Comparing PS5 Vs Series X size - New pics

Had a quick look, and going by my estimate of 40cm tall because I'm not a tool, it comes out at 27cm wide. That would relate to:

42x29
41x28
40x27
39x26
38x25

40x27 being the most likely candidate. As I said previously, it didn't look to be 20 or 25, but 27 is about good. My previous estimate was based on an angled image anyway.

Still can't be 100% accurate with volume due to it being curved, however, using the 27×7.5×40 and using its SMALLEST/THINNEST point, which makes this value already too small, we get 8100 centimeters3.

But hey, I'll be told I'm wrong in a bit, so have fun guys.

Whats a bigger difference? 20-27cm? Or 27-30cm?

that Xbox is too fat. won't fit on some smaller TV Stand shelves

PS5 may be too tall but you can at least lay it flat horizontally and it will fit (that's what she said)

The images of the PS5 in the second picture have been proven to be fake. The fins of the console in the frontal image are larger than the fins of the console in the official reveal of the console; also, there have been no officially released images or videos of the side of the console.

As for the new pic, it could also possibly be fake. However one thing they did right is that the rectangle itself isn’t actually a perfect rectangle, it does curve ever so slightly when you straighten it out (it’s not a perfect line) which would suggest that it’s a front on shot of a slightly curved flat surface.

whether it’s fake or not, well...

Interesting... perhaps it's made out of some sort of shape-memory alloy, which bends itself like a flower as it gets heated up?
Seriously though... I think it's just shot at straight angle, so that you just don't see the distortion.

Anyhow, Sony may want to borrow SNK's old promotion copy... as the thing looks pretty huge.

It is less than 25cm and closer to 20cm than 30cm.

The general estimate of height is 40 cm. if it’s 40cm, it CANNOT BE close to 20cm wide. Even if it’s 38cm tall that is STILL 25cm wide. Look at the proportions of the pic. This isn’t what “I want”, this is fucking math.

I think both consoles look good in their own ways i just think the xbox will fit into most aesthetics in people’s living rooms with minimal fuss. The ps5 looks good to but would stand out more. I like how my PS4 sit well with my entertainment system. Same colour as my sky box my Apple TV and amazon box

I do believe that’s the idea, for it to stand out, for people to notice it. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that... but if you want it to stand out while black, white and sexy, you look the the Xbox One S. That still remains one of my fave recent designs, it’s just pure class.

Thankfully, I have room for both next gen systems, either horizontal or vertical. But I must say, neither console looks “good” when horizontal. It’s clear they were made with vertical placement in mind.

I disagree, the disc drive version of the PS5 horizontal looks much better than the digital edition to me.

The PS4 will not be bigger than a PS2+N64 put together, and that's not even talking about the other stuff we crammed into that room. It was a single dorm room. Not even a house, a bleeping dorm room. Anyone familiar with dorm rooms in upstate NY knows what I'm talking about. The size concerns are simply console warrior nonsense. There's no reason for me to second-guess that, given what i've seen done with real-life floorspace concerns. If your room is smaller than our dorm rooms, then I can empathize, but I seriously seriously seriously doubt that.

What if I don't want it laying flat? What if I don't want it in a confined space? I always prefer having my consoles in the open to reduce heat.

What some of the people are forgetting is that the massive size of the PS5 is probably due to heating concern. The new Xbox is more powerful yet MS managed to designed it to be smaller in size than the PS5. That just says two things: MS out engineer Sony as far as tech spec and that PS5 may be poorly designed from the start, not taking into size and efficiency considerations.

New Xbox has a very modern cooling system that takes engineering cues from Apple/Dyson. PS5 looks like it's using the traditional fan over heatsink approach. This could explain the physical size difference.

I absolutely believe that heat is a massive concern, coupled with the fact the last few revisions were like jet engines, they just want to be fool proof. Xbox did the same with the original Xbox one VCR, they made it so it wasn’t going to have issues, and it was solid in the end.

What a lot of people forget too is that the PS5 miracle cure SSD, as good as it is, also pumps out a lot more heat than the Series X one. It’s likely got its own cooling solution (heat sink), and that takes up space too.

Even the biggest PS fans I give the time of day to know the Xbox one X HARDWARE is absolutely the top of its game for the tome. It’s silent, small and very well done. It doesn’t surprise me MS made a better job of the actual hardware in this regard.

Need to have an external power supply brick to keep the heat down. :)
The space behind my tv shelf is already a spaghetti mess of wires might as well have a few more bricks back there.
Perhaps that fan drawn cube version of the rumored lockhart will have a power brick to keep the size down.
