Both games play differently than traditional monster hunter, what I personally think the strength to these two are their story.
If you like dark fantasy settings inspired by grim tales and magic; Soul Sacrifice has a really engaging narative
If you are more familiar with Mystical Japanese stories or have played and enjoy any of Koei/Omegaforce's games then u will probs like Toukiden

I feel like Toukiden feels more similar to traditional Monster Hunter, there are weapon classes and a hub world as well as linear upgrade paths

Both games are great and are unique!

Also Freedom Wars is also awesome, if u are in to more dystopian sci-fi ;D

Interesting thanks for this :) i may however just stick with freedom wars and see how i go from there.

Also ive heard lots of great things from people on gaf about the Zero time games, Can i start from virtues last reward or would i have had to play previous games?

You should definitely play 999 first.

It's currently only on DS with a watered down mobile version (visual novel only, no puzzles), but Vita and Steam ports were hinted at so maybe wait and see.

Ok so i've sort of shortened my list as i only had $103 AU in my wallet.

So i ended up buying.

FF2
FF3
FF4 Complete Collection
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Resident evil 6 (ps4)
Disgaea 5

All for around $85 AU

I last minute took Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragmentation out coz i wasn't 100% sure on it. Might get it before this sale ends, we'll see.
Might grab those pac man ghostly adventure games too, maybe..

Pacman and the ghostly Adventures

LOTSA great stuff.

On a sort of related note: any way to rip the lovely yellow background of the sale page? Would like to make a wallpaper for PSV out of it.

How are the versions of FFT and Front Mission 3 on the EU PSN? Any 50hz shenanigans? Looking to pick them up for the Vita.

I loooooove Bayonetta 1 and 2. But haven't played a Devil may cry game since the third one in 2005. How do something like Devil may cry 4 special edition compare to say Bayo 2?

Any game in the sale which has a long single player campaign?

I'm considering purchasing DMC but what else has substantial single player content? I'll be buying a PC within the next year but was going to buy MGS V but the PS4 version looks quite unimpressive when compared to the PC version.

Is there a discernible difference between PS3 and Vita version of Steins Gate? I think I'd rather play it on Vita...

Ah, that's dissapointing :(

Not much for me in this sale as too many games I still have to complete, was interested in Disgaea 5 but no vita version annoyingly.

Just going to buy Muramasa rebirth and leave it at that.

You guys had the Golden Week sale back in april though. This is just the EU version of that.
Golden Week sale was great, I actually bought a few title in it. But I don't think it was this big. I remember it was 3-4 pages or so.
(maybe I'm just remembering the PS4 deals?)

So what are the hot PS4 picks ? I've grabbed Resident Evil 6 and already have DmC and Gravity Rush Remastered. Still on the fence about Phantom Pain.

Is Dragon's Crown not showing up on the pc store for any one else?

Also is Resident Evil 2 playable on psvita?

You should probably remove Mind Zero unless you know what you're getting (i.e. mostly garbage) and are ok with that. Maybe for 5€ I would buy it
Also if you haven't played Trails of Cold Steel it should be on that list

The rest seems like a good mix of games
Ok mind zero removed! :)
A good visual Novel for vita? Already played steins gate, danganrompa saga and time zero saga

Trails i have to play the other one before?

What is the consensus on the SAO games? Been interested in them for a while.

May pick up Tales of Zestirea too. Never played any of the Tales games before but I am majorly craving a JRPG (and the reviews of the new Star Ocean have put me off that).

Phantom Pain I think is worth getting simply because the gameplay is superb. Story won't knock your socks off in places but it's not bad, if you do get it make the effort to listen to the audio tapes though, meat of the story is there.

I just picked up GR:Re finally.

SAO HF is a mixed bag, but it has a ton of content for the price so give it a shot. Go for the PS4 version though. I think people generally say Lost Song is worse.

Zestiria is similar. I really liked the characters, the story and the battles, but it has one of the most annoying and flat out terrible equipment/passive skill systems in any JRPG I have ever played.

They're both enjoyable but far from perfect.

If playing on PS3 isn't an issue I'd recommend Xillia instead of Zestiria tbh. If you can live with weaker story and weaker characters in exchange for great combat go for Graces f.

If you want to play the best controlling third person shooter and best stealth action game (atm), you would get phantom pain.

You are at least guaranteed 20-30 hrs of solid stealth gameplay and missions before things become grindy once chapter 1 gets over.

That is more gameplay than any of the previous mgs mainline games.

Ok GAF, help me pick. I need a game to sink some hours into and my choice comes down to either:

Dark Souls II (Played the original DS2 but heard mixed things about the new version)
or
Digimon (I'm a Pokemon guy and dabbled with Digimon as a kid but no big reverence for the critters)

Since you already played most of DS2 definitely go for Digimon.

Since you already played the original DS2 I'd say go for Digimon, I'm finding it to be a lot of fun despite being a Pokémon guy myself. Grinding doesn't feel like a chore because you get rewarded the more you fight the same monsters, it looks pretty clean overall and runs well. If there's something to be pointed out is that so far the game has been an absolute cakewalk but there's an Hard difficulty setting.

EDIT: Yian you ninja ;(

Guys don't ignore tokyo twilight ghost hunters
and silent hill book of memories
!

I'll buy for sure:
lost dimension
trillion

maybe:
noire
disgaea 4

unlikely:
ciminal girls
malicious rebirth
croixleur sigma

Lost Dimension has LOADING SCREENS IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLE.
You have been warned.

Is Freedom Wars worth getting? What is the game like?

Monster Hunter Clone mixed with some Lost Planet. You can use AI partners (that are actually pretty good) if you can't find anyone online.
Great music and atmosphere. Visually gorgeous. Very unique take on the a monster hunting game with its story and presentation. Definitely a must-have Vita game.

Nice sale!
Are there any big differences between the PS4 and Vita versions of Digimon (besides obvious technical ones)? Before they released I read something of the sort but Idk if that was true or not. If I have a choice I'd rather play rpgs on the Vita but if there are big differences (such as additional content) I might have to go for the PS4 version
