It's supported by the fact the game is called Marvels Avenger's and that Spiderman is one of if not the most popular Avenger lol

"Gee guys, wow.. Sony.. great idea! Including one of the World's most popular Avenger's in an Avenger's game! Why didn't WE think of that?"

Either way this convo is getting tired as I really don't care about this particular game lol
Spider-Man is NOT one of the most popular Avengers. Half the Marvel characters in the comics hardly consider him one.

He's one of the most popular MARVEL characters, though. If not THE most popular. The MCU did a solid job in elevating Iron Man's popularity as well.

Lockhart without a controller is an answer looking for a question. Who the hell are they aiming for?
Well it's a pulled out of someone's ass rumor so it's probably fake.

But the idea would obviously just to be to hit the lowest possible price point.. and since past Xbox controllers work with the new generation, it's an option for people who don't need another controller.

Is he? I get he’s the most popular Marvel character, like Batman is the most popular DC character, but I don’t actually associate him that much with the Avengers. As far as I’m concerned (and probably for a lot of casuals players too) The Avengers are led by Iron Man, because of the films. Those guys are the Avengers to me. Spidey’s an afterthought. But then I’m clearly a D.C. guy, so I guess he’s more part of the comic Avengers?

One of the main plot lines of the last couple of MCU films is Spiderman becoming an Avenger. And in fact.. he was made the leader of the Avengers even.

MS really aiming for bottom of the barrel and hoping broke people put their credit cards out for 120-150 year plus micro transactions?

Who are these people?!

It would be like those eco friendly PSUs that don't include a power cord. They could leave out the hdmi and the power cord too (assuming it uses the same that the 1S/1X are using) and call it the quick switch bundle. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

In the early days of computers, some of them were sold as DYI kits because they were so horrendously expensive that it was sometimes the only way to cut costs. I know Apple sold Lisa that way. Maybe it's the next step in our current world of struggling economy? ;)

Well like I said; Jeff Grub is just saying random shit and doesn't appear to be even claiming to know some inside info.

It's hard to believe since it would just cause SKU confusion.

A controller doesn't help you reduce the price, they cost literally $10 to make, are sold at a huge markup usually to make up for losses on the console itself, and since they are all pretty much platform exclusive and priced in a linear manner over time people don't realize how much of a rip-off they are. This is the weird part of this idea.

Maybe Lockhart is something that doesn't NEED a controller. But don't ask me what it is. I'm betting a Surface for gamers but then it'd need it anyway.

I think you guys put too much faith in random BOM estimates, but either way BOM isn't cost.

And no matter what the cost is they sell them for $60 and know they need replacing. So they can eat more than BOM on the price drop and make it back when the person buying it inevitably spills mountain dew on their controller.

But all of this is just theorizing on a rumor that's probably not true lol They would only do this if the price drop was significant ($50), and I agree it's far fetched.

If by going mcu then iron man and cap are the most popular. Comics then its cap ironman or hawkeye. Spidey doesnt doesnt even come into the equation til later. The game is clearly using all the original avengers from the mcu movie.

It better not be true. If they really increase the price of Gold by only removing 12 month, and ship without a controller, even Stadia will be posting the Kermit sipping tea memes.

But... the lighting. Maybe if they add RT everything will look much better. Enough to make me overlook the age of the assets and performance.
Right?

I’m just gonna cut to the chase here. Did you feel underwhelmed by the Horizon: Zero Dawn PC port? Would you say it looks “flat” or “current gen”? This can be easily explained and what it really comes down to is the..............lighting!

Well Jeff Grub who invented this rumor said in the same Twitter thread "There will definitely be a version that includes a controller."

Man, I remember when 360 launched. Some people were confused by the difference between the version with and without a hard drive. Now we've got two different Xbox's, one of which comes with and without a controller. Two different PS4's, one with and without a disc drive. And then there's likely differing size ssd's I'm guessing. The options are gonna be wild.

I wouldn't be so sure wit ssd differentiation. At least on launch I think all will be the same.

Maybe they shifted to a full partnership with another company to provide VR solution for Xbox and Hololense is going to remain a small internal project so he decided to venture elsewhere?
Well was there any indication Xbox was looking into VR internally?

I don't think that Will Stillwell guy ever claimed the "Mixed Reality" job was anything to do with Xbox.

Seems like i recall people speculating because he was previously involved in XBO BC, then moved to xCloud, then to Mixed Reality... who knows?

Yeah the speculation makes sense, but MS's "Mixed Reality" group doesn't really do gaming. And if he was heading it up, he'd have a lot more to do than just bring VR to XBox.

But maybe he wanted to and MS said no, and that's why he left?

Who knows.. don't really care myself.. I'd much rather MS just support PC VR headsets.

My point exactly.

I don’t think most people are going to give two rosy fucks about not playing as Spider-man. Nobody outside comic readers sees Spidey as an Avenger. It’s all Stark, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Widow and Bargain Bin Green Arrow, thanks to the MCU.

This makes no sense whatsoever.

Controllers are one of the cheapest parts of a console to produce and are usually sold at a huge premium.

If Microsoft took out the controller from the console, they would be saving $10-$15 on their end. Sure, you could push the price of Lockhart down maybe an extra $25 for those who are already set with Xbox One controllers... but they would also in practice push it $25 UP for everybody else (assuming a controller on its own will retail for about $50).

I'm not saying this can't be a strategy, but it's definitely not a strategy that can expand your marketshare when you are already the underdog. If anything, if Lockhart costs around $300 to ship, they might as well sell it for $299 and throw in a SECOND controller to increase the perceived value of the package (not saying it's going to happen, but as a "bold strategy" it would make a lot more sense than the opposite).
This Jeff guy is big bulshitter. He is giving generic info with big disclaimers so that his "inside info" will always seem right.
He was recently wrong with xbox live gold going free and he will be wrong with this one too

It is when they feel threatened by the competition. It's the only reason why they are doing this.

Have the two engage in fierce competition should be seen as a good thing not a bad one.

Feel threatened? I thought you were joking in previous post. It's most likely they wanna crush the competition and destroy xbox as a relevant console = more migrants to their system. Make their business bleed to death.

I can see Sony being worried about something like Gamepass for example.

Why would they? Don't they have PS Now? If so, they would've followed them in their madness. I personally see more value in PS Now than Gamepass, not sure what are people looking at.

Xbox is dying, and they're not good enough to compete on the PC field, and steam can start now a similar service if it's any beneficial and we know what that means. I predict a similar future to Mixer.

Nice comment:

Probably Guerrilla just do what they can with budget assigned, forcing many things and ends
with bad port but hey optimizations for consoles doesn't exists right, everything is right with brute force.

Even when this not forgive a bad port also the PC community are many armchair devs with for them
always is bad port because its PC should be able to do the the same as any console multiply per 8.

Everytime you asked to them about a good PC game with graphics AAA in the last years they only mention Battlefield, Doom,
Forza Horizon, Gears and now DS , is just ridiculous think they only think in few titles.

I mean probably the reason of why the ports are "bad" is because basically they refuse to pay a complete price for a game
because Steam has badly gotten used to the PC users to pay a fraction of the original price even the indies now get
more money from Switch than PC for the love of God combine with the huge spectrum of configurations, so for the studios
is not worth it many times.
