New Avengers #12: What is my deal with this book. I have to force myself to read it but when I do it's almost always an excellent ride. This issue legit made me lol:

"Not the toilets, though. I delegate that."

"I am proud to szzerve you, master! PROUD to record their EVERY defecation in HIGH-DEFINITION VIDEO!"

The New Revengers
are a bit...underwhelming, though.
Even I don't know who half those dudes are.

And I guess every CW II tie in is required to
start with the scene of that Celestial throwing down? I get that pretty much everybody was there for that but it's already kinda old.

Is my boy Sandoval still on New Avengers or did they boot him off because America is all "ew anime gross"?

my entire gaming agenda for the last year can be summarized in Hearthstone, Rocket League, and Overwatch. Right now it's all overwatch all the time, but i might start uncharted 4 this weekend to try to create artificial sony e3 hype where there is none. This generation has been incredibly boring, maybe Witcher 3 would have had more of a lasting impact had i played the dlc but it really comes down to the trash story and flow built around meandering about in search for Ciri begging people for info that kept me from championing it. Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 were nice diversions but that's aboot it, i have already forgotten about both.

Nintendo is a mistake. I've given up on Microsoft.

All that remains is comics.

Started watching Green Lantern: The Animated Series to both A) fill the action show void left in my heart after Daredevil S2's disappointment; B) finish an unfinished show (which means Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated is next up); C) follow up on all the GL love coming off of Blackest Night GL and Red Lanterns; D) get back in to that action cartoon mindset in order to fully appreciate the new Voltron series.

Anyways, GL:TAS is pretty good after the initial few episodes. Basic as far as arcs go, but it delivers on the action pretty well. Really cool seeing set up for
Sinestro Corps
. Also an interesting choice with
the Anti-Monitor
as a big bad. Is that character really that integral to Green Lantern mythos in the comics? Regardless, it's pretty solid show. Disappointed about its cancellation, but alas, tis the fate of a man to feel such when he's a fan of action cartoons. Also, ever since Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, I've become a full believer in CG being able to deliver just as well as 2D (though I still prefer the latter). I wonder if the TMNT cartoon's action will be more appealing to me now. I watched a season and a half of that show and then dropped it out of disinterest at the time. I've been meaning to go back to it.

Anyways, onwards to more Buffy S8. Picking up after cosmic sex should be interesting.

Wow, that was fantastic.

Really love Abe's solo story, it reminds me a lot of something like Vagabond, where it's not all monster fighting like in BPRD but more about self-reflection and Abe's journey to find out what his purpose is.

Art was beautiful, too.

New Revengers??? Hmmmmm... Paibok and Vermin!?!? Together at last!

Man in all seriousness I haven't seen Paibok since the Drax miniseries way back then.

Interesting, seems like two brothers alternate chapters on Abe Sapien. They're styles are similar, though, that the book keeps a pretty consistent look to it.

Stray Bullets is no joke. Read that first story and I was at the edge of my seat. If the whole series plays around with pulp and Tarantino-esque characters and storylines I'm in 100%.

I love how fast the book reads too. It'll help me get through it at a decent rate.

Edit:

Hooooooooly shit
Spanish Scott
is a wild character.

And I've seen Star Wars seven times you condescending fuck.

Edit 2:

This is one of the best books I've ever read.

No, no, I get it.

I refuse to watch the last episode of Psych for the fame reason. As long as I don't, Shaun and Gus are still having wacky escapades somewhere.

This is it. I am terrified that Katchoo or Francine
dies or gets shot by the end of it. I can't deal with loss after such a long book.

I can't or Katchoo goes away forever :(

Some people don't get ends to their books, Messi. Finish your periodicals before you go to bed or you're grounded, m8.

Seriously, how did Stray Bullets fans feel? If 10 is Half Life 3 and 1 is Chinese Democracy, where was your disappointment at? How did Stray Bullets end in your head canon?

they didn't have zootopia to rent so i rented zoolander 2 instead, i presume they are of similar quality because of their names.

I started reading Sandman Mystery Theatre...damn, this is amazing! Why doesn't this get talked about more often? It's the best thing I've ever read from Matt Wagner, I didn't know he was a writer of prose on that level.

Really excited to dig into this after I order vol 1 on Tuesday.

I keep bringing it up whenever I can in recommendation threads. One of the best super-hero runs I've read. And it is also more than a just a super-hero comic. I love how the time period and societal conditions at that time are depicted.

Oh nice. Be sure to read the Thanos mini-series that came before.

Oh good call. It wasn't included in the MU reading list. But it was one of the first things I bought on CMX and I never got around to reading it. I'll do that today though it will be a bit out of order now.

I have to say I don't think the art in the Annihilation Prologue matched the epic nature in which the book was written. Not that the art was bad. Just seemed like poor style choice.

Have their been any great fantasy esc books from publishers like Vertigo or Image lately that are worth checking out? Something akin to maybe Game of Thrones setting? As in the fantasy time period, not the same type of story necissarily. I don't want GoT the book, just can't think of a better way to describe what I'm looking for other than fantasy/medieval.

Also what are the recommended trades/arcs for Hellblazer for someone that hasn't read anything pre New 52? Are there any larger collections than the tpbs available also?

I asked the same question a week or two ago and it seemed like there are no good grim-dark fantasy comics.

However, if you haven't already read Berserk, I'd suggest checking that out, it's manga but it's exactly what you're looking for.
I haven't read it but Birthright might be what you're looking for. Tooth & Claw as well maybe
