So Xbox with a peak of 3.6 but more likely 2.5? Ok. That’s not too bad really, I mean, there are a lot of factors at play here, and to be fair you never really see these improvements in the ways you may think you will. Both are pretty good for a damn console to be fair.

They are going to have a very big SOC so they are to cut corners somewhere else. Hopefully Sony doesnt spend ton of money on custom SSDs, controllers, DRAMs, 3D audio and then come 3TF short.

So is the Feb 5 PS meeting date in some leaks pretty much dead? It's two weeks away and we've got no announcement.

That leaves Feb ~15, which would still fall late this week or early next week (if Sony announces it 3 weeks in advance like last time).

Sony needs to give people time for travel accommodations so it's not like they're just going to drop the invite 1 week before it happens.

No way they'll do 5th... Late Feb is earliest I'd estimate.

If they don't announce it by tomorrow evening, I'd say the 5th date is dead.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
here is another one, again, speaking of fps, resolution, bla bla technical crap. Image quality, this and only this matters .this gives you the next gen leap. I can run PS2 ICO easily at 8k 200fps on my emulator, but still is a 3 gen behind game

Next Gen Visual asset

Hellblade 2 REPRESENTS the leap I expect the next gen to look like. Clear? Halo Infinite and Godfall, NO!!! That's current gen with bumped resolution and cool effects
I think people forget what Death Stranding looks like and in real time.

For my eye, the reason the Hellblade looked so good wasn’t just model density or asset resolution, but more so the animation. It was leagues ahead of games I’ve seen on this gen.

Don’t get me wrong though, ND is god tier with this stuff.

edit: god damn ios13 is shit for typing...

Sony are currently booking flights for people from PlayStation UK and Sony UK to go to California at the end of March, I would expect the announcement around then.
March is a good time IMO. As long as it's very early March cos GDC is mid-month.

1400 MT/s

"While the PS5019-E19 is formally positioned below the top-of-the-range controllers, it supports all of the features the E16 does (including Phison’s latest implementation of LDPC-based ECC and so on). Phison is also testing it with the latest 3D NAND flash memory devices featuring a 1200 MT/s interface, so if the company qualifies it for such chips, the actual SSDs powered by the E19 will offer performance that will be significantly higher when compared to today’s high-end SSDs at a lower price."

Anandtech expected 1200 MT/ sec but got 1400 Mt/sec and were impressed

Can you say where you heard this?

Without it going in to a “My uncle works at Nintendo“ type of story. I know someone who works Marketing/PR for Sony and PlayStation, they never get to go on business trips as they are one of the “underlings“ so the fact they are shipping people in means it’s - in their words - a big deal.

You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to connect the dots.

I can buy an end of March full reveal with a PS5 focused State of Play coming soon.

If they would want to go that route :)

Who knows? I only know what I'm being told. Managing 3 platforms while costs of production (reaching movie status) goes up is eating away at the developers' sales margins. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no console after this generation (IMO of course).
I doubt we'll be there the generation after next. Stadia is in a coma already and I can't see other game streaming services really making a dent compared to PS5 and XSX.

All of the talk will be about consoles once again this generation. People love the simplicity of plug and play and game streaming isn't ready for primetime

The White Owl acquisition rumors seem more in line with MS's typical MO, buy something small and infuse cash to grow it while poaching talent from the region. A lot cheaper than paying a premium for existing AAA studios and potentially just as productive. The added bonus would be some new IPs, we've got enough sequels of old IPs already.

Yeah, that's what Rand thinks too and he is pretty knowledgeable about Xbox.

i believe ms has locked down 12-16 games for release exclusively on MS platforms, some major some minor, mostly because of osiris, and MS spending lavishly on xbox Over the last two years. Plus they have studios like playground and343 that have said they have launch games coming.

Wrt sony, i can see them not having any major exclusives aside from uhd ps4 games. why? Sony is cheap as fuck and aside from VR and 2 sports titles, they only make games that take 5+ years. Plus they havent said anything about releases beyond Ghost.

But I could totally be wrong, and I hope I am.
I can't see MS releasing 12-16 launch titles unless most of them are smaller AA games. Hellblade 2 is early in development, Playground might be ready with Fable, The Initiative seems to in early development, Obsidian just released The Outer Worlds.

They could have a few 3rd party launch exclusives though

Man...
... I keep coming to this forum hoping today will be the day I'll read a new thread title: "PlayStation Meeting officially confirmed: February 14." and it never comes.
But when the day comes there will be people falling from and running to get into the HYPE TRAIN that won't stop until this site is melted.
I really hope it doesn't happen on Valentine's Day. I'll never hear the end of it.

The more I think about the IP and the Konami / Capcom mention @OsirisBlack did out of the blue, the more I think about Castlevania.

Didn't Osiris a few weeks ago post a YouTube video of an OST of Castlevania IV?

Yeah, it's Castlevania.

Holy fucking lurking screaming screeching sheepshit … it's Castlevania.

Fuck me. MS … if you've bought exclusive rights to the Castlevania IP … I'll never stick to 'just my PlayStation' ever again.

Ever.

Sony AND Microsoft for life.

I have a question, who mentioned IP acquisition from Capcom or Konami? Microsoft is buying?

Wasn't there a years old rumor about Microsoft consdering to buy Silent Hill? And wasn't there a rumor about Undead Labs working on a Dead Rising?

Maybe worded it wrong but I could see a SoP coming very soon that shows the box and some demos then have a full reveal end of March

Considering how quiet they've been, I think they'd be mistaken to do this. They've built up all this anticipation for PS5 news, having a SoP would just waste it and be anticlimactic (even if they show the box). Nothing beats the spectacle of an event.

Releasing a SoP and then an event isn't nearly as "wow" worthy as a long period of silence then one massive info blowout.

Still haven't seen any signs of anything that will be using CFexpress type C I can only think that a card this big will be used as a swap-able SSD

Jaffe and a verified Q&A Tester in the other site said february also
Believe Jaffe later said he was guessing, no?

12-16 launch titles is way overkill, you aspect people to buy them all? lol

There's a part in death stranding towards the end with Die-Hardman that looked just as good IMO.

uncharted cutsceneslast gen werent realtime. they were literally rendered on a render farm of 8 PS3s. there are pics of that set up out there.

regardless, the guy is simply saying that you will see a gap that big when going to next gen. he isnt insulting ps exclusives. of course her character model wont look that good in game, but then again, thats to be expected since thats the case this gen. Drake didnt look that good in game in U4 despite it being realtime, same with ellie and kratos. gamers who visit these boards know that games dont look as good in gameplay than they do in cutscenes. but next gen cutscenes should look that good. if not better than the hellblade 2 scenes.

ninja theory is good but not that good. their output on the ps3 was very impressive, but was topped by naughty dog, koji pro and ssm. hellblade 1's character model is impressive but not as impressive as character models in several sony first party titles or even gears of war 4. as impressive as hellblade 2 looks, i dont expect it to be THE best thing we will see next gen. there will be better looking games which is what that poster was saying in the first place.
Thank you finally somebody is getting what I.m saying even if I,m talking about WHAT I EXPECT A NEXT GEN GAME MUST LOOK LIKE, I don't even care for the final result, hellblade 2 is an example, if any game achieve THAT result, we are talking about next gen leap, if not, quite disappoint will be. the question is for that to be true how much compute power do you need? how many tflops must the console do? because is this the reason why everybody matters about next gen machine tflops, to understand the probable leap in gaming visuals
