The game doesn't go linear after Chapter 5.

Altissia and Cleigne are yet to be explored after Chapter 5. Altissia at the very least is huge.

It's been one hell of a wait and I've gone through many communities with people who look at it negatively due to the bad marketing.

Proof sent. This part in particular is what's off: "Instead, I prefer the game from chapter five onwards. It's not the half way point of the game, but at that stage, I was invested in the title and its characters. The first three to five chapters did a great job of drawing me in, and immersing me in the world, but it was after that I really appreciated the journey. " There is no real distinction of "chapter five onwards", though. Chapters 0-8 are one chunk of the game. So for him to make that distinction means he hasn't played it, and is just assuming based on the preview build.
