Also when you take into account Banshee joined in February and is seemingly very locked in on making everyone else look like hypocrites or terrible people for just simple enjoying video games and the consoles they play them on I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a troll account meant to bait people into getting banned. In fact I wouldn't surprised if it was one of you guys on here lol
But going off of the activity of their threads most people aren't taking the bait anymore. You can get giant threads about that stuff in the Etc section, but on gaming side that stuff doesn't fly as easily. Especially if it centers around a popular game or company. Most people on gaming side just wanna play their games. They don't care who made their console or what their favorite developers politics are. And this Banshee person seems to be entirely ignorant of that fact.

Honestly I think it's more pandering than protection. Because if you notice the Banshee person has repeatedly called for threads about "problematic" games be banned entirely because it gives "free press" and the staff and stately flatly that it's not going to happen. If it was a mod in disguise you would think the staff would support the ideas they are producing rather than straight up shooting them down.
I think it's a person (or a troll) that is arguing very loudly for things that are morally correct, but that nobody wants to hear on gaming side. The staff knows this, but they can't exactly shut down discussion of arguably the most anticipated game of the last few years. And they are afraid to just say "hey cut it out" for fear of the backlash they would get. So instead they are just letting them make their threads and letting them call for this and that.
Basically they are just letting them shout angrily into the void about things needing to be better without actually planning to do anything about it since most of gaming side doesn't care.
EDIT: Holy shit I just realized their location is set to "from under a bridge" in their profile. They are absolutely a troll account I think.

I agree that "African-American", or any "hyphen american", is really dumb because all it does is heighten the perceived difference rather than unite countrymen. I don't think it's a mod's alt, just a prominient member. Those don't always agree with mods decisions, and they are sometimes very loud on that.
There was already an era poster who got their post's text deleted and their account banned for trolling because they raised suspicions on Banshee being a troll. So the mods definitely know something we don't about that person.
It's just a classic case of an unhinged individual being unrecognizable from actual trolls.

We had fat characters in games, strong women in movies and books, kickass female politicians, prominent gay people, even famous trans people (minus the surgery and the hormone therapy, maybe) long before current_year. Heck, I’ve seen most of those in my lifetime, and I’m not even 40 yet. If only these people had an inch of history knowledge and perspective, they’d know this. Kid me loved Dame Edna, she was really funny. Only years later did I find out that she was a he, didn't matter still funny. Historically there's a whole lot of LBQT performers Larry Grayson, Kenneth Williams, Kenny Everett and Freddy Mercury as well as many others that I've really liked their work.
Yet in 2020 the loudest voices complain that the only reason they are not successful is because of their LBQT/racial status.
