Fire Emblem Fates Releases in NA Feb. 19th; $80 Special Edition Announced

I'm really hoping the delay is because of Revelation being on the cart and having a date of March 11 and that this is just their computer system being super dumb about it and that it gets ironed out tomorrow. Because otherwise those delays are likely going to become cancellations and I'm not going to literally sit and wait a month to play this game on the off chance that the special edition is shipped to me before then.

Bought from actual Best Buy site, just got a "delayed until 3/14" notice. Ordered from Best Buy's ebay site for in-store pickup, order was cancelled. WTF BEST BUY.

edit: Also got one from Frys a few hours ago with in-store pickup. Keep hearing that they are going to give those out to people in-line, regardless of online preorders.

I JUST WANT THIS GAME. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK ㅠㅡㅠ

The language is that they are guaranteeing it by that date, it's not when they expect to fulfill it.

I just got the email too. I am regretting not placing it for in-store pick up when I ordered in November.

I think I am going to email them and complain. That is something I never do.

What the fuck, 3/14???

This is Awakening all over again. I caved and got the digital version back then, but I can't just abandon the SE....fucking hell Best Buy GET IT TOGETHER.

But how does that theory work if people are expecting their amazon orders tomorrow?

If I don't get a shipping notification tomorrow, I'm raising hell. Email, phones, whatever it takes.

This is fucking unacceptable business practice, and I can guarantee I'll never order anything limited like this from them ever again.

Maybe I'm speaking out of turn here, but this seems to be a Nintendo issue as well as Best Buy. This stuff always seems to happen with Nintendo products way more than other products. For some insane reason, everything Nintendo has is super limited. Bravely Default, Majora's Mask, etc.

Best Buy probably gets their allotment numbers directly from Nintendo, so maybe Nintendo messed up somehow.

I don't know, just trying to look at both sides of the fence here and not pile on Best Buy without knowing all the facts, because Best Buy has always been good to me, and this seems to be a recurring trend with Nintendo CE titles.

So those that are now getting 3/14 emails from BestBuy, were you waiting for your order status to change?

Yes - and I had called their 1-800 customer service number and she was convinced I'd still get it tomorrow. I knew I wouldn't if it hadn't changed by 8PM. Looks like I'll let my GCU lapse and stick with Amazon Prime. I spent over $5000 last year at Best Buy - this year it's going elsewhere. I think I'll cancel their credit card too.

This isn't a fucking Nintendo issue. Best buy put up the SE on ebay an hour before this shit.

This is best buy being the fucking worst.

It's just a bad look to sell 2,000 of them on eBay even if they are being cancelled and then within the same 10 minute stretch mass e-mail people who have had it locked down for months to say it is delayed. And the delay is basically going to be a cancellation because they aren't going to get any more. If they can't fulfill them now they won't be able to fulfill them in three more weeks either.

the eBay listing coming to an end and then this wave of emails going about about bb.com cancellations CANNOT be coincidence... something fishy is going on

Everyone is panicking, this will be fixed by tomorrow. If you ordered in store just get your papers to the store and pick it up.

It seems like these are people who ordered for shipping and not in store pickup having a problem. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I ordered November 12th for store pickup and mine says it is ready.

Nintendo should increase quantity on this stuff. There's no need to miss an SE for a game like this because you're at dinner or something. They could easily let preorders go for at least a few days without it being overproduced. There's a lot of middle ground between too much and this.

They do get the numbers from Nintendo. Is why they only allowed preorders back then. But a few things make it a bit suspect.

Back then their online preorders lasted more than Amazon and Gamestop. And even Gamestop opened by accident the preorders again and cancelled those.

Now the eBay thing which seems to be a mistake of sorts and allowed 2,000 more orders. And right the moment this is going on, they send the delay emails.

Something was messed up on their end. The SE not even appearing on tbeir newly listed items on eBay was weird too.

Yeah i'm pretty sure someone messed up. The influx of new orders probably shook the (already belated) system.

Can someone tell me about this email?

My message says Your Best Buy - XXXXXX order is confirmed. When ready for pick up, we will email pick up instructions. I got this 20 minutes ago, and there has been no follow up message.

Did you guys receive this before the cancellation?

if it's site to stored it still would be an order through the store.
beyond that I am pretty sure I ordered from the online store before and it has the same forms as an online order for an in store return.

could have changed, but either way it's not a big deal.

if people get this for $80 at this point I think they will be happy.
It's not and the order numbers are labeled as such. BBY01-EB is for eBay orders. The forms may be the same, but the domains are treated differently. That's why you don't get myBBY rewards when buying through their eBay store.

People could still get lucky and reorder in store, but it's not very likely.

I don't know if this is relevant but I edited my order last week. I had to change it from my parent's address to my current address and my shipping went from free to ~$9. The free option had no date of arrival but the $9 said it would arrive tomorrow.

I did get a shipping confirmation yesterday afternoon and it is slated to arrive tomorrow on time.

Wow. Wow. So Best Buy delays orders placed on their site to then fucking list Ebay orders? What the fucking hell. They shipped the NDS to me days ago and I here I am waiting on the game to ship only to get an email telling me delayed until the 14 of next month. Fucking hell.

That makes no sense...

If this is a pseudo-cancellation I'm going to be fucking pissed off. Refund me 200+ dollars or fuck off, Best Buy, how can you treat 3 month old preorders like this?

ah.

I'd rather pay $20 more and not deal with my local best buy personally >.>;

What I mean is, is that some employee put this up without authorization of any kind just to fuck with everyone?
Would be weird. But I did noticed that it wasn't listed along their other newly listed items, but 2 other FE Fates products were.

Unless it was a hidden listing and said person spread the link online. Which I think is possible...but from a retailer is really weird.

It might just be a coincidence. I don't know if their eBay listing is directly linked systematically to their warehouse or allotment numbers in their system. My guess is they would have put that listing up separately with a specific spare number in mind. But I could be wrong.

It does seem fishy that those emails came around the same time, but it could be a coincidence. I don't think the eBay orders will be taking away orders from the website orders.

conspiracy theory: best buy losing too much money on GCU with this title. best buy sells 2000 units at full price on eBay. best buy slowly cancels GCU orders.

yeah it's crazy.

but what if

A poster on Cheapassgamer mentioned that this same e-mail went out as a mistake on a previous title, so there is potentially the same problem here. Also, the 3/14 date is likely just a placeholder. At this point release date isn't happening, but I doubt there is a restock, so getting it yes or no should be confirmed soon.

I have it "Processing", and it says its arriving on Feb 25.

I should have selected Pick-Up, but I don't trust my local Wal-Mart...

I know you're being partially facetious, but it's highly doubtful. Best Buy would piss off a lot of customers and would have much more to lose in the eyes of their consumer base than they would gaining money by cancelling GCU orders. Also, if they wanted to start screwing GCU customers, why randomly pick this game of all games to start with, that is limited quantity? Why not pick a more expensive CE with a much larger stock?

yeah good points all around, and yeah I wasn't being serious. the whole thing is just strange and fishy and makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes there.
