"Take It Off, You Terrorist!" - Woman Attacked For Wearing A Niqab (Video Inside)

Ok. Lets say I am the smartest girl alive and want to earn some cash.
I then tell these other girls that for a little amount I can make there grades go skyrocketing.
We all have niqabs and I can do all their work and no one will know.

I belief in religious expression but sometimes you need to identify yourself.

People who wear the niqab regularly do identify themselves as needed. In private, to a woman.

These Muslim threads are always funny, because it doesn't matter how much of a xenophobic asshole anyone in these news stories happens to be; there are always posters whose FIRST REACTION is to talk about why they also don't like what the attacked person was wearing.

Like the people in terror attack threads whos first reaction is "Pls dont be muslim"? I'd say the important part is that the condemnation happens. People also talking about something that is a hot topic currently in many countries is no surprise and to be expected.

So the smile was redundant?

She came prepared.

What a disgusting woman though.

For reference, this is a niqab:

Also the racist woman is pathetic.

"As we entered the car, my wife (who wears an Islamic veil — niqab) decides to smile politely and wave innocently at the lady assuming everything was good"

How does he know his wife smiled if she is wearing that?

"”She was demanding this man show her some form of ID, calling out that she didn't belong here, and that we shouldn't let her walk around freely because we didn't know what she could have hiding under her dress," Ms Guff stated."

That's true if you're wearing a skirt lol

And it's also true if you wear baggy pants or a hoodie, which, coincidentally, also has people being attacked for wearing due largely to racially discriminatory views

EDIT: Also, regardless of your views of the niqab, the truth is that niqabs are an excuse to attack, not the reason to attack. I mean, people see Sikh people wearing turbans and use that to justify attacking them as a "Muslim terrorist." It's just an excuse to abuse.

my point is don't normalize anonymity in public places. doesn't matter what kind of dress.

your point is "not typically" which isn't really worth much

You're infinitely more likely to suffer violence from someone wearing skinny jeans than someone wearing a niqab, get real.

You smile as much with your eyes as you do with your mouth #prosmiletactics #smilehack #gringankers

EDIT: also what that guy above me said but that's not as awesome so

She's racist but I can't help thinking that she thought she would have won brownie points with the ruling folks acting like this.

I'm against the niqab, and think it should not be permitted (we should be able to see people faces in public). But I would never go crazy on someone like that, she's clearly out of control.

You can't tell when someone you know very well is smiling from their eyes?

you're kinda missing the point there

I agree with them. I get your point. It isn't exactly nuanced or heady. It's just a shit point.

Anonymity wasn't a concern for muslim dress(?) before. Now that people's fee fees are all in a tingle suddenly we have these dumb arguments floating around for why we should harass/ oppress people? If there are local laws about covering your face fine. I get that. We have them here and it makes sense. Balaclavas/ costume masks/ etc are illegal in some counties and the bans extend to this kind of headgear. But in cases where it is already acceptable why change things for everyone now because of imaginary/ statistically insignificant problems? Instead I propose protection so people don't get harassed just because someone gets uppity over how someone else looks.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Now im not a violent person...but if that was me, I maybe would be heavily considering knocking her out for banging on my damn car like that.

What does it matter? His wife did nothing to deserve such abuse.

It's obvious that she didn't think that she really was a terrorist. The girl is like 90 lbs tops and she is trying to confront people she thinks could be armed and dangerous terrorists? Either she doesn't think she is actually a terrorist or she watches too much anime.

Personally I don't like the Niqab or anything that covers the person's face due to my deafness as I lip read people so I would struggle understanding a person wearing one.

However while I don't like them it I don't agree with them being harassed or being accused of being a terrorist as they have the right to wear them in peace just like I have the right to wear a hoodie top in peace.

One of the eyes is in a neutral pose where as the other is the person smiling.

It isn't hard to guess which is which, especially when waving to greet someone is added into the mix.

I wonder if she is from Myanmar? There is substantial racial hatred there towards Muslims at the moment.

What can be said? The woman is being beligerent, nasty and ignorant. Also, considering she is likely to also suffer racism in many areas, it would be nice if she had a little bit more self awareness.

What about hoodies? Sunglasses? Cyclers or people in winter who cover their mouth?

You're banned and this is late but I was never asked to provide photo ID when taking exams at university. All they asked for was my student number.

Potentially I could have paid another person to take my exam for me and as long as they had that number(which I would have given them to recite) they would have allowed them to take the exam regardless of what they were wearing.

Panicky fears about stealthy exam surrogates sneaking in under disguises of religious dress to take other people's exams for them are completely unwarranted when you can do it just as effectively in jeans and a t shirt.

This is of course me taking your supposed fears at face value and not the weird concern trolling they obviously are.

Australia doesn't have a ban so that women is being ridiculous. She might want to move to France or Belgium who have banned it. Not that you're safer from terrorists. You're much safer in Aus so far.

There has been female suicide bombers wearing niqab and burka unfortunately. It's said to be used increasingly as they're more likely to be undetected. This is not anime, its sadly real life.

How commonly were these headscarves worn by Muslim's in the West pre-1960s?

I can find answers for Iran etc. but not for America/AUS/etc. (tbh I don't know if AUS had a large Muslim identifying population back then).

She knew that woman was not a terrorist or she wouldn't be harassing her like that.

Also Youtube suggested this to me

Pure madness

This woman should be sectioned...That kind of mental illness has social reprocussions. So much loathing in here, she seriously must hate herself. Well, there is no much to like. I mean even if there was a god, she would be going straight to hell...But there isn't, and she is just projecting because she is damaged - mentally, physically, in everything. I both despise her and have compassion for her...

The anime part is her thinking she can take them on.
