This game was my friend’s favorite. His gamer tag has been Sev ever since.

It was like a perfect mixture of Star Wars and halo CE. (Minus the timed defend segments.)

I enjoy very few fps it's really not one of my favourite genre at all but I loved this game back in the days. Does it still hold up now?

I find games like Dark Forces I & 2 easier to play. I had this on Xbox and then on PC. Something didn't quite sink in. I enjoyed Doom 3, Half-Life 2, and Black on Xbox. I just didn't give this game time to get good. I have enjoyed the screenshots of this game. The atmosphere was interesting. I just couldn't stand the story progression. The boot camp scene was alright, but getting to know the squad felt rough around the edges. I didn't mind that type of squad in Halo Reach. I just want to jump into it without waiting to play the game. I was too impatient.

I find this alot with Republic Commando. While not always the case, it seems that many hardcore FPS fans usually think Republic Commando to be rather meh and non-FPS fans seem to enjoy Republic Commando.

I'm a big FPS fan and I'm not a big fan of Republic Commando. I don't like the level design, the team mechanics and AI is rather basic and feels clunky and clumsy and the characters have no soul. Needless to say, Tim Longo went on from Republic Commando to eventually become Creative Director for 343i and Halo 5 Guardians and he brought those same qualities to Halo 5 and made one of the worst campaigns in the Halo universe. -_-

I finally completed this game a couple of weeks ago on the Xbox-1, at the time of its original release I didn't pay much notice to it, as Halo was the king of console shooters in some respects during that period of time. Saying that the fact that they had a sequel planned, can only imagine "what if", it was an OK game though some of the battles were quite frustrating, especially the constant need for "bacta"...not a game I would re-play through...but this along with Star Wars 1313 we will never quite what their potential really was......

Seems like a game I missed out on, but there would be no going back to and enjoying these days. That's kind of a shame. The same is true for me when it comes to the BioWare Star Wars games, unfortunately.

I played through and beat it on Xbox while it was new. It's not fantastic gameplay wise but it fills a nice niche in the Star Wars game universe that nothing else has touched, and the mix of those aspects and the squad makes it a nice little nostalgia punch for me. I wish it had continued.

That and the lore around it spawned my second favorite series of Star Wars novels of all time, behind Rogue Squadron. The Republic/Imperial Commando novels are cash scifi Spec Ops/military focused novels. Even if they were retconned out of existence first by the Clone Wars show, then by the Disney buyout.
