Walking Dead S3: A New Frontier Ep 1/2 SPOILER THREAD

Clem could have said at any point, hey, let's light ourselves on fire and do a summon dance to bring Kenny back from the grave! and I would have had a really hard time saying no.

I would say no in a heartbeat because fuck Kenny.

I shot him after he killed Jane at the end of S2 and regret not having done it sooner.

I really liked Jane in S2, up until she tricked me into killing Kenny in order to make a point. Couldn't forgive her for that. Clem and AJ alone is my ending.

So far I like S3, but I do kinda wish I was playing Clem. I like Javi, but Clem is just such a badass. I wasn't expecting that ending at all.

I think I am going to replay it and make Javi less of a good guy. I keep forgetting that it's been like 5 years since the apocalypse started, so he shouldn't be acting so decently.

Lol just encountered a pretty silly continuity goof, in episode 2 after shooting Conrad and Clem leaves, when you find Kate in the car she and Javier hug, and in the background outside the car you can see Clem standing there with the rest of the group. Pretty funny.

Had the same thing happen. Was funny.

Really really liked the story and characters so far but what really pisses me off is how these kinds keep getting shorter and shorter. Ep1 took me maybe 80-85min and now Ep2 took me only 70min. What is this? TWD S1 I clocked in at around 11-12h and S2 at 9h. S3 is currently not even at 3h total in steam after 2/5 episodes.

Yeah, at the end of episode 2 I was surprised by my Steam time played.

Feels like they had one slightly longer than average episode and split it in two, then promoted that as a simultaneous release.

it would turn a bunch of players, myself included. I do everything for Clem (and for Lee). if you subvert that, I probably check out completely, not just this game but the series. maybe make it a little gray but don't make her the bad guy or anything like they did Kenny in s2.

What a stupid decision. So instead of releasing 4 proper episodes and charging less they split it up into 5 very short episodes to charge the normal prize.

More like rather than have the first episode feel deceptive and be twice as long as the other 3.

I want 5x2h episodes. I don't care if ones shorter and ones longer as long as it balances itself out at the end. Instead what we've gotten is an 80min episode and a 70min episode which must be a new long even for TT's standard. And since appearantly 2 1/2 h was too long the next 3 episodes wont be much longer / long enough to balance it out either.

I've played every TellTale game since TWD S1, I liked them all but they have taken an obvious toll, when I played through this one I couldn't care too much about the decisions because I know how little repercussion they have. Staying or leaving, fighting or surrendering, it isn't going to change the outcome.

It was nice being able to kill Conrad though.

Javi is alright, but I wanted to play as Clem.

It was obvious that the different outcomes of S2 were a problem, but I don't get why they used it as an excuse for not doing S3 if they were going to neutralize them so easily.

Went through episode 2 this morning, because it wouldn't let me download it the other day.

I don't know that crazy guy's name who kept pressing matters at Prescott and said to ram the gate, but I feel like he'll be the dude to kill Gabe.

Other than that: if Clementine dies, we riot. Even if it's like

[x] SHOOT CLEMENTINE [a] SHOOT SELF

On my playthrough, Celm parted from the gourp to Richmond after the Conrad Event. But in the last segment of episode 2 when Javi found Kate in the car, Clem was there in the group watching Javi and Kate!?!?(・ω・`;)?

Really enjoying this so far, more than Season 2's start.

It's pretty funny how loyal to Clem the player is, myself included, you have to wonder if Telltale would know that would happen. I mean, why wouldn't they? They gotta flip that on its head somehow.

Javier is cool, but his brother being the new frontier you could see from a mile away. Literally, you can see his character model right before the ending.

Bwahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one that came here to post the same creeper in the background spoiler towards the end of episode 2. It was so jarring for the moment.

I'm actually kinda surprised at the ratio on that last choice. Leaving your family to go kill some dudes with Clem seemed to echo back to the first 5 minutes of the episode and how horrible it was that you weren't there. That choice aside, I went with Clem on everything else.

Jane was pregnant with Luke's kid, right?

Alright, finished episode 2. Yeah I expected that for the Conrad choice. Disagreeing with Clementine is one thing, but no one's gonna press the "Actively betray Clementine for new character" button.

I guess his brother turning out to be the leader of a murder gang was to offset all of the "have affair" choices that they gave you.

I'm guessing Paul has the same plot armor as Glenn from Season 1.

Yeah that's gotta be a bug.

I was looking at the episode description and trophies for future episodes, and it seems the we are going to mostly be in this one community for the next three episodes. Which is good because I always thought that the whole Carver story was resolved to early in season 2. Carver should have been the main bad guy throughout the season.

Also it seems the plot will focus on revolution within The New Frontier.

Hell, yeah, I am. Family comes first for Javier. He barely knows Clem. It makes zero sense to put Clem before Gabriel.

Honestly I disliked that situation. It was the player versus Javier, not two choices that Javier would or wouldn't make

The player (Clementine) won.

That's not true though, Clem had a short but intense bond formed with Javier, moreso than Conrad, and Conrad was acting irrational towards him ever since he lost..whatever her name was. I wouldn't trust Conrad as far as I could throw him, I'd trust clem even just based on what she and Javi had said/been through. Like, Conrad is just as likely to go in there and open fire and get us all killed, for example. dude was clearly unhinged and just suppressing it.

I don't disagree that it's a choice that is going to be VERY lopsided due to the Clementine factor, but I think it's wrong to say that it should be lopsided the other way if it weren't Clem. Or even clearcut.

Conrad isn't the factor. Gabriel is. With Gabriel's life in danger, no way would Javier stick with Clem. Not after all he went through in the first episode to get back to his family and after losing Mariana

I sure would love to play this game if it weren't a bugged mess. Like seriously constant crashing and times when the game just freezes for minutes on end. Ridiculous how does telltale keep releasing games in this condition?

I'm not talking about that episode one thing. You aren't betraying Clementine for that one. You're given a free choice and Clementine could've come too if she wanted. Nah, what I'm talking about is stuff like actively handing over Clementine to her enemies as a bargaining chip because someone you just met told you to. I chose to go with the family because it was echoing the beginning of the game and it seemed like something Javi would do (and because it's not like Clementine was gonna die in that shootout or was begging me to stay there. She understood my choice and offered to provide cover), but had the choice been "shoot Clementine in leg so you can get away with your family" vs staying and fighting while your family gets away, I definitely would have stayed. That seems more like a decision for Kenny though...or Shane.

I think the biggest advantage that this has over Season 2 is that I like most of the group and don't want them to die. Except Gabe. I freakin' hate Gabe.
Conrad will survive if you side with him against Clementine.

So he's essentially dead in most playthroughs.

But that's the thing though - Gabe DOES come first for Javi. And Conrad had a gun to one of his family members. A family member he dragged into the situation for no reason other than to intimidate Javi.

I can see Javi shooting him because fuck that. He's lost one kid already, and now this unhinged freak is holding the other kid hostage over an issue with Clementine? Bang bang.

He had it coming anyways. He's the kind of character that in some tense situation where everybody needs to be quiet completely looses it and causes someone else to die before committing suicide.

Clementine is a goddess and if you don't side with her in any situation you should die in-game. :3

I really hope you end up killing David. Javi is an okay character, but his brother and nephew are so insufferable!

Anyway, I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed these first two episodes. Especially after playing Batman. I felt that series was painfully weak. The only reason I finished it was because I bought the season pass.

Finally played and finish both episodes tonight and all I have to say is.

TELLTALE YOU NEED TO STOP! Being so goddamn good lol

I fucking loved it, was really surprised the main character wasn't Clem, but at the same time I like Javier and I like what they're doing with sweet pea too. Hopefully she gets some more air time.

I hate the boy, he's such a Delsan wannabe.

Rip to little miss candy bar :(

And as much as I really like Kate..

Zendaya, I mean Elanor is better ;)

People say Clem's demeanor changes depending on how you set up your playthrough (either through S1+S2 or the beginning's setup), what does that entail exactly?

I was surprised at the amount of people who stayed to help Clem fight the NF guys instead of escaping with his family, one of which was gut shot and needed help ASAP.

Dude doesn't know Clem.

Then again the players do.

Like I the TT Batman game.
Most people chose to help Catwoman instead of Harvey despite Harvey being an innocent and long time best bud over a woman and criminal Bats met yesterday, because it's Catwoman!

For me I had two reason for staying. Yes because of Clem (personal connection as the player) and because I felt like Javi emotionally would want to strike back in that moment, even if he doesn't seem like the type, in that very moment after seeing what he saw... he's fucking pissed

This is the first time I'm playing the series one episode at a time, fuck I want to play more right now.
