Brian Fleming and Nate Fox talk about possible future projects... say they would love to do more Samurai stuff...
Working on patches now.

Dlc can focus on island of Iki. There's definitely enough content to do dlc also being there were two Mongol invasions enough for another stand alone game. Typhoons destroying large Mongol fleets also really played a part in the destruction and retreating of the Mongols as well. I'm in beginning of chapter 3 so idk if thy included tht but if thy didn't would be dope to see.

Game is a graphical showcase and dope asf. Wish witcher 3 would have had similar type combat (not samurai stuff per se but how everything is executed) then I wouldn't have stopped playing due to boredom. Combat is so good.

Iki would be cool, would be awesome if you could use a boat too....

I really need a sequel where you can build your own samurai clan again.

You know what would be a good spiritual successor or sequel? Someone mentioned wanting yokai, spiritual, supernatural shit like Nioh does and tht would be dope. Imagine including those aspects bcus Jin dies and his journey begins in the after life, full with yokai and supernatural shit. Wow this engine and team could make a nioh type but so much better.

While a sequel also focusing on mongl invasion isnt a terrible idea, the ending opens other story possibilities a Ghost of Tsushima 2 could pick up on.

Yeah I was thinking about how they could get stuff like that in without sacrificing the realism of the combat and over-world. I dunno if you'd agree but I had this idea of him being haunted by what he had to do and being confronted by demons / yokai and versions of his past enemies in his meditations / dreams.

Haven't got there yet lol 👀 will soon. I'm taking my time with the engulfing beauty of a game. Enjoying side missions very much BTW.

Same, mental calculations says i've spent around 30 hours and wrapped up act 1 and all of the first half of the island's items(collectibles, dens, side quests etc etc) and only then did I get to the save lord shimura part of act 1. I am now on Act 2 and been enjoying the exploration and side quests in act 2 part of the island. Don't feel like rushing at all, not bored by one milli second at all even though i am not doing main story quests.

Welp. Just finished it, and I can confidently say that this is probably the best game I've played on the PS4. Now I ranked The Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 as the best games I've played this generation followed closely by God of War. But goddamn, Ghost of Tsushima just tops all of them by how fun it is to play along with it's spectacular presentation. In fact if I were to list down my favorite things about things about the they'd be:

- The challenging yet fun melee combat
- The incredible visuals
- The presentation, particularly how the presented the Mythic tales and the haiku
- The acting. I know some people insist that the Japanese voiceover is the only way to play the game. But I think it does a disservice to the English voice cast who do a fine job acting out the scenes, since they also did the mocap.
- The story. It doesn't quite reach the heights of The Witcher 3 or RDR2, but it's damn close and hits all the right notes when it needs to.

I give this game a solid 10/10. It's fantastic in every way.

And can I just talk about the final part of the companion quests in Act 3? The writing on each of these were stellar and had great tragedy and pathos reminiscent of The Bloody Baron storyline in The Witcher 3.

Masako's Tale
Masako's elder sister Hana being the mastermind of the Adachi clan massacre wasn't the most original twist to be honest. But how it played out in the game made for some great drama. While there was no excusing Hana's crime, her reasons for doing it were understandable in a sense. After all, she was forced to move away from their home to the north of Tsushima after Masako arranged her to be married to a widowed retainer named Ikeda, who turned out to be an abusive drunk.

The final confrontation between the two sisters really hammers home the point that each of them have been hurt by the other. I think in the end Masako finally accepts that and rather than killing Hana in cold blood, she offers her sister a last bit of kindness by letting take her own life. This is some epic tragedy and kudos to Sucker Punch for pulling if off.

Norio's Tale
The end of Norio's story really shocked and moved me, and provided a nice anticlimax to what I thought was going to be typical mission. I honestly expected Norio to die a hero's death trying to kill the Mongol general who tortured his brother, who we found alive in the previous mission much to my surprise. But the game subverts our expectations by having Norio complete his revenge without Jin's help. In the end he and Jin have a great conversation regarding his actions, as Norio believes he's strayed too far from the path Buddha to continue being a monk. But Jin convinces him to stay on, for the good of Tsushima.

Sensei Ishikawa's Tale
Throughout our time with Sensei Ishikawa, he constantly reminds us of what a monster his former student Tomoe is. But when we finally meet her in the penultimate mission, it turns out she's actually quite pleasant and not the psychopath we've been led to believe. She then asks Jin and Ishikawa's help to kill the archers she trained for the Mongols, who betrayed her.

What I like about this tale is the whole moral ambiguity of it. Is Tomoe a monster who relishes killing? An opportunist playing both sides for her benefit? Or simply a woman trying to survive by whatever means neccesary? None of these questions is answered definitively in the end., as Tomoe leaves Tsushima for the mainland without having to answer for her crimes and Jin and Ishikawa elect to let her go in peace.

Lol I may not agree with Witcher 3/RDR 2 as I dropped both due to boredom, mediocre combat and other factors between the two, I can respect someone's differing opinion and can agree tht Ghost of T is sublime, fun, engaging, great story, sidequests, beautiful graphics etc the combat is ace and is the star of the show. Glad you are enjoying it as I am. Up there with my best of this gen Horizon, Tlou 2, God of War and Bloodborne.

The death, or a coma or your scenario all could work. It could be called "the haunting of Tsushima" or some shit. So many ways to make this work.

So what is up with the upgrade costs going (way) up when you complete an act? I went into the last mission of Act 1 with enough resources to do the final upgrade on my Tanto, but was saving for the second to last sword upgrade. Then when I start Act 2.... i no longer have near enough for the Tanto upgrade and the Sword upgrade went from being 8 steel away to something like 80 away. Am I missing something? I get it that the rewards are bigger in Act 2, but just seems weird that I COULD have gotten that upgrade in Act 1.

Did anyone figure out how to check actual stats in the game that'd show our play time etc? Last of Us Part II had play time show up in the save files, not seeing anything here in ghost

156 million stand-offs. Nice. I've contributed a fair amount to that total. Doing my bit :messenger_bicep:

Did a little experiment today. Stuck on Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for the first time in a while, just to compare & contrast. I enjoyed that game, finished the main story & both expansions. Kassandra is fully levelled up in my save file.

It doesn't hold up well against Ghost of Tsushima. In fact, going back, it feels kind of terrible to play now. The combat "feel" is just so much worse, I can't even properly describe it.

It's got me a bit worried for Valhalla, which I was looking forward to.

I'm seriously thinking that maybe the combat systems in GoT could be the best in any open world game. Ever.

I think Arkham Knight and Spiderman's are both better. They are both much better at handling group combat but I GoT with a little polishing could definitely be up there. Its pretty impressive for a first attempt at a melee combat system.

Finished the main quest, i'm only missing the last myth and a couple of mongol camps which are tied to it. Overall i thought it was pretty cool but i can see so clearly that the game was designed thinking in something way bigger and they had to cut and adjust to get it out the door in time. The ending felt a little limp mainly because the game never turned the odds against Jin, the final showdown was pretty cool tho, but too short for my taste.
Really looking forward to the sequel.

It was cool in a thematic way to get to choose to kill or spare Shimura, it really captured that idea that killing him was the obvious right choice in the context. They really bang you over the head with the idea that Shimura would never be ok with failing to the shogun since he is an old type samurai and the consequence that if both get to live there would be a inevitable civil war of sorts, so at least letting him die there it's a glimpse of hope for Tsushima and some peace for Shimura since he gets a warriors death instead of living in shame.

Spider-Man's was very good, I agree. I don't think it had such a wide variety of genuinely useful perks & skills though. I had a few trusted tactics that I used in that game. I only really used a few of the suit powers, for example. They mostly felt different on the surface level, if you know what I mean, rather than being actual game-changers during a fight. That could have been my failing though.

Never played Arkham Knight, but Arkham Asylum was great. If they just built on that game, I'm sure it's good.

I dunno man. In GoT I really do feel like every combat option, the different stances, the bows, Kunai, bombs, special moves, etc... I think they're all useful in their own ways. I'm using every one of them at different times during fights & they're all effective. They all feel powerful. There are less outfits with "powers" but again, they all feel useful depending on the circumstances or the approach I take. Every single level up feels like it has an impact. I think this game has ridiculously well designed systems.

Maybe I should've just said, I think GoT has my favourite combat systems in any open world game. Ever!

I'm just loving my time with the game & gushing a bit.

As I get closer to the ending, it feels like SP really built GoT as the Assassin's Creed of their dreams, even some of the conflicts within the narrative feels like something out of a AC.

Really loving it, my favorite new IP of the gen.

I bet they'll release a First Light kind of expansion for the PS5 along with a graphics upgrade to the main game.

Just beat the main story! Oh man this is definitely contender of gotg for me.

Yeah this probably just ruined Valhalla for all of us haha

Yea right? By the time I completed the game I had no idea why would any reviewer would give it a score below 9.. 8.5 is pushing it.
I don't mind reviews going hard from time to time and the 7's, 7.5's don't annoy me but the game deserved a higher meta on the critic side overall I feel and a lot of the criticisms were not fair.... they definitely didn't go this hard on Horizon or BOTW.

I don't know why this game was singled out for more criticism?! Maybe because for a long time going back it wasn't as hyped up and marketed as heavily? I'm not sure...

I think its more dynamic in GoT. One wrong step and the dynamic of the battle completely changes. You can also mix and match, stealth, standoff and finish with going loud.

I love it. It's like they've taken the best in class of everything and just created this amazing combat system. If anything its too good, and they really need a rogue agent or mercenary system for wandering enemies with unique skills to battle.

Question. One of the mystic quests asks me to find the strawhat in toyamata or summat. Where is it?

Yeah this game at least deserves a 89 imo

To me it's way better than Horizon Zero Dawn but I think Horizon Forbidden West will be a 90+ scoring game

I don't mind the idea. I think the problem was it conflicted with the bounty hunters and fire was way OP as were the animal adds.

A DLC with like 12 unique Ronin that have kunai, smoke bombs, bows etc would be fucking cool. Dual swords, unique charms/buffs etc. Their is a lot to play with there.

Yeah I was just kidding around. I wouldn't mind a few unique, tougher enemies wandering the map.

Just a few though, mind.

& keep them the fuck away from me when I'm trying to clear a camp stealthy but it gets loud.
