id Software shows alternative cover arts for DOOM, are 100x better than the default.

I was hoping one of them would have the optical illusion of a second gun in the hand of the protagonist where there is none.

Now THOSE are DOOM covers!

Damn, these both look so good. Either of them winning will be great.

Most people also couldn't care less about boxart. You should see my brother's game collection. Cases all chewed up by dogs, sleeves missing, and some even pulled out to be used as drink coasters, etc.

Sure, but for people generally unaware of upcoming releases publishers need an attractive box to catch their attention in the shop. For the bros who play COD, a sports game and not a lot else they're probably going to show more interest in a very generic 'man with gun' pose than something a little weird depicting a big battle in Hell, or a fairly minimal demon face on a black background.

Which is a shame, because before now I think all Bethesda games have had nice box art with a degree of flair and artistry which hasn't pandered to anyone.

I love both but option B all the way. Its a great cover and an awesome throw back to the original games artwork. Damn I really wish they went with that out of the gate, its fantastic.

I hope the artist who drew B is reading this and smiling over his small victory over everyone wanting his work over the focus-test-approved cover we're getting.

Yeah, that's what I iterated in my post earlier. Also the Fallout boxart has always been generic but it's kept to a theme at least.

Voted (option B, obviously). The Twitter poll isn't well done, though. You have to copy & paste at least one link to double-check which is which, and most kids of today just won't bother and opt for A, even accidentally. Also, option B should have come first in the poll.

Option B is making me want to by a physical copy for PC. I cant remember that last time I did that.

With so much being said abut how generic and shitty the current boox-art is, Bethesda HAVE to know people think it sucks. Is there any chance they will change it?

Option B would make me buy the game day 1.

I have such a backlog that I look for any excuse to delay or avoid new purchases. The current cover slightly suggests they sold out to a marketing department and focus groups will dictate game design. That's enough to make it something I will buy in 2 years if at all.
