Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite Gameplay Trailer

I'm glad they follow MVC3 art style. I was worried they would use SFV's models (cpt Marvel looks beautiful!).
I'm sure graphics will change over the course of development, and they will be improved.
We'll see how the gameplay ends, I remenber everybody hating the new air-tags and x-factor in MVC3...

I'm with you, but we'really gonna get slammed in here for thinking that.

It's all opinions, breh.

But this game is already more appealing to me looking at it casually.

I'm also an old school MSH fan, so I'm more excited as well. MSH was the last Capcom Marvel game I adored.

I had fun with XvSF, MSHvSF, MvC1, but they were never special to me. And the next three games never connected with me.

2v2. No X-Men. Don't know how I feel about it. Everything is kinda meh at this point. One thing is for sure, I was much more excited at the MvC3 reveal.
X-Men are fair game
Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Bill Rosemann didn’t tense up the way PR folks tend to when you ask them a difficult question. While Marvel wants to take a forward-thinking stance with the characters they include in the game, he wants to make sure fans of all of Marvel properties, including X-Men, are happy. “That heritage is not lost,” he told me

God those gifs are so beautiful.

My hype for this game keeps rising. Can't wait to see the little bit of new footage + 2 new characters tonight.

Animation-wise and in terms of game feel it looks to be exactly what I hoped for and stylistically it looks awesome - even if the graphics could stand to be improved some. The main reason I gravitated towards Marvel is because of how it feels to play as opposed to the way the game works, and in that regard Infinite looks to definitely live up on that front.

Now as for the mechanics themselves they're incorporated, color me cautiously excited.

Yeah, I do wish they still kind of went with 3v3 - it's a formula that I don't feel like Capcom have perfected yet and it's hard to deny the excitement of the visual splendor and pizzazz when something like two assist extensions crop up in a combo, followed by a THC. At the same time I can kind of understand this change in a way since Marvel has often struggled underneath it's own weight. It's a game that is known for and prides more on it's presentation rather than the mechanics.

Even if Infinite is a game that is billed more towards "casuals and newcomers" I feel that, at a cursory glance, the fundamental changes are a huge risk that surprisingly offer the potential for not necessarily a more mechanically complex game, but perhaps a mechanically deeper one. With team synergy now being less of a concept since assists are gone it feels like there's going to be more of a focus on learning individual characters; maybe less one hit = death situations alongside, and the tag system might actually legitimize a lot of characters who would be considered useless in a system like Marvel 3. The new Infinity Stone mechanic can make or break that concept; but it sure as hell isn't X-Factor from what's being described and that alone easily puts it closer to Tatsunoko for me than Marvel; something I consider a much better game mechanically.

I'm cautiously optimistic for what the game has to offer. It's making some big changes but after kind of feeling iffy about Marvel 3's lastability I welcome this game and it's ability to do something new. And if Marvel 3 could survive with something as volatile as X-Factor then I'm pretty sure this too will do just fine.

Assists almost always ended up being a key point in picking one of the 3 characters, so I'm glad that's gone. Hopefully makes people more viable

Actully, according to Arcsys they changed just one thing from standard UE3 and that was adding non-uniform bone scaling (ie squash'n'stretch animation).

Yeah it's not so much the engine Arcsys used that mattered but the work they put into the visuals.

Guys......I WANT to be hype for this game.

But I'm getting 3 or 4 red flags / sirens going off that something is definitely off here.

The CGI trailer left me cold, but that gameplay looks hot. I enjoy how clean the game looks.

As someone who really liked SFxT, I think it's great that they're taking inspiration from that game for the new Marvel.

Good sprite based 2D fighters are financial suicide. No one should want that unless they want games that take 4 years to release and have barely 10 characters in their rosters.

That's exactly why most companies like Arc System Works & SNK have moved on from 2D sprites & onto 3D modeling, because 2D sprites aren't financially stable & are too time consuming to make.

More like Tatsunoko vs Capcom HD to me. And this is great.

I agree.

Hardly, instead of characters being able to cancel their weaknesses with good assist picks and team composition, you'll have chars being judged on how they perform in 1v1 neutral. Removing assists doesn't automatically make more chars viable, does the opposite.

the whole reason marvel got to where its at is because of the amazing amount of theory and strategy that can be discussed. theres infinite combinations.

this, so far, looks like bullshit.

Im just gonna say im glad assists are out, but the loud majority are gonna whine until it comes back. I actually wouldnt mine them in, but they needed to be limited somehow. Surprised they took them out.

Im also glad the game doesnt look like ass design wise in comparison to mvc3, but Im sure mvc3 lovers are gonna go nuts about that too.

They didnt do anything cool with X. They just treated him like a punching bag. Fuck you Marvel and Capcom.

Aight take him the fuck outta the game now :p

I'll take this over everyone having the same goddamn assist

This was always my biggest problem when I used Phoenix Wright.

Ya as a Wright guy I loved playing as him but he was never viable once they ate him

Luckily assists are a pretty big feature which means that if they don't already plan to implement them then chances are they'll stay out.

I'm also very glad it's 2v2 no assists

How many hours left till this from now? I'm not good at time zones.

Marvel Super Heroes had a gem system if I recall correctly. Like you could knock them off your opponent and use them.

The return to 2v2 is alright in my book. I just wish it had assists like in Marvel Vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. The kind where the character has limited uses, or maybe tie their use to a cool down. Just random esoteric characters. The number of assists in MvC:CoSH was legion.

I'm not a fan of the "serious" art direction and music. I get why they're doing it - to reflect the style of all the MCU movies - but come on, this is a completely over-the-top video game where a bunch of weirdoes throw energy beams, infinite combos and Lego knock-offs at each other.

It should be bombastic and colorful, not gritty with a sense of impending doom.

Marvel's longstanding popularity as a franchise is definitely not on account of theorycraft. It has quantity, sure, but there's a reason a lot of people joke that "this is the year Marvel finally dies" when it's essentially the fighting game equivalent of a fireworks display.

MAKE IT CASUAL

...game doesnt sell any better

ITS NOT CASUAL ENOUGH, REMOVE ALL DEPTH AND ADD "HOLD "O" TO ATTACK"

..genius!!!!

it doesnt look serious, the models seem to just be missing lighting

I can see these choices paying off financially. I have bad feelings about tourney play though. Should be more interesting than SFxT tho, since the movesets are fundamentally less mundane.

Sounds about right. Zero usually had to save his dumb ass from various circumstances, & X only got powerful through the Dr. Light capsule upgrades.

Being a punching bag in a fighting game fits his modus operandi from the MMX series.
