That was him. He had so much hype and praise from everyone after that run. He squandered all of that. Captain America fucked him up.

To what end has he squandered it? His books are still getting praise only now he gets a large dose of bullshit and racist tirades thrown his way in equal measure.

Apart from the fact that Cap is a fucking amazing book...

I think you should look at what minorities, mainly WOC, think of his attitude that's turning them off to his stuff. He's currently getting ripped apart for his comment he made yesterday about "Wednesday Warriors".

I read that whole chain and rolled my eyes. Wednesday Warriors and all that crap is just ugh. I love comics and superheroes but the industry especially surrounding the big two do themselves no favours when it comes to making it seems like a safe, inclusive place to work for those who aren't white males.

I read the twitter chain ElNarez posted here and it was a sobering perspective to read. Everything is vote with your wallet! which seems to side step the issue of harassment in my eyes.

cap:Sam Wilson is such a great book.

Nick spencer made me a true fan of misty knight and Sam Wilson. Ready for the next issue so our favorite sidekick can get some spotlight

Looking at my feed, still some assholes with Trump avatars defending themselves by being dicks and one guy who I know saying comics are dying so why bother?

Tell me there's a glimmer of hope.

This seems kind of... tone deaf? I don't like how this is worded at all even if the ultimate message is "you should buy it". There is nothing wrong with fans and creators who want to show their support and will send a more important message than a couple hundred extra sales to a comic you already cancelled.

Just rubs me the wrong way.

Tom tends to get a bit angry when he gets bombed with stuff at social media. I think thats why these tweets sounds a bit off

Kate Leth raised a good point about this, does any of the money go to Cain/Jones?

Mmm probably not.

I'd say that's rooted in the shitty compensation structure for Marvel ephemera across the board. Jim Lee probably didn't get any money from the H&M Longshot t-shirt I bought either. :(

Mmm. That just comes off as we'd like to make some money off your frustrations. Plus let's be fair, you could totally support Cain and the general sentiment that's being argued and not like the writing on the book. The issue here isn't that Mockingbird got cancelled, although by the sounds of it, that is unfortunate too.

Your book shouldn't have to be a success or even good to not get harassed over what effectively seems to be her gender (although I haven't been on much today, not exactly sure if /how the conversation has evolved)

When Trump wins they'll be more optimistic about comics not dying? No one respects women comic creators more than Trump too.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
I wouldn't go as far as to say he writes everyone out of character and in Iron Man they had a nice issue together involving an AA meeting.
s.
Yes they did, which makes how he writes the event book even more confusing

Fuck off with that shit, Marvel.

People have already voted with their wallets, and they've said your way of running business, of pre-ordering months in advance and sight unseen a $3.99 22-pages book in which they may see women well-represented or maybe not, is completely fucking wack.

Plus, okay, let's put things in perspective using an example.

There's been a demand for an America Chavez solo book for a long-ass while. By my guesstimate, at the very least since the Gillen/McKelvie/Wilson Young Avengers run.

Here are some books Marvel has announced, between March 2014 and now.

All-New Invaders
Cyclops
Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier
Deathlok
Slapstick
Solo
Foolkiller
Prowler

Which leads me to this question: what's the point of voting with one's wallet when the ballot is rigged?

Also, do you even realize that it is rigged?

Marvel started losing me when Red She Hulk was cann'd and officially lost me with the deaths of Rhodey, Jennifer, and Bruce and they obviously aren't bringing some other favorites of mine back (Patriot). Not even a promised Prowler solo book and the revival of the X-men can bring me back as at this point. How was the writing on Mockingbird btw?

Good for the most part but I thought the last issue was not good at all tbh.

So comics... read volume 2 of The Fuse. Still an underrated series.

What was super slept on was Johnston's series at oni press with Chris mitten, Wasteland. Amazing book back in the day, a shame the second half was delayed so much but those.first five volumes were something else, and they got there in the end. One of the first independent series I read when I got back in on comics back in 06. Justin Greenwood drew a few of the last arcs too.

How do you expect to see change when people aren't showing support for the content? These companies are clearly trying to diversify their lines and people are vocal in wanting it, but don't want to buy crap. You say the system is rigged, but that's just means you need to take advantage of the opportunities you do get. For example, you say that people have wanted an America book for years, but if they don't support it then it's obviously not going to last and the same people will come back to complain.

Also, Brevoort said the myths about only certain types of sales mattering is BS.

A. Needs all 3 tweets
B. He means buying the book/trades can make a difference. Shit, look at Ms. Marvel, do you think we would be getting Sam Cap or Jane Thor if Kamala bombed within 8 issues?

But it's on his watch too. Mockingbird didn't get a hint of advertising while we get fucking live shows for fucking Civil War 2. Now, all these assholes celebrating about Cain leaving and her book failing and talking down on those who brought the book just now, all because Mockingbird didn't get an iota of a push.

Man, Squirrel Girl is a completely different joke character now than she was when she first started getting dusted off as the nanny in New Avengers.

It's kind of weird she's getting all starry eyed in the Wolverine team up, taking selfies with Laura when she used to bang Logan. In fact that whole joke seems kind of creepy now that she's kind of been de-aged or whatever. She's one of the young'uns now. She used to be a contemporary of the adults (just a D-lister).
