Hype deflated.
There is nothing like a good teaser to spark hope (is this a good story? Are they toning it done to actually tell you something interesting and "real"?)
and then the actual info comes out and contains this:
You can also recruit animals like bears and cougars.

Ah yes, Farcry.

I've never played a Far Cry game but this really interests me. OP has me interested.

I really didnt like the Ghost Recon beta and kinda soured on Ubisoft games but maybe I'll pick this one up. I do love AC's open world.

I'm more excited about the map and play space more than anything. Will wait and see in the themes of the story but I love that "naturey" setting (for lack of a better word), reminds of playing "The Hunter" and just getting lost in wilderness

Should have gone full on crazy and given us some David Icke inspired madness

Lizard people, illuminati and interdimensional demons

Maybe should clarify I don't wish religious people *real world* death. I'm just ready for games to start taking on religion because I think it's pretty dumb and has ruined a lot of people in my family.

I wonder how it would fly if i said that i hoped that we would kill all kind of atheist people. It's a weird thing to say, bad thing happening to your family don't justify hatred or generalization. Are you saying that MLK or Gandhi were inherent evil persons for being religious leaders ?

Back on the topic, the game and setting look promising. I like the fact that they are showing a kind of christian ISIS i think there is a reference to ISIS in the trailer, when you multiple truck going in line in the city.

At least they are trying something new with the setting since the gameplay is likely to be the same old formula. My interest hinges on how good the villain is this time

Holy shit, a new Far Cry game is... a new Far Cry game? Unbelievable!

Ubisoft has really found a great way of making Far Cry's sociopathic reality into conversation starters. This looks exactly like the cathartic christian killing murder simulator America needs. Good job Ubi. You know how to get your audience reved up.

That just makes it better.

Anybody who didn't think that this wasn't going to be over the top was fooling themselves.

Was this guy a good villain or meh? haven't played FC4 but it intrigued me, just to see if i need to get ready for disappointment lol

Hopefully we'll have off-year "Farther Cry" games like Primal every other year too. Imagine a Far Cry game set in Ancient Rome or during Cortez's Conquest of Mexico.

Premise seems interesting this time but I got little hope for Ubi to find a way to make the story go somewhere to mitigate all the tower climbing and side activity checkboxing that I know will bore me to death pretty fast.

Way too many people seem disappointed that it's not a Trump supporters murder simulator.

It's a goofy over-the-top video game in which you usually kill hundreds/thousands of people, destroy a whole island (or two) or even a whole country, and skin honey badgers to make yourself a new wallet. You won't get serious political commentary in that, no matter how hard you try.

A very good villain. All his lines were very well written and the voice acting was great. People were disappointed that you wouldn't see him enough, but I thought having him appearing here and there made each of these appearances more memorable.

So, if I understand, what saddens you about this Far Cry Game is that it's like a Far Cry Game from the same company that made many games which fit the open world sandbox mission play style in general including those of similar style from the same company this game is made by.

I dunno, maybe I'm just very forgiving. I played the hell out of Mafia III which was extremely repetitive (with amazing gunplay) just for the story. Due to the story, I was so invested in the game that I didn't care how long and repetitive it was.

I'm in.

People want change in games, especially when said games have stayed the same over many iterations , like Far Cry.

Imagine if the new Zelda played exactly like Zelda 1.

I wonder if this will use HDR... HDR in Horizon was a game changer bigger than 4k IMO. I hope all triple A games support it.

He's a good villain, but besides a few dozen radio messages over the course of the game, he's only in it for pretty much the first half hour and the last half hour.

i love how angry people get at ubisoft games

Before the game comes out

Ubisoft being too political with their games

After the game comes out

Ubisoft games aren't political enough

Even though it's two different groups making these criticisms it's still funny to see.

Ubisoft know exactly the kind of games they want to make. Slight political undertones to get people talking but not enough to really make a statement. They aim for a middle ground which is honestly not a bad thing.

Didn't finish 3, loved Blood Dragon, skipped 4 and Primal but I think I may have to jump back in for this, it looks pretty cool. The pastor looks awesome. Not a big fan of the Ubi open world formula but this looks like it could have enough charm and fun to get me through it.

Sounds good, i might grab the game since it's just 12$ on PC, since this is releasing next year i ain't worried on FC fatigue anyway

Man the hype roller coaster of hype for this game was kind of entertaining albeit short, and it was pretty much hype based off of assumptions from a promo image.

Please don't waste the villain in this. Far Cry 3 and 4's had great personalities but they were squandered.

Don't do this again, Ubisoft.

The worst thing is both got angry because of what they thought the game was , not for what it is.

I don't get why they even announced it.

The frycry primal reveal and subsequent launch was PERFECT. I thought this trend of eaely game reveals was beginning end.

Looks good but because of the release date, I currently could care less.

Cautiously optimistic. Like the American setting after Primal and 4. Seems odd to announce this right before E3 while it doesn't come out to 2018 though. Guess they didn't want to get buried in E3 news that week.

How were they squandered? Other than Vaas dying a little too early I though the villains from both those games were very well portrayed. Especially Pagan Min who ended up being somewhat of a tragic figure by the end.

Was not huge on 3 and I thought 4 was okay, but I love the premise of this one. Small town America is a pretty awesome setting. Definitely hyped
