I loved everything about the original except for the atrocious combat and some of the annoying trials. I'm curious to see how much they changed it.

Just to make sure I undertand, Nier Replicant is a remaster if the first Nier game, right? I have only played Automata
Back off, I already asked. No one reply to him. Answer me first and give me a few likes before responding to this usurper.
When the game originally came out there was two version, one is Gestalt and another Replicant there is not much different between the two other than you play as father to Yonah in gestalt and as brother in replicant.

Another thing is don't worry about you need to play other to understand first game or Automata. Each game's world are connected but each game take place decade after, I'm pretty sure most people didn't know original NieR takes place after one of the ending in original Drakengard but that didn't stop them from enjoying the overall story.

Yes, 100% agreed, just play the games... They just have some connections, but are 100% enjoyable without knowing the sequels and prequels. Also, just for those who want to know the connection between Drakengard and Nier, loosely spoilers ahead:

Drakengard is set in a dark fantasy medieval world, shit happens in one of the endings and the final boss is sent to "our world", more precisely to Tokyo, near the Tokyo Tower... After the battle, a fighter jet blows the mc and his dragon with missiles... Their (and the boss) corpses becomes some type of curse, that culminates in the Nier setting.

While in Drakengard 3... In one of the endings, we discover that there are time/dimensional android/entities travelers that watch Nier and Drakengard dimensions.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
This is now my most anticipated game. I never played Nier, but I've heard nothing but good things about everything outside of the core gameplay. With PG fixing that, this is gonna be a masterpiece.

Will I have to sell a part of my soul for the Forlorn necklace to drop to get the platinum trophy again?

Very much hype for this, but I also hope one day SE gives Drakengard 3 same treatment as Monolith Soft is giving to original Xenoblade Chronicles.

I would rather have a remake of the first Drakengard since the gameplay is incredibly tedious, but I doubt we will get any because of its uncanny group of "heroes".

Drakengard 1 story is so crazy, I love it.

In our current culture, people really over sensitive about everything, so there is no way in hell we gonna see Drakengard 1 ever get remade or even remastered unless they change most of the story which at that point I rather not get it.

Not happy about new VAs. Laura Bailey and Liam O'Brien were great as Kaine and Grimoire Weiss. Why would they replace them? Other than that, this sounds great, bordering into remake territory. Day 1 for this.

Why please the fans of a inferior game? Doesn't sound right to me, but let's see...
Because the gameplay in Nier Automata is amazing while the one of the original was very clunky? I don't see what's so hard to understand.
Nier Automata is a lot more popular than the first one for different reasons, one of them being the attractive, really fun gameplay by platinum.
Nier 1 can only be better with something closer to Automata's gameplay.
I personally really don't see Automata as the inferior game, as gameplay is what I value the most in a video game.

This is shaping up to be more of a remake than a remaster, which is totally OK, considering the numerous graphical/gameplay flaws of the original.

Hoping the road to best ending gets reworked so that it becomes less tedious to reach it.

The great plot of Nier with the great gameplay of Automata, best of both worlds really !

A remake of Drakengard 3 should be nice as well, so that I can PLAY the game ! :messenger_grinning_squinting: Jk (but not totally !)

I think these days the meaning of “remaster” and “remake” has changed. the original God of War series got remaster on PS3 was ultimately higher resolution of the original game, but then we got games like Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 which was something between remaster and remake.

And we also getting Xenoblade Chronicles DE, is not exactly Remake same way RE2 and FFVIIR but is not exactly remaster either.

From this moment forth, it shall be known as the

Remaster+

I don't remember it being clunky at all. Gameplay-wise I had really great fun with it back in the day's.

Automata on the other hand I quit playing half way through.
Therfore my skepticism...

The gameplay in automata us so much better though. It's also far more flexible so you can get it set up to your liking with the chip system.

Ok, if you say so. My memory may fail me here, but I never had any problems with Nier in the first place.
No flexibility was needed. So 60fps + High Res would be enough for me.
Technically it suffered if I may remember correctly, at least on Ps3.

But again, we'll see. I am open to improvements, but still sceptical concerning gameplay-changes.

Kinda guessed they'd get 96's voice actor in to do brother Nier. I just hope they keep Papa Nier in their too, Jamieson Price did such a good job it;d be a shame to lose him.

Wonder if he'll finally get to do the "call him back" ending mentioned in Grimoire Nier?

Sounds fantastic. This is one game I'm really looking forward to, having missed out the first time around. Automata opened my eyes to the glory & wonder of NieR & I spent some time watching YouTube videos about the whole thing (including Drakengard). Can't wait to see this one for myself.

New ending ?! i hope it won't contradict with the original lore of the story , the drama cds already ruined a couple of things

That main character looks like they came straight from Bravely Default.

Automata-esque combat is enough to put this on my radar.

This actually sounds interesting now. Remaster of those games wasn't getting me excited, I didn't enjoy them at the time, but a full on remake sounds cool.
