Btw, haven't followed this thread, but saw your "it's official now" post few pages back and gotta say: congratulationssssss, Faruko-san! So cool. Wishing you all the best and hope you keep on working on mainline FFs :)

I really enjoyed it. Was not that bothered about it a month ago to be honest and I'm a fan of the series. Definitely picking this up at launch :)

Tried out the demo today on my OG PS4.

Tutorial was kind of weird as I didn't really know what I was supposed to do. Still don't know when you parry instead of blocking. Did the stuff that showed up on the screen and it worked.
I have to figure out the gameplay in general. Not sure when to defend instead of attacking because you kind of have to commit to one of them, especially if you wield bigger weapons.
Warping is great. It was so fun I forgot to watch my MP and ran out pretty fast.

Performance seems a lot better than Platinum Demo. A few hiccups here and there but not too bad in general.
Graphics are great. Character models are very detailed, environments look really good for an open world game. The pop-ins bothered me a little, but they're tolerable. What bothered me most was the hair when you saw a character's face close-up. It still looks like someone poured sand on them and it seems off and I can't stop looking at it. It's weird because everything else looks rather clean. Is this problem solved in the Pro version?
I'm sure the Pro version looks great. I know this is weird, but this actually bothers me a bit. Final Fantasy is a game where I always want the best version possible. Since they haven't been on PC up until now I got to experience the best possible on PS1/2/3. This time, whenever I look at the game I think to myself that there's a version that looks not only better but also a lot cleaner... I don't want to get a Pro though...

But VII and VIII were better on PC already.

Finally managed to defeat that level 38 monster near Hammerhead. I was only level 7 lol so I spent all of my potions in order to take it down. Worth it.

I went from liking the combat to loving it now. There's massive potential for some great boss battles down the road.

It's soooo good! Hhhhhhng!

Took a fair number of screenshots, will have to bring them over to my PC at some point. Image quality is insanely good (on Pro, don't know about base) which is really surprising since the game has typically been shown off having really bad IQ. Very surprised, and very thankfull.

Bring on the 29th! :D

Still playing around with it. Doing some of the hunts (and spent like thirty minutes looking for one of them until I realized I had to wait until night. Any way to speed that process along, ala Xenoblade?). Combat is definitely growing on me, even if the camera remains problematic.

Sometimes the music sounds like Shimomura listened a bit too much to the Skyrim soundtrack before writing. There's an exploration theme that sounds a lot like you're also wandering around in an Elder Scrolls game. It's still pretty and well-written but it takes me out of the game a bit.

(I'm probably too much of a musician. Can't turn my ears off.)

Is there a way to toggle lock on to target or are you supposed to keep the button pressed all the time to have a target locked?!

I still miss the old lighting tbh

It had so much more depth. They've obviously made huge strides in pretty much everything else since then but the new assets and foliage etc with the old lighting would truly be something to behold.

Is there hidden weapons or not ??

Played about 6 hours worth. Beat all hunts, explored the entire map, found enemies I never expected (theres flying enemies here! Its in one little section around a bunch of chasms and you have to fight them along with sabertusks, its crazy!) (I also fought those long neck antelope things in a pack, and there was only 1 male who was level 23 i think, all the females were level 9 or so.), Beat the bandersnatch (it was mostly just me and prompto since the others died quite quick :P), Beat an iron giant + some goblins (and fucking booked it after I beat them), and went through what I can only call a minor-minor dungeon. Its this tunnel you can go through but It has goblins.) The glitches don't really bug me (heh). Had a blast, but I think I'll stop (or at least limit myself) for the final release. I can't wait to sink my teeth into dungeons and side-quests!

Thats the map button now :P
You can only hold to lock on.

What happened with Duscae special attacks for each weapon? tehy removed them from the game?

They're either part of your normal attacks, or they are incorporated into link strikes. Jump and Drain blade idk about, but tempest happens as such: after a combo you have a frame window where noct has his greatsword on his right shoulder, press attack and he will do tempest. Lance drive (idk the name in duscae) is done when you use a analogue-back attack, flipping you backwards and then you just hold the attack button. If you do another analogue back in that sequence, you will do a different attack all together.

I recommend mixing things up with your analogue inputs and timing of your attack button. Theres quite a few hidden attacks in here.

Nah they're still there.

Yeah I did notice doing tempest and that lance piercing move out of nowhere

That sucks to be honest I kinda liked how they functioned in Duscae :(

Other than that the combat did click with me after few hours and I like it now.

Yea, I love the combat. It feels like a spin-off DMC game in a way (but doesn't really play like one of course). Too bad this demo was in Japanese because I struggled with the controls for a bit early on.

Stop your car by the fuel dispenser and interact with it. 10 gil only ;)

Interestingly if you do it in Hammerhead, Cindy fuels the car and cleans the windshield. Was surprised honestly, and also surprised at how non-sexual it all went down too. (at least, I didn't find it at all perverted or sexual :S)

Btw: also love how you can have the car towed to you for cheap too :3 Cindy is just the best.

Will start it in a few minutes. Playing on the Pro.
Do i have to choose the pro mode in this demo, or is it default, when playing on the pro?

Below HDR in the settings menu, the top option in the sub-menu will give you the cap-30 better spec version.

Unlocked framerate is selected by default. If you want the high quality setting you have to choose that in the Options menu.
There have been screenshots of where to find the option. Forgot where they were.

Toggle left stick up twice with attack will perform tempest and piercing attack not 100% sure but hold circle until he perform 3 hit combo and toggle left stick back while holding cirlce

Lol I was thinking the same. When she started to clean the windshield, I was expecting the worst camera angle xD

As I said earlier, thats not right.
You have a frame window after any attack where Noct has his greatsword on his right shoulder. Press attack in that frame window, you'll do tempest.

100% of the time. I tested it out

IKR! It was way way tamer than I expected when I saw it. It pretty much cemented to me that the only issue with Cindy is her outfit. Otherwise everything else is pretty much okay.

So what's the best way to run around and really practice the combat? I'm only level 8 and all I do is run into level 2 doggos that get two shot by anything. I've yet to have a fair fight with the Iron Giants since they get pretty some backup on every occasion.
