Am I the only one who's been re-watching the PS5 event in it's entirety, the hardware reveal trailer, the youtuber reactions every day since june 11th? I am obsessed about the PS5 just as I was with every single PS before it. Can't wait to hear more new exciting info about it and hopefully get my hands on it day one. Who's here with me? :)
what's your greatest reaction video for ps5 event? i really liked this one

The thing that annoys me about what happened in there was the arguing about PC specifications vs consoles.

PC will always be more powerful than the console systems. It has always been that way and forever shall be so.

That shouldn't be a reason to come in all preachy about it. People are excited because this is the first time that consoles have really stepped up their power levels that I can remember.

So they may not stand up to a 2080ti or 30xx+ GPU. Of course not. But I, like many, do not have $700+ to put into a GPU, $300+ for a CPU, etc.

Yes, you can build a PC and save money here and there. But if you're, as I call it, "future-proofing", you're looking at some seriously big money.

Even then, I feel the adage I believed in rings true, which is even if you spent ABSOLUTE top dollar, PC tech advancements would obsolete your equipment in a year's time.

PS5 may not have the raw TF number, but it definitely has far more secrets and customized features than we've officially heard about.

If it didn't, you'd see a lot more real devs talking about the significant "performance gap"(looking at raw specs), which they don't seem to say that really exists. Most devs seem very happy with Sony's machine.

You should at least spend $3000 for a high end PC, less than that is complete bullshit. After all that, you can't beat PS5, it's a fact, any modern high end PC if you try to run that UE5 demo with raw, uncompressed 8K assets, 16K shadows it'll simply crash:

yesterday was the hottest day of the year, started playing uncharted 4 and I have never heard my ps4 pro sound like that before. turned console after 10 minutes, not taking any chances.
That's another reason I'm aching to get my PS5 home. If the fan goes a little whee, I'll pause the game and the console will cool itself while I draw my comic and pass a few minutes.

I do this on my new PC. Every now and then I pause Skyrim and the PC cools itself off. Although truth be told, loading times becoming obsolete may just make me turn off the game itself.

I still have never heard my PS4 Pro.

Maybe I'm just lucky?

I make my wife dust in the nude twice a day and fan my PS4 when it gets hot, maybe that's it?

Either you are half deaf or have noisy apartment, or both🤔

Even switch is easy to hear from 2-4m away when docked, on normal quiet apartment(no aircon/traffic noises etc) and it is super quiet vs pro.

Unless you live in mansion and game from 10m / 30feet, it is kind of impossible to believe that you would not hear it, if apartment isnt noisy / hearing is normal.

Because it would mean that the console is max 20-30dB close by(under background noise levels) and that is hard to believe as most are measured around 50-70dB which is like tens/hundred time more than that

Of course if you have fan, noisy fan running next to it, it is hard to hear😂

I can atest to having a noisy pro system which i bought a year after my mate bought his, and his is MUCH quieter than mine 😢. He bought his about 3 months after launch. Mind you I bought mine to replace the standard model, which had started to sound like a rocket, so you win some you lose some? 🤷‍♂️

There are a blessed few, the Chosen Ones, who were blessed by the Elder Gods and were given the Holy PS4 Pros, a unique strain which have actually quiet fans and make no noise at all.

Those units are so few, so rare that they became History, Myth and Legend.

But ...

It's True. All of it.

Pretty much always have an AC on, and I'm sitting next to 2 laptops and a PC running fans lol

I'm sure I've technically heard it.. I just mean I've never heard the thing go crazy loud.

I'm like 2 feet from it and put at least 20 hours into Ghosts in the last week and it never went crazy.

Same, my pro is never silent but has never approached 'jet engine'.

It's probably kids putting them sat on thick dusty carpet with a coupla hairy dogs arses brushing past the vents several times a day.

I'm highly, highly sophisticated in all aspects of my life, that includes cleanliness and care for items I own. You should see how clean my PC desk is.

Hmmmm.

I’m looking at an LG CX 65 at the moment (C9’s no longer available), but I might look into these Sony TVs as well. I game on a Bravia right now, and it’s served me pretty well.

LG CX, C9, and Sony X900H (XH90) are the best 3 tv's for PS5. Only problem with CX is potential burn-in, longevity in general, and 24-30fps stutter. Wanna know more? Jump here:

Anyways what kind of Features are you guys hoping to be included for the next OS? Here are a few of mine:

- A mixer for PSN party
- Wishlist for PS store
- Let me gift games/dlc's
- A complete overhaul of Communities (Filters, Members hierarchy, Topics, Integration with events, Search functionality, moderation tools, some form of visual customization, etc)
- Enable me to delete games in my trophy list (this annoys me...)
- Customizable stream overlay and added functionality (widget like modules)
- Allow us to play music over stream, perhaps Spotify could add a different subscription model to allow this
- Tag functionality for recorded gameplay/screenshots
- A more streamlined way to upload user generated content to other platforms
- More stats for games and the ability to turn it off / hide from other players

Mixer??!? 😉

I like that we are getting a complete UI overhaul. I like the PS4 one, but new is shiny 😁

You can delete 0% games in your trophy list can't you?

To be honest I was pretty impressed with the solution used by the Decima engine. It cleaned up the imagine nicely. But tbh my TV is only 40 inches so I suppose imagine clarity is going to be worse for those with larger screens

Man, I've seen base PS4 on 75" 4K's, and it still looks pretty good. I'm using 55" 4K now and going 65" or higher with PS5. Sony TV's upscaling is insane as well.

This is the first game showed on Xbox May event, is it a console launch exclusive?

I played the first episode of that on PC. It's impressive for something made by one guy, shows what you can do with modern tools. It looks like a much bigger production than it is though, it's ultimately a small indie game. "Infinite" is compiling all the planned future parts afaik. Everyone who bought Bright Memory in early access is getting Infinite for free. Infinite will be on Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, so the PS5 will be able to run it at least in PS4 mode.

So now I'm in this thread and without the fear of being brigaded I can be happy and excited about the PS5 and the custom tech?

That the thought of no loading is amazing because everything runs so fast from the SSD that from the moment you press start on a game in the home screen, it could possibly load you straight into the game, no booting or loading screens, just straight up into gameplay.
It's just hype to see games and developers use clever custom made hardware with specialised tools to offload all the design limitations from all CPU, GPU and RAM.

Now that decompression has its own chip as well as sound. How will developers use that spare power?
Now that the RAM doesn't have to store as much possibly unused assets or even the OS because the SSD is fast enough to load up stuff directly that isn't as essential to the immediate rendering, especially with the Geometry Engine and coprocessors dealing with maps and mesh and the SSD having the speed to provide the higher quality versions of assets up to 22GBs if coders know how to compress right.

And the GPU is now able to do more stuff with both RAM, because there's more of it to use with the lack of having to hold onto future assets, because it doesn't need to wait for the next batch of data from a slow HDD but also being directly able to access certain assets and textures directly from the SSD to render without going into RAM.

There's now just so much spare processing power and memory to use throughout, it's glorious!
I don't mean to be a tech head but when I, as a mere peon, can see that Sony are saying to develops "Here is a machine we've designed that makes all the tricks and short cuts you've had to create in game-making, like load screens and level designed corridors for asset switching in RAM are gone. These are no longer game design constraints. Go nuts!"

Because of that, I can see why developers are getting excited about the PS5's capabilities... I am as a gamer.

Epic were right the storage is a generation ahead it can fetch whatever asset that is needed in a fraction of a second giving developers real freedom that we haven't seen before

So, I was browsing around and found something that may get us fans jonesing in anticipation.

It looks like Jez Corden has also joined in saying that Sony has secured some major third party exclusives this time. And seems to be major stuff akin to the days of Final Fantasy, etc. and not just the ol' "Call of Duty maps and marketing" shtick.

This is in-line with what Imran Khan(I believe?) said a while back also. Exciting to see it, but I have to admit I'm not always the biggest fan of moneyhats.

Unless Sony paid for it, it doesn’t make since any more for 3rd party to release exclusive games. 1 year contract maybe.

I think it's probably for the best the fans go off to there own threads and can have fun getting excited and hyped about their platform of choice. There is still more to learn but I think the other thread has run it's course now.

Loading I'm really looking forward to. Such a big quality of experience thing. It also makes a lot of additional gameplay ideas like challenges feasible where a retry is much quicker. That before you even consider graphical options and cleverness.

One ticket please!
