Aris' voice is always entertaining, and I loved his DS playthrough even if it was slow.

I was hoping for someone like Peeve / Oro / Kay, but I'll take anything that isn't Game Grumps.

Now that was a rough Dark Souls II playthrough...

I fucking hate the cross promotion and marketing for this game. It just seems to be the complete opposite of what the game is. Fucking stupid chicken wings and shitty mobile games. Like, I understand, it's a big IP now and Bamco want it to reach everyone they can but c'mon, can't they tie things in a bit more to the mood and tone and setting of the game?
 
boy you would've hated the SNES/PSX days of all the amazing games you wanted to play taking months, years, or not even coming overseas.

The closest we have to that feeling these days seems to be with the Dragon Quest games.

Chances the English Version will be downloaded instead when you download the Xbox One version from the Japanese store? Same way I get all my other games, Argentinian version of the division was just the English version when I downloaded it from their store .
 
I agree OP, I'm not mad anything but it was magical for there to actually be undiscovered secrets while I was playing through the game and discussing here on GAF.

Ive already watched vaati's 3 part pre release walkthrough. Fuck im so weak, the next 2 or 3 weeks is gonna be rough. I was strong with knowing nothing until the last week where I just gave in completley.
 
Can't wait to play the neutered version like i had to do with Dark Souls 2 PC release!!!!

Seriously though this 3 week delay when they have already handed out English release copies to journalist and DS streamers/youtubers is pretty infuriating.

Yes, cover sucks pretty hard but it's not as corny as the OG DS2 cover. The 'tough guy' walking away from camera shit was even worse. I'm not even sure what this is supposed to be particularly but it looks pretentious.

Demon's Souls cover all the way for me.

Beat me with Kirkhammers if old :)

- Max FPS: 60fps (even with ini tweaks)
- "GTX 770 enough for 60fps in highest settings". GTX 760 offers around 40-45fps in max. settings. So take the GTX770 numbers with a grain of salt. I think you will have to turn some settings down on the GTX770 or play with 50fps average.
- No specific settings for HBAO+/MSAA/SMAA. SSAO from Low to High and AA on and off - That's it.
- Dual Core CPU is enough to start the game :/ (no comment about performance). Long loading times though.
- M+KB controls are iffy. Mouse has trouble with 4K resolution.
- Game crashed a couple of times (FROM told them that they are still optimizing).
- They use an 980 ti in the Video. 2,4 GB VRAM on max. texture settings in 1080p.#
- Uses the Bloodborne engine
- 8GB RAM more than enough

That's it. Enjoy :) Don't know if that's worthy of a new thread.

LET THE JAPANESE BETA TEST THE RETAIL VERSION SO THAT WE CAN GET THE GLORIOUS 1.1 WITH LESSER LOADING TIMES AND BUG FIXES.

Be grateful for times in life.
 
There doesn't seem too much hype around, comparing it with DSII or BB, but maybe that's because I'm not in "the scene". However, that's a wonderful thing, I still don't know jack shit about the game and that's just the right way to get into it. I'll miss missable achievements but who cares. I wanna have that Dark Souls I feeling just one more time, with a sense of wonder, and melancholy.

Sounds great. Although a shame for people who want 60+FPS
 
People are being dicks to you but i see your point. It's a pain for the Internet to know the whole game before we play it. Some of the magic of new discovery will be missing. Most major questions will be answered by the time English release hits.

It will be missing that sense of community exploration that the other releases had. You can't come in gaf and expect to raise a completely novel question.

For all the reasons you mentioned and the ease of importing it, I'm simply going to import it.

Pros:


  • Was very easy to do; Make a JP PSN account, buy some Japanese PSN money from Play Asia, preorder the game, download it, done!
  • Avoid all problems you said; Be in the first wave of people discovering game
  • NPC voiceover is in English
  • Souls games not heavily reliant on text
Cons:


  • Japanese text will need to be interpreted, Google Translate on my phone is pretty good at this though and should be effective at assisting me in determining what menu options are and what items/spells do
  • Google Translate App may be insufficient for really getting the flavor and full meaning of the item descriptions, but I'm willing to live with this and get more into the lore later in the NA release
  • Likely trophies won't be compatible with my USA PSN account but I could be wrong

Later on I plan to get hte PC version for dat 60 fps, and that'll be my NA version.
 
Back in my day (2009...) we didn't have the luxury of playing our first Souls games without it already having been completely figured out by the Japanese playerbase unless we imported the game as well. Although we did have one option that they did not have when the game launched: ignoring a mostly completed Wiki.

I was so close to ordering the JP PS4 Version through Amazon.co.jp
But I returned to earth before it was too late.

I wonder how well that google glasses thing will work(the one where you can just camera over the text and it auto translates).

  1. take picture of screen
  2. use finger to highlight japanese text
  3. google spits out english translation in real time of whatever you drew over with your finger
try it. only takes a few seconds to do.
