Phil didn't mean they wanted to explain their games' stories as in actually explaining what happened in act1, act2 and act3. What he meant was that they usually show their games with a quick trailer or a gameplay segment at best, which is not enough for some titles and they should totally work on that.
I've said this before, but ReCore is the best example of what they do WRONG with their games. Not showing what the game was about and how the combat is actually pretty fun and fast paced. https://youtu.be/531U9jqEm7c?t=1370 this too.

This approach turned out pretty succesful last E3 with Zelda and Nintendo and I fully expect them to show the systems in State of decay and Crackdown in full detail.
Pretty much. Sony showed a 9 minute clip of God of war. That's not something MS would do. But Crackdown needs that

So, I think this is new, at least I didn't know, but Studio Gobo seems to be working with Microsoft Studios for quite a long time...

Saw this on a Linkedin profile:

2015 - Gobo developed the Rise Against The Empire playset for Disney Infinity 3.0. We also completed our two year participation in a Future Internet Content initiative for the European Union.

2014 - Gobo developed the Guardians of the Galaxy playset for Disney Infinity 2.0

2013 - Gobo are supporting Avalanche Software on Disney Infinity - a major new toys-and-video-games platform from Disney Interactive launching in August 2013. We are responsible for the Pirates of the Caribbean playset which is one of the three launch playsets for the platform - a major, headline, front-of-box feature.

2012 - Gobo augmented Codemasters development capacity and successfully released F1 2012 on PC, PS3 and Xbox360 (84% metacritic). We were responsible for headline, front-of-box features.

2012 - Gobo worked with Microsoft Studios, Soho Productions on an unannounced new production.

2011 - Gobo had the pleasure to work with Ruffian Games in Dundee, Scotland on unannounced productions for Microsoft Studios.

I was having a late lunch with my Wife and we were talking about E3 and the MS conference and out of the blue she said "They almost have to open with Scorpio". I replied to her "Why?", she then replied "I assume if they are going to show games that most likely those games will be on Scorpio and I am sure they will want to let people know that and I doubt they will be showing all these games and they have a tag line that reads actual footage on Scorpio". I kind of was shocked since she is not much of a gamer, but it made sense. Open with Scorpio, give everyone the new name and then as the rest of conference moves along all games that are on [insert your name of choice for the system] will have the tagline that it is actual footage running on.....

They ended last years show with Scorpio, why not start this one with Scorpio?

Or a cool way to announce the name. Open the show with an awesome looking game that ends with the tagline "all footage from xbox (insert scorpio name here)", then show off the hardware.

Did anyone think they wouldn't start with Scorpio?

Mentioned this somewhat in the E3 thread, but a new Banjo could be imminent. Tweets from Gregg Mayles, lead designer of Sea of Thieves, the Banjo games, Battletoads, and a whole lot more....

"I sit at home seeking rhymes that gel, what could be happening only time will tell"

https://twitter.com/ghoulyboy/status/866750276786638850

"It's Sunday morning, early times,
I fancy writing a few more rhymes,
Their reveal gets a little nearer,
But their purpose not much clearer"

https://twitter.com/ghoulyboy/status/868685524013338624

I say Banjo as the antagonist of the games (Gruntilda) always rhymes when she speaks (sans Banjo-Tooie).

Maybe it's related to SoT in some way, but it certainly sounds more like a different project imo. I'm cautiously optimistic regardless, but thinking we'll get an awesome new SoT trailer plus release date and then a trailer for Banjo releasing in 2018.

Be still my beating heart......

Although I kinda doubt it. Gregg Mayles apparently remarked that it would be cool to make a Banjo Threeie recently on Twitter. Implying that there's no Banjo game currently being worked on, although he could just be tricking us......
Sounds like it's too good to be true though :(

New Banjo would be amazing but I just don't want to get my hopes and dreams up. It's just too much.

Hell, give Fable to RARE!

If there is a Banjo, it wont be till 2018 which actually would be very smart. I think the new Mario is going to be very good and mark the return of "character" type of games and MS having a Mario type of game like Banjo would be pretty amazing. A Banjo game in 4k/30fps would be glorious.

That bolded part pretty much says it's not SoT

I think you're onto something

That's what I have been thinking.

I think showing a showcase game like crackdown would be a perfect way to introduce the new console, and would make for better messaging as they are putting games in the forefront rather than just talking about hardware which we already know a lot about.

Yep. Seems like a perfect way to kick off the show.

With the Banjo thing it could be Sea of Thieves related. Technically Banjo Kazooie and Sea of Thieves exist in the same world thanks to the existence of a certain pirate who pops up in both games.

Maybe we could be having some characters could be having a kameo?
badum tish

my prediction was scorpio starting the conference and they ending with a banjo kazooie teaser

hopefully I will be right :p

Banjo Kazoooe was released in 1998, maybe we could be seeing a anniversary release on the games 20th birthday in june next year?

They could be doing this due to the popular reactions to the Crash Trilogy and positive sales to Yooka Laylee.

So yeah. Banjo remastered from the ground up?

That would actually fill the their purpose not clear part quite well.

Waaaaay back in 2004/2005, they were working on a Banjo remake that was internally named "Banjo X". It was basically a remake of Banjo-Kazooie "with a twist". An example being a giant ticker queen boss would appear in Mumbo's Mountain that wasn't there in the original game. There's even some animations around on Twitter for Conga, a Ticker, and I think Tip-Tup that was shown by a former Rare employee who was working on it.

A new banjo would be GLORIOUS!!!!

But I would be extremely happy with a remake like Sony did with Ratchet & Clank PS4

Remake the first one to celebrate the 20 years of the first game, 40$, Unreal Engine, Banjo with all furs and kazooie with all feathers as possible

BOOM!

They will start with Scorpio and end with Xbox One 2
I know you're just joking but theres something I really like about the Xbox One 2 for the Scorpio. It highlights the iterative nature of the Scorpio while implying that it's new and that its still an Xbox One that can play all of it's old games rolled up into a simple name.

I think Phil's gonna announce that Microsoft has acquired IO Interactive. He's been investing in first party for a while now and that would just be icing on the cake

Yeah but Red Faction did the exact same thing like 10 years ago on a weaker console, this is just typical MS and their underpowered console wanting us to be online all the time for no benefits.

<crosses 'Red Faction comparison' off bingo card>
