Honestly, the reviews are a little disappointing. I was hoping for more from this.

And another underdeveloped Marvel villain? Really?

Would be more interested if this wasn't part of the MCU. I'm really tired of every superhero movie basically having a connection to another. Probably the biggest reason I liked Deadpool because it was so self-contained (apart from the little bit of Xmen).

And apart from the avengers being mentioned and the credits scene, it sounds like this movie is pretty self contained.

100% RT, 6.7/10 average rating. Yup, sounds like a MCU film.
Talking about RT numbers when only 12 reviews are counted. Yup, sounds like a GAF post.

Lol, definitely does.

People will treat it as 100% and disregard the 6.7... man that gets annoying.
It's annoying that people treat art like math in the first place. Get off these numbers and averages and pay more attention to what's actually being said.

Spider-Man 2 is terrible. Characters speak in monologues like they know they're in a movie.

And yet Alfred Molina still outacts everyone else who's ever been in a superhero film. While playing Doctor fucking Octopus.

And yes, that includes Ledger. Molina dragged a mediocre character and pulled him so high Marvel comics made him fucking Spider-Man,

On topic, this'll suffice until we get Matrix Rebooted

Bart: Well, as Mrs. Krabappel already mentioned, the name of the film that I watched was Doctor Strange. It's about this doctor...(Glances at the poster)...a doctor with a wicked red cape and a cool goatee. Did I mention this film was directed by (Glances again at poster)...by a guy named Scott Derrickson? And produced by the good people at Marvel Studios. So, in conclusion, on the Simpson scale of one to ten--ten being the highest, one being the lowest and five being average--I give this film a nine. (Clears throat) Any questions?

Nah, bruh.
Molina was great and brought alot to the character, but out-act anyone who's ever been in a CBM? Nah.

We've had some good performances in past superhero movies and the genre's current popularity is pulling in so much talent.

Just wait till DC makes a Zatanna movie.

She starts out as a crackhead prostitute who finds out her father abandoned her because of a failed Satanic Ritual she was never meant to survive.

And she realizes all this while dancing in the rain to Breaking Benjamin's "Dance With the Devil".

She then decides to become a Magician or some shit.

I'll wait for the check DC.

if the positive reviews keep coming it looks like we're in for a repeat of 2014 where Marvel puts out a good ass Cap action movie and a good ass weird movie. can't wait

Few of who get a chance to really act. Like I know people rave about RDJ in Civil War, but that doesn't even crack his top five acting performances. Likely not even top ten.

Guys like Ledger and Molina didn't show up to act in big films, they just showed up to act.

Simply stating an opinion! The time has long passed since Raimi was a gold standard for superhero films. I'm more inclined to agree with something like The Dark Knight, but I won't be moved on Peter Parker Cries 2.

What we should really all be railing against is ill-informed reviewers referring to every Marvel properties film under an umbrella term.

It's pretty good. Just not a paradigm superhero films need follow.

I disagree. I don't love Spider-Man 2 as much as some people, but I really do think that it set and continues to be the model for superhero films to follow. It handled so many different things, levity and humour, darkness and drama, with such grace. It was able to tackle real world themes like struggling to make ends meet and self-discovery while still being a goofy, fun adventure.

Spider-Man 2 has been surpassed by a few superhero movies, but it's still the granddaddy of the MCU, the blueprint to it all.

Tobey still sucks tho.

Hey if the protagonist is awful the film really isn't that great. Downside to having a pro like Molina as your foil.

Those scores always seem weird to me as many critics don't even score movies.

Nothing weird about the score. The tomatometer only exists to tell you "this many critics thought it didn't suck," not "this many critics thought it was the greatest thing ever omg 100 percent 10/10"

The average review score is a much better gauge (and some of these are interpolated by RT itself for reviews with no scores.)

Which means everyone thinks it's passable.

True. It's just the average rating of the critics who have seen this film, which isn't too many at this point. There's just 12 reviews after all, but some people will act like the film is a huge disappointment critically anyway for the sake of dramatics, heh.

Btw say what you want about Spiderman 2, but the action sequence on the train is still sitting at the top regarding comic book movies, AND movies in general. Please don't even mention that Snyder dragon ball fight.

Honestly, one of my favorite things in discussion about the Spider-Man films, is correcting people who always over exaggerate the numbers times of Peter Parker actually cries in those films.
I hope they cast Claire Danes as Peter Parker after Homecoming flops and they reboot it again. Then we can really have some next level crying.

Everytime. I'll see y'all in 2045 when Spider-Man 2 gets inducted into the National Film Registry for being the defining superhero movie of the 21st century.
