I'd be bothered by it if they were also charging for map packs and characters, but since that isn't the case I'm fine with it for loot boxes.

Perfect score not necessarily mean 'perfect' game. Some would suggest that the idea of a 'perfect' game is silly. Scoring rubrics are unique per outlet, but a perfect score generally just means a game of the highest quality. It may still have niggling issues, but likely nothing that significantly mars its superlative quality.

lol these reviews. Most overrated game of all time?

I bought it btw and spent a lot of time with the beta. Just can't get past how unbelievably generic and lacking in content it is. I'm gonna keep playing because all my friends are into it, but it's so unimpressive.

How would you put it against Team Fortress 2?

I bought the game and been playing it the past 2 days. Maybe I am one of those few who will probably gonna get hate here because what i am about to say but here it goes.

I don't think the game deserve a 10 out of 10 or anything close to that. A maximum score of 9 is what i believe is justified for this game. For a simple reason too. There is no content here. The looting system is weak. outside of Skins, who cares what paint you do at the beginning of the level ? why is that even a looting option ? I get it there is no Weapon looting due to the nature of the game. but give us a skin for the guns that is different from the skin as a whole character + gun. it will give us more reasons to actually loot.

like, There is no challenges to make me excel in something in the game. I can let my 7 years old brother for example play, lose, and I will still level up XP to get a looting box at the end of the day.

found a skin you like ?.. yes nice. save lil coins.. nice. you buy that skin... then what? also, what is the point of the leveling system ? I am level 10 or 11 now I forgot. but what does it to for me ? it doesn't unlock anything. just a loot box for each level. is there even a prestige kinda thing if you hit the max level of the game ?

the core game it self is fun. you can play for couple of hours, then you get bored... but you come back to it after few hours . which admittedly is what playing video games is for anyway, the fun part. but a 10 out of 10 like some sites are giving it ? no far from it

I understand the content complaints, but generic? It may share a resemblance with battle born, but there isn't a lot else in this niche, where TF2 has reigned in virtually unchallenged supremacy for the last decade.

Leveling system is fluff. If you need external motivation to play the game, I agree, this is a disappointing game. The leveling system and cosmetics are extras. The games primary motivation is intrinsic. Play to have fun and get better. If that's not enough, then you'll be disappointed.

For what it's worth, there will be a ranked mode added to the game mid to late June, according to the devs.

I mean, I don't get this. Yeah, your seven year old could play the game. Doesn't mean they'd play it very competently. The game isn't so shallow that you can really say "there is no challenge."

I'm not a fan of that game either, but playing Overwatch made me respect it a lot more. It's F2P, like 10 years old and is more enjoyable to play imo.

I wouldn't even consider the character variety in OW to be an advantage, considering how uniformly ugly and annoying to play against they all are.

I can remember a time when there were no skins or unlocks and we still had fun with the games we played, i feel old.
I don't care for reviews though, the game takes me back to those times when a game was just fun to play. None of this useless unlocking, just pick and play.

The motivation for playing is to have fun with the game itself, not to get a loot crate. Loot crates are not that important anyway

By your criteria, Counter-Strike might be a shit game

I didn't enjoy the beta. It felt like a really generic shooting game with little depth to it. Also graphics made it feel like it should be f2p. Just my opinion.

The buttshots of the waifus in this game though are perfectly legit!

Damn, how did you survive playing any online shooter pre-COD4 that doesn't have mandatory unlocks, level ups, prestiges, etc? The question you should be asking yourself is, are you having fun playing the actual game? And will I continue playing this for several hours?

I'm in the same boat, beta didn't do anything for me. Played for over an hour with different characters, had not much fun. Guess these kind of games are not meant for me.

Still, weird for me to see all those high review scores as I really couldn't see any appeal to it.

The time I spent with Overwatch on live servers matches the time I spent with it on the beta servers, it's great fun and just clicks. Not to mention I really love that all the heroes play differently enough that you're not able to just copy paste your style with one to another. It keeps things fresh in my opinion.

And the visuals! I love them. It's so nice to play a shooter with such bright and vibrant colors and models. It looks fantastic.

Soccer is a bad example though since both Fifa and Pes have single player career modes :p

I get your point though and there is matches against AI if thats what your into.

The fact that future heroes and maps will be free once you bought the game makes the 40 Euro pricetag worth it for me.

Oh and the fact that it has the Blizzard fun magic.

Before COD, the only online i played was PSO on Dreamcast and i loved it. It has one of the best looting too lol.

I never said the game is not fun or i am not enjoying, if anything, Its exactly the opposite as the i mentioned the core game play is fun. but do i find my self playing this for several hours in the upcoming 1 or 2 months ? who knows. I might get bored and never come back to it. just like how I am bored right now with Destiny ( level 334 on all characters ) but that game took me long enough to get bored from it, between the PVP, Raids, Exotic quests etc. There is nothing here.the longevity of the game is non existent. That is why it's far from 10 game for me.

and for the record, god knows when was the last time i played a COD game lol. i think i rented ghosts for 1 day before i gave up on the whole thing .

I really don't get it, what's the fuss about skins in an FPS where you don't even see yourself, just rarely... Also I have a weird thing, that I like the default skins over anything else 99% of the time, so I could care less.
Microtransactions are fucked, up thought, always....But it won't go away, so until it's not pay to win, who cares...

Actually the rate is always the same from level 20 and up, and you return to pre-20 levels when you prestige.

It's for cosmetics only. It's fine. People do realize that games before had very few cosmetics, if they even had tem in the first place? You will match the "good days of old" ammount of skins with 5 hours of gameplay.
