Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

I've realized that I've died several times because I didn't commit to my jumps. If you're gonna do it, you gotta commit, if you hesitate midair it's simply not gonna work out.

If anything, it's a charming Easter Egg toward the original release. Though a new Spyro game by Vicarious Visions and/or Insomniac isn't fully off the cards. Just gotta see what happens :).

Fucking Megaaaaton if true....

!?!?!?!?!?!?

Potentially. It would be neat if a Spyro demo were patched in, but I don't see it happening unless remakes are greenlit. Vicarious could then quietly include it in a general update, although the size would probably be large enough to arouse suspicion.

Guess we'll all be waiting to see how it sells. Hopefully it sells amazingly, because things are looking very, very good right now.

Well that happened.

21 gems in Crash one, wandered into the Great Hall, the one you need all 26 gems to traverse, and thought I;d see how far it lets me go. Couple minutes later, theres the bonus ending. Anyone else bypassed the need for all 26?

LOL the amount of Native Fortress mentions in this thread literally has me smiling ear to ear. I JUST wasted about 20 lives trying to beat that fucking level. Glad to see I wasn't the only one suffering through that hellscape

I won't actually be surprised if Spyro Trilogy remake/remaster is already greenlit. Can't think of a name along the lines of N. Sane Trilogy that fits with Spyro.

But next year is the 20th anniversary so I could see it being announced as a part of the anniversary stuff. Early to mid 2019 release.

Had a pretty tough time with Ruination in Crash 2.

In the bee levels, belly flopping the piranha plants isn't even worth it. The hitbox is too small, it's way too easy to slam right into the spikes.

Well it took me forever but I finally beat Slippery Climb

Watch and laugh as I do the bonus stage three or four times only to discover there are boxes missing and it's impossible. Woe is me.

Edit: Ok, apparently it was more like ten times

Edit 2: Wow I suck at this game, it was way more than ten

Edit 3: I JUST NOTICED THAT YOU CAN MAKE THE BOXES APPEAR WTF. I thought it was one of those "need to clear other stages" things. I even did it once apparently?

  • You can already restart a level when you go for Timed Trials, enable that option while you're on a regular run too so that you don't have to exit and reenter for Colored Gems.

This. It boggles my mind how this isn't an option. Sitting through the loading screens is punishment and makes me feel like shit.

Doing Crash 1 Relic run now and am taking a break to rant.

Sunset Vista is the WORST level in Crash 1. Waaaaaaay too long even when speed run. The platinum relic time is just under 3 minutes FFS!

It also has lots of timed mechanisms, those slow trails of bats and the worst enemies in the game: the Lizards that turn you into Lester the Unlikely for a second and make you run off ledges.

I don't know what this "scare" mechanic is but when its so vague that it can even happen posthumously then its a mechanic that needs to be scrapped.

...Right. Back to it then.

The lizards are only supposed to be killed by jumping on them. One other enemy like that used to be the green slimes in The Lab level but in remaster they can be killed with spin.

After giving it a second thought, I wouldn't say both Native Fortress and Slippery Road should be classified as cheap or extremely difficult levels, they're challenging and require a good skill level to get through them, but they're enjoyable

However, High Road (and Road to Nowhere in certain sections) is just cheap as fuck and should die in fire, there's nothing fun about it

Will be buying this later today

I like the Crash games, but I mainly want to buy it to give them a reason to remake CTR as well.

I still pull out the ps1 every month or so just to play CTR and complete it for the millionth time.

Hahaha the exact same thing happened to me at the end of a platinum run.

I'm progressing well on Crash 2. I have 21 Crystals and 32 Gems (including all 5 coloured ones). Warp Rooms 1-3 are fully completed now though.
Cold Hard Crash is still the bane of my existence. That was my last gem on my first playthrough back on the PS1.

So just beat "Native Fortress" in Crash 1 and man, that was the hardest level yet. 3 or 4 game overs over the course of my attempts. So happy to have beat it :D

I've not played Crash 1 on this yet, and I've not played the original in years, but is Native Fortress the one with the platforms you need to spin, the slopes with moss on them, and those things that shoot fire upwards? If it is, that level can go to hell.

So hog wild really ramps up the difficulty in crash 1! First few levels were a breeze but it took me about 10 tries to beat that one haha. Loving this game so much, can't believe I never played them as a kid.

Done. Sunset Vista - Gold Relic, 3:52:66

4 MINUTES 10 SECONDS FOR GOLD

The lizards are only supposed to be killed by jumping on them. One other enemy like that used to be the green slimes in The Lab level but in remaster they can be killed with spin.

If that was their intention then why does Crash visibly just walk away from it instead of being hurt?
And the walking lizards don't seem to cause this. =/

I didn't even attempt to hit the slimes after encountering them during the boss fight.

The one with spike pillars, guy who needs to be jumped on and then spun from the side, moss sliding floors and near the end, 3 fire things to jump on.

On a side note: The time trials just seem tough, can't even do the first one, 34 seconds, best I get usually is 40.

SO no platinum for me, I'll be happy enough to just complete (not 100%) all 3 games once/

Yeah, the time trials are much more difficult than I'd anticipated.

For N.Sanity Beach in particular, there's a pretty strict path that you need to follow to get the gold/platinum relic.

what the hell the push back these lizards gives feels very unnatural. was this the same in the original crash one?

In general I think these games can be pretty unclear on enemy weakpoints/hitboxes/defeat methods as well as a few hazards.
The porcupines for instance in Crash 2 didn't seem like the sort of things that would hurt to attack from the front with a spin or slide but nope, gotta make sure they ain't looking full stop.

At 104% on Crash 3, just gotta do some achievements and I'll be done. I think they changed
How to get the final gem since Coco isn't at the computer anymore, I assume I'll get it once I get the Platinum trophy for the game

The porcupines are dumb. When you first see them, you HAVE to avoid them, but on the path on that same level that leads to the red gem, there are 3 in a row that you can just walk up to and spin.

How do people have trouble with Ripper Roo? He jumps around in an obvious pattern and there's safe spots you can hide in. Timing the blocks to hurt him was kind of annoying but I don't see how you could die to him repeatedly.

First boss killed me as they fell down after being defeated lol

Happened to me as well haha >_<

Anyway just defeated Ripper and well... it feels like the game punishes you for using analogue sticks, It feels so imprecise and I have drowned a lot in the Ripper boss fight because of it. Once I switched to Dpad, I didn't drown, I just died from him jumping to me as I'm trying to jump away :(

Still beat him so yay.

For me, many many of my deaths was because I was using the analogue sticks to jump causing me to drown. I probably died to him himself a total of 3 or 4 times, the rest were to drowning.

Drowning due to mistiming/misdirecting the jumps to the other platforms - Ripper's not actually all that threatening of a boss once you know the pattern.

most of my deaths were due to the falling into the water. finally learned to use my dpad or precise jumping. this ought to be fun. this games super precise jumping with tiny platforms on a broken bridge.

Whew, just got past High Road, I died so many times. What helped me was if you press X+Right/Left at the same time, you will instantly jump on the ropes.

I was trying to press X THEN left or right and it either took a minute or would go off the side.

You can also jump over the ends of the bridges if you are lined up properly.

I was finding Crash 1 too hard so I moved over to Crash 2. And I'm still ass. So I've got no idea how I used to do this as a kid... tricky stuff. Have had three game overs already. Game is owning me in the most ridiculous ways.

Bought the game a few hours ago and started with Crash 1.
Man, it's awesome :) Gives me a big smile.
Visuals are beautiful. Way better on the own screen, compared to watching some YouTube videos of the game.

Please let us skip the intro it sucks having to wait for it to end only to go into a loading screen.

Also half the time the dpad feels like there is a 10th of a second lag for me.
