The rumors were true, Respawn unveiled their Titanfall Battle Royale game which is Free-to-play and best of all is available right now on all platforms.

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
Can you call in a Titan? Only thing I need to know.
Its not Titanfall. It only takes place in that universe.

It looks really dope though. Basically Overwatch meets Fortnite and Blackout.

And unlike Blackout, its a standalone game. Treyarch really ought to release Blackout standalone.

Trailer seems interesting. Looks like they're trying to go with the gameplay of Fortnite and the "personality" of Overwatch, with a heavier emphasis on classes than the typical BR title.

Watching the IGN stream...this game looks great to me. Lots of QoL fixes and additions that will make it my main as long as the balance is there. Solo and Duos will be added at some point I would think and it's free to play so it already has an advantage over some other games.

I will be anxious to gauge performance on console though...

I think the theme is an odd choice. Correct me if I'm wrong, Titanfall fans (I've only played about half of TF2's campaign) but isn't the setting a multi-planetary empire/conglomerate with multiple colonies and areas of interest? This could've done fine as a clash between competing mercenary "drop teams" or something similar.

I guess I don't comprehend the need to turn it into a "sci-fi blood sport" instead of... y'know... the perfectly-compatible Titanfall theme.

Titanfalll without the titans... they did it. While the game does look quality. I cannot help but feel disappointed by this. I am still willing to give this a shot because of the quality of the title. This is up there with Blackout.

Looks super fun, definitely checking it out.

No TF3 doesn’t surprise me re: EA. TF2 badly underperformed, regardless of why that was the case.

Sorry, but 60 players (less than BFV's fake br mode) and no solo, duos, or 4 man squads? This is not Battle Royal. This is just multiplayer without respawn (no pun intended)

I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt after the rumors, hoping that they would add a new twist to the genre but man this is some generic ass shit. It's a cross between Overwatch/Fortnite, thats it.

The interview with Eurogamer is also pretty eye opening it honestly sounds like a cry for help, "EA are making us do this" is basically all i got from that.

Also, lootboxes in 2019? Launching with them while countries are currently investigating the practice for being shady as fuck gambling. Not a great look.

There's no way that EA won't fuck this up with predatory monetization practices. Having a season pass, rotating item shop, purchasable characters, and loot boxes. There's no such thing as good loot boxes, but the other three things need to be handled very carefully. They can easily be done in a very destructive way to the health of the game, and EA has shown repeatedly that they are fine with that. Part of the reason Fortnite has lasted as long as it has is because somehow, Epic has managed to walk the thin monetization line effectively.

Thing is, Respawn are amazing at gameplay - so Titans or not this could be a blast. Downloading now on my super slow Xbox queue.

Titanfall is a classic example of why its a really risky idea to try and establish a new IP on a single-platform at the start of a gen.

If you back the winning horse, its all good. But if you don't... there's no way back.

It makes sense that Titanfall 3 isn't in development right now. The rest of the team is finishing Star Wars, and I think starting Titanfall 3 for next gen consoles after Star Wars makes a lot more sense than doing a 3rd game on current platforms.

I'm okay with that.

Why would they keep making mainline Titanfall games when they keep dying shortly after release? That formula obviously doesn't work. Instead they've released what appears to be a feature-complete, polished BR with monetization in place. This will make money in a way the past 2 Titanfails didn't.

Keeping positive, eh? I guess I was bound to come across my opposite at some point.

People so quick to trash and judge....what a great discussion. Maybe try it out first? Respawn is an excellent developer with a great support record. Give it a chance before you hot-take it into oblivion. They also said they are not currently, actively developing TF3...doesn't mean there will be no TF3....Chill the fuck out everyone.

Response from all who have played it is overwhelmingly positive so I am game.

Just tried a few matches. It's okay, even though I suck at it.

I wish there was large buildings that you could wallrun across, alongside jump boosters.
