How is BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND on the Vita? Is the online still active? I've wanted to get a fighting game for the Vita for a while now and from the videos i watched this seems pretty awesome.

It's a good fighting game with a good amount of offline content, but it's completely dead online since it's the final revision of the previous entry in the series.

Continuum Shift Extend is the 3rd revision of the second game, Chrono Phantasma Extend is the 2nd revision of the 3rd game and the most recent Blazblue game until Central Fiction is released outside of arcades this winter. I don't blame you if you're feeling confused right about now.

Offline content is a ~20 hour story mode with a brief recap of the first game (Calamity Trigger), arcade mode, combo trial mode, abyss mode (fight AI and level up character stats/abilities with currency earned) and unlimited mars mode (fight boss-mode versions of characters at the highest difficulty in survival-mode settings).

It's the best starting point for the Blazblue series since the only game you'd need to buy to be up-to-date is Chrono Phantasma Extend afterwards.

Sad to hear that the online is dead but all that offline stuff sound good. For the price it is seems like it's going to be worth it. Cheers dude.

I have Dragon's Dogma vanilla on disc, but never got very far.

Do you guys think it's worth selling the physical copy and grabbing Dark Arisen for 6 GBP?

Hmmm, you don't have a PC, right? Because the PC port is amazing in comparison because of the technical aspects

I do have a laptop, but I live in Japan so Dragon's Dogma doesn't show up on Steam...

Edit: Also would DD Online be a worthy contender? (Seeing as it's free and all.)

Are the differences between FFX/X2 PS4/PS3 versions significant?

According to eurogamer

the PS4 remaster adds a few crucial finishing touches to the existing remastering work. It doesn't match the generational leap in quality of the existing PS3 release, but the refinements are well-considered and it easily ranks as one of the best treatments of Square Enix's back catalogue seen to date. Effects are added, world detail is sparingly bolstered with higher-grade models and textures, but the real icing on the cake is in Final Fantasy X and X-2's aliasing-free 1080p presentation. Even though they each remain bound to 30fps, these two games have simply never looked better on a Sony console.

Add in cross-save compatibility with Vita and PS3 and a new option to run with the game's original soundtrack, this is without a doubt the definitive version.

I don't think there are major differences. Only thing that stands out is the ability to change the soundtrack

I am very tempted to buy Sword art online hallow fragment for that Price. Loved the anime. Is the gameplay fun on the vita? I know its a Huge game and I have a 10 games back log already on the vita...but If the gameplay is fun I believe I could get hooked. Althougt I wished to story was just based on the anime

I'm on the fence about getting Virtue’s Last Reward GAF. I've heard good things about it but is it worth getting since I haven't played 999, (I'm not even sure I can buy that game in UK)?

I've heard people enjoyed VLR without playing 999 but Id recommend against it. They are currently teasing a 999 port to Vita/PC, so you could wait for that! If you'd rather play 999 sooner you would have to import a US copy for the DS

It runs terribly on the Vita -- low fps (15 and so), even some lag on menus. Hope that helps.

Edit: additionally, it's a short game, so it doesn't really benefit from being portable.

That helps a lot, wasn't aware of the frame-rate issues.
Also glad to know it's relatively short, was hesitating on adding another big game to my backlog lol.
Thanks.

Do you own a DS? 999 is available on Amazon UK for about £25. It is well, WELL worth it. You should defo play it first.

Well, fuck me for buying SFV Deluxe Edition just to find out that I can't access the season pass with my main PS4 account.
I've got a seperate digital purchase and gaming account and this is the first time I've come across a season pass locked to my payment account only. Usually, all the accounts on the primary PS4 can access all content. 15€ well wasted. :(

few questions regarding sword art online hollow fragment for ps4

is it necessary to be connected online to play this game?

Also are the mp trophies doable? Is there a long grind? And can they all be achieved solo?

Is the Resident Evil Remake on PS4 worth getting if I own it on Wii? I've only played a little bit of it.

From Digital Foundry:

character models are redesigned, the mansion's lighting model is overhauled, and certain backdrops get the full, polygonal 3D treatment.

As most backdrops and cut-scenes are pre-baked at 1920x1080, the resolution slider simply re-scales assets to your screen's preferred output, with no real change to detail. But for true geometric elements, such as characters, inventory screens, and remodeled 3D areas (one favourite being the cellar), a boost to higher resolutions goes a long way to sharpening the presentation.

but

The PS4 version flags up a minor issue of its own. Frame-pacing at 30fps isn't properly implemented on Sony's hardware, resulting in occasional judder mostly in cut-scenes, but also during short bursts in gameplay. This essentially means the PS4 frame-rate averages out at 30fps, but the ordering of frames is occasionally uneven in comparison to the Xbox One and PC versions. The perceived effect is that the PS4 is dropping frames, occasionally creating a stutter to running animations - and even pre-rendered cut-scenes. Thanks to the mostly static nature of the presentation, it's not impactful to gameplay, but it's a curious phenomenon bearing in mind that the other versions works exactly as they should.

I don't know if these are fixed with a patch or not. I bought the RE Origins Edition, which includes RE Remake HD and RE 0 HD. I don't remember there being a patch when I downloaded RE Remake. I only played a little bit of the game, since i'm busy with Gravity Rush HD, but it didn't bother me, YMMV of course.

The game isn't actually online. It's a virtual MMO. It's does have some online co op but afaik the MP trophies can be done solo as well.

The trophies are a grind though, guides say 100+ hours

So in the end my haul from this was:

Final Fantasy (PSP)
Final Fantasy II (PSP)
Final Fantasy III (PSP)
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PSP)
Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP)
Muramasa Rebirth (Vita)
Dark Cloud (PS4)
Dark Chronicle (PS4)
Rogue Galaxy (PS4)
Okage: Shadow King (PS4)

Not sure when I'll find time to play them all haha.

I hope you're right. I have VLR and am about to buy the 3rd one, but I need to play 999 first. I don't mind buying the PC version but I'd rather have them all on my Vita.

Yeah its not the greatest name but Japan gonna Japan

Do you know/remember .hack? It's pretty much like that

never played the .hack games.
But i've seen footage of this game and it does look like fun.

My only concern was needing to be online, but you squashed those fears :)

Picked up Hollow Fragment in the sale and put a good few hours into it. If you're a fan of the anime, you'll enjoy it - the combat can get repetitive, but it's a solid game that's definitely worth the current price of admission.

It was teased a while ago and yesterday at Anime Expo it was revealed that ports of 999 are in the making.

It's not official that it's a vita and steam port yet, but that's probably reserved for a different announcement. While 999 is a stand alone game, you'll want to play it first in this series.

Can't wait to dive into digimon, I don't know the first thing about the franchise but from the moment I saw footage of the game I found it really appealing.

I grabbed SAO PS4 on my US account when it was $4.99 a few months ago. Played a few hours but got distracted by other games. Need to get back to it, I'm still not quite sure I fully understand the battle system in that one.

When the hell am I going to find the time for all this? I said a few pages back that I wasn't going to buy Digimon because of lack of funds and a huge backlog but my brother bought it and I'm not going to resist diving in before finishing what's on my plate right now, which includes Cold Steel, another gigantic game I've been chipping away at for 3 months now and I'm not even halfway through. Sigh...

You could definitely play a minute of each! Good luck completing them all though.

Digimon is really neat, I picked up the Day 1 Edition like two weeks ago from Fnac during the recent sale they had and I've been having fun with it. I had my expectations really low though, so that might be why I'm enjoying it so much, the first hours have you go through the same looking dungeons without offering much of a challenge, the characters and plot are decent enough though.

I'll keep in mind that it has a slow start. Kinda the norm for most of the jrpgs I've played lately lol.

I'm wondering about the original Silent Hill. Did they use the original PAL ROM or is this one of the few exceptions? And if it is the original European ROM, will it make much of a difference other than the small children being replaced with smaller monsters?

So, really fancy buying the FF X/X-2 remaster. How are they? Haven't played the games in ages so i fear i'll just end up soiling my good memories of the games.

They ruined the faces in FFX but I still enjoy it every time I replay it.

Ninja Gaiden 2 on Vita - yay or nay? I know it has fps issues but I'm thinking I might be able to overlook that. Are they any other woes to be aware of?

Hey guys, I just got a PS Vita today. Which games on sale would you recommend?

I'm looking at Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Disgaea 4 at the moment.

SAO isn't very good... I paid half price(w.e that is) and felt ripped off - bad translation + the actual game mechanics aren't well implemented. I've only played Disgaea 3 but it wasn't very memorable for me.
Digimon Cyber Sleuth & Persona 4 are must buy's imo.
If you like craftin RPG's , Atelier Rorona plus might be fun-ish , its not great but still fun.
Danganronpa is a must buy if you like VN's + RPG's tbh. It's a VN with some video game mini games.
Gravity Rush is good as well, it has a remastered version with dlc on ps4 though.
Metal Gear Solid HD collection is great if you like the games or haven't played them before.
Muramasa Rebirth is highly praised but I think it's overhyped, but still fun.
Steins gate is an interesting+highly coveted VN, but you need to use a guide to get all of the endings.
Tales of hearts R is a good Tales of game, if you like RPOG's. Japanese VO only though (makes it better imo).
The Legend of Heroes - Trails of Cold steel is another coveted vita rpg , I haven't played it enough to have an opinion of it.
I think Ys is on sale as well but I felt it drags out too long.

Sword Art Online gets a recommendation from me, having a great time having picked it up for PS4 on the sale myself.

DariusBurst for £15? I feel like I should be sold on this, but I'm not pulling the trigger.

I have access to both a PS4 and Vita (4GB memory card urgh), which would be the best to get it on?

Seeing as my Dragon's Dogma issue solved itself, I'm thinking of grabbing Phantom Pain. Can't see it going lower than 16quid any time soon. Ground Zeroes was great, and I'd love to see what Kojima and co. did for this final installment. Just hope I don't miss Hayter's iconic grunts too much...
