It felt more like a chore. Maybe it was me, but I could tell that the developers wanted the players to jump around the stages to gain advantages over the enemies but it just felt sloppy. I just ended up finding a corner and blasting fools.
TLoU's MP was sublime because of its gameplay, so I think you're dead on.
Absolutely agree, never really cared for Uncharted anyway though so my opinion may be moot. I much preferred rise of the tomb raider.
"Nobody is allowed to not like the things I like."No such thing as a mediocre Uncharted game, least not on the consoles.
Those who think the combat is boring must be playing it like the average cover shooter rather than styling all over the place with the options the playgrounds give you.
The game doesnt encourage this. Its mind numbing on normal and completely unfair on crushing. It was no fun even on hard.No such thing as a mediocre Uncharted game, least not on the consoles.

The gunplay was definitely a low point in the earlier games, too stationary shootouts, not enough punch in the weapons and too many enemies with no real challenge except being able of taking many shots, but I think Uncharted 4 corrected all those problems and with the added stealth bits it became fantastic, to me it honestly seems like trolling to say that it's bad.I mean, isn't this just Uncharted's shtick? It's never had anything above average gameplay (usually skirting somewhere below), but has always been a top notch piece of visual entertainment.
I thought that was Bloodborne? Or The Last of Us, if sticking to Naughty Dog.how dare you dislike the jesus of video games
it won 2016 Goty you know!
Rise of the Tomb Raider on the other hand was way more versatile, had better combat, and variation.
I finished this last year, and it was my first Uncharted game. I won't say that it's mediocre, far from it. It looks -really- good. The overall production value feels insane. The character acting, voice, the incredible set-pieces, everything was amazing.
Gameplay wise, though, it really didn't offer anything more substantial. I feel like the experience would be similar if I just watched somebody else streamed it. I didn't dislike it, but it didn't left any lasting impression. All I remember is the (very) impressive set pieces.
Are all Uncharted games like this? The series was so widely praised, so I reckon it must be doing something right gameplay-wise other than looking very impressive.
Seriously, before the arrival of DLC guns (not that it ruined the MP but it definetly gave a bit of an edge to opposing players), TLOU MP was and still is some of the best MP I have ever played. The PS4 version at 60fps made it one of the best.
TLoU might be one of the more underrated games in terms of gameplay. The weight of the weapons, movement of the characters, variety of the enemies, etc. were really well done.
I hold the unpopular opinion that the gameplay of TLoU far outclasses its story.
I just don't see what people like in this game.
We've had linear cinematic games like this before, and they've been done way better in the past. The flow and pacing of this game from top to bottom is just super dull. It's filled with hours of boring walking and climbing sequences. I'm not saying that the game needs to have more action, it's just the slower paced moments SHOULD be more interesting, but sadly their not. That's partly because the story here just isn't all that good. The story is better than the last three Uncharted games, but that's really not saying much. The story still isn't great, and it's nowhere near the intrigue of something like The Last of Us. This game did not need to be 15 hours to tell this very simple adventure tale.
I don't know, I personally find the high critical praise to pretty disappointing honestly. I think Naughty Dog has done much better in the past.
Nah. I get the issues with pacing and UC4 being a bit too slow moving for some. But you lose me when you question the combat. This series has had some of the most open, most flexible third person shooter mechanics since day one. The key is in mixing the traversal with the combat."Nobody is allowed to not like the things I like."

People who like Uncharted 4 just have really bad taste in games.
But they tried to make it too much like TLOU.
I'm not a big uncharted fan myself. Haven't got around to this one yet but I don't believe the hype.

I guess I have a really bad taste in games. Which also means Bloodborne, Doom, Overwatch, Inside, Witcher 3 and many others are also shitty games.
ya got me, so heres some of the attention you wanted.
Good luck getting past the first few chapters if you didn't like the other gamesI'm not a big uncharted fan myself. Haven't got around to this one yet but I don't believe the hype.
TLOU wasn't 18 hours long
The shooting and combat encounters are designed so much better in 4 than any of the others, but there's not enough of it. I still think it's better than Uncharted 1's idea of every three steps there's a new gang of trash mobs to kill, but sometimes I just needed to stop playing 4 and play something that actually required some more input. 2 >> 3 > 4 >>> 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> that charcoal rubbing simulator
