WaPo: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister

Not just a puppet, not just a charlatan, Trump is a dangerous idiot who's easily played. Cares about making himself look good at the expense of taking the responsibilities of the office seriously. He'll continue to damage and embarrass the country and our allies in foolish ways, both intentional and unintentional, until he's out. Simple as that.

Again, not that this will be illegal or lead the GOP to finally turn their backs on him, but this is going to make all our intelligence partners think twice about sharing information with is. This is demonstrably harmful behavior.

And remember the SHIT they came out with Clinton was found to have sent three incorrectly marked as classified e-mails? Remember the shit they spouted when Clinton was shown to have e-mailed things that were later classified?

Again, I know they aren't going to do dick about this. But that doesn't mean it isn't another leak in the good ship GOP.
 
From the description of the event it sounds more like Trump bragging and showing off like a dumbass than anything specifically with Russia.

He does have broad authority to de-classify but the authority to impeach him is solely within Congress's discretion regardless of why.

Sure, but you have to de-classify it first. Just randomly saying it isn't de-classification. There's also the fact that you can't, for example, commit treason and then say the information is de-classified now to cover your ass.

Hard to say since Nixon was pardoned before the investigation was complete. Remember Nixon was not impeached. He resigned before that could happen.

I think technically, so there's probably no legal ramifications for this, but when your intelligence partners get you information and tell you not to fucking tell Russia and you go and tell Russia that should probably have some consequences. I mean the big consequences are going to be that our partners and allies ain't going to trust us with information. The other consequence should be us booting him the fuck out of that office because we kind of need trust of our intelligence partners and allies.
 
Hmm yeah he's going to fuck up a lot in this presidency. I wonder just how much the GOP is willing to go to defend him. Believe it or not, but Nixon was actually competent. Trump isn't. He's not cut out for this position and they probably thought he'd be a useful idiot, but he isn't even useful. Not really.

Edit: It is illegal to knowingly share classified info with those without the appropriate security clearance

It might in fact be illegal. It's very nebulous with regard to presidential authority and context. You'd have to actually charge him with something to test those boundaries. But hey, if anyone is going to help us define the limits of presidential power, it should be an orange reality show trust fund baby and serial sexual predator.

When people were worried about Russia installing spy equipment in the Oval Office, I was wondering why Russia would bother, just ask ol Comrade Trump. I guess it may be a good idea in case he forgets some details, but otherwise, they're in.
 
The main narrative of the Clinton email scandal is that her sloppiness could result in her releasing classified information as President. However, if the President could just decide to declassify anything he wants, does it even matter? If they truly are concerned with the release of classified information, they should be concerned about the willful and dangerous declassification of information, too.

Unfortunately, the GOP didn't go after Clinton for nonpartisan reasons.

As far as I know the President can also determine that a particular party has need to know without necessarily declassifying or altering the classification of the information. I've never really looked into it or even thought about it with regards to non-US citizens before, though.
