unless we are talking indeed FFVI remake. But how would they handle it?
I mean, they have FFVIIR part 2 in full production now and project Athia.

The Konami rumors align with Osiris prediction... way too many possibilities.

Shit I forgot about Alan Wake, makes sense. Remedy owns it now. I loved Max Payne and Alan Wake. Yet to try Control as it runs poorly on base consoles. (anyone could confirm if this was patched?)

MS seemed to be making good moves but I dunno anymore.
I don’t think it’ll flop with consumers, but FFS Microsoft, give devs some rest, lol. X1 was already harder to work with and now devs need to make games to 2 new Xboxes. They should take a page from Sony’s book here.
