WaPo: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister

Denpending on what was revealed and what the Russians do with that information, I'm sure someone would be able to figure out a source or sources. Narrow it down to a few people at the least. So just because he didn't reveal the source doesn't mean that he 100% didn't compromise the safety of the source. Again, depends what the information is and what is done with it.

100% agree.

“Russia could identify our sources or techniques.” — a senior U.S. official
“I don’t think that it would be that hard [for Russian spy services] to figure this out.” — a former intelligence official who worked on Russia-related issues

Trump is so dumb he thinks the Russian govt. is our ally, and such a bragging fool that he will tell them this classified information just to show off. Or he just a traitor. Either way he is unfit to be president.

Trump Revealed Highly Classified Information To Russians During White House Visit

President Trump revealed classified information about ISIS to Russian officials during a meeting last week at the White House, the Washington Post reported Monday.

....

Two US officials who were briefed about Trump’s disclosures last week confirmed to BuzzFeed News the veracity of the Post report, with one official noting that “it’s far worse than what has already been reported.”

One of the officials said the Senate Intelligence Committee was also briefed on Trump’s disclosures.

Presidents can essentially declassify intel without repercussion. So this will go nowhere legally, as usual.

So can I now file a FOIA request and get access to said intel? If not, is it really 'declassified'?

In a normal world, this would definitely go somewhere because Congress has lots of latitude in what constitutes 'high crimes and misdemeanors'. In the Trump POTUS Bizarro World, Congress will just chalk it up to 'Trump being Trump' and do nothing as usual.

I guess the IC tapped the Oval Office? I don't think there was anyone else there with him and the Russians

The WaPo article said there were aides. There were also transcripts (from where we got the readout) and Trump taps his own offices (the article about reporters interviewing him several years ago and he asked if anyone wanted drinks, and drinks were brought in without him picking up a phone/intercom, for instance).

every single fucking day my tolerance for the existence of the GOP withers away. an actual measurable literal malignant tumor on humanity

Just because it's not technically illegal doesn't mean this isn't going to have further political implications, especially for the Russia investigation.

Trump isn't "untouchable." He gets more touchable with every stupid thing he does.

Since POTUS has a goldfish memory, I assume he was only recently briefed about this, meaning an operation was in motion when he decided to blow the source.

At minimum, he degraded the operation, at worst, he just put some courageous person at the mercy of ISIS or Russians trying to turn them.

I'm not going to try and prove that Trump won't be president in 2024 – he's just jumping to the worst possible conclusion and its annoying.

what's getting annoying is the people who keep claiming "oh shit this is the THING" every week. It's never been the thing. Republicans control congress. We have at least 2 years of this barring a miracle.

Trump is too dangerous to hold any public office, much less the presidency. Can I wake from this nightmare now? Thought I had insomnia...

You don't know that, and neither do I. Why not let the stories happen naturally before making wild assumptions.

At the very LEAST, this just puts more pressure on the GOP to do something or face great odds in the midterms.

How much worse? Are they conversing in fucking Russian?

Disturbing enough for McCain to shake his head at while he continues to vote along with his party.

Exactly. There's nothing honorable about a senator who trades a war story for his kind of lobotomized voting habits.
