You could probably get the $799 price if they don't look at the sold out part though I personally think it's a lot more efficient to get a GTX 970 now and then upgrade in 3-5 years to that tier again if you want best bang for buck on a video card.

Yes, online. What's the ebates 1% cashback?

Thanks for the help, friends :)
You get a percentage on the item you ordered. Ebates.ca has listed the NCIX for 1% cashback. http://www.ebates.ca/coupons/NCIX

So, you ordered the GPU for 799.99 (subtotal) at NCIX and use ebates 1% cashback. You will earn $7.99 from it. It's basically free money.

If you want to know if they are legit or not. They are definitely legit. I already earned $50 from them.

Anyone want to try talking me out of splurging on this laptop as a stopgap until the dollar recovers?

$569.99 for a capably specced all-purpose HP laptop. It's not gaming-ideal or anything but it is better than what my 4-year-old Gateway is capable of and I'm paranoid about it giving up the ghost without warning.

Or... should I hold out for an MSI or Lenovo laptop with a half-decent graphics card that's roughly twice that price?
I'm sort of kicking myself for not splurging on an upgrade last winter before the dollar crashed.

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy some home theatre speakers with a budget of ~$1000. Where would be the best place to buy them, and do you know of any good resources online for speaker reviews? Thanks!

Maybe I've had bad luck, but every single big supplier (HP/Dell/etc) laptop I've owned has been such a massive piece of garbage, pre-installed with shit bloatware that instantly slows everything down.

Wouldn't this one be better? Not that I'm up on these things but aren't Intel chips better then AMD?

Never buy an HP laptop. Never.

AMD integrated graphics are pretty good for up to low to mid-level gaming (performance wise).

It's a solid choice, check out this link for more details on the APU.

It performs similarly to i3 CPUs, but has significantly better integrated GPU performance.

That laptop should last you for a while.

EDIT: Oh shit, it's an HP laptop.

Yea, I'd probably be a bit cautious, or at least consider getting extended warranty.

Though if you shell out money for an extended warranty, you'd probably be better off spending money on another brand.

What are some good laptop brands? My 2 year old low end Lenovo refuses to hold a charge for more than 4 hours and is slow as bricks. Planning to upgrade for school this fall but not sure what I should spring for. Main priority is a 15.6" screen and a 7 hour minimum battery life. Preferably with an easy to remove battery.

Was looking at the higher end Lenovo but they have either too small of screens or only 4-5 hours of battery.

Yeah I got a 14" Lenovo Yoga 700, the battery life says 7 hours but I think I get 5-6.

I don't really need a tank, so it's okay. I understand that some people need it all day, I don't really need it to last that long.

I went with Lenovo after I found out I can't use a Surface or Macbook on the exams, made the choice easier. I was going to get MBP.

I never owned or needed a laptop until now, so wanted to get something I enjoyed using so I spent a little more than I wanted to.

New game store alert! Toronto, Kennedy and Sheppard, called Retro Game Brothers. Awesome little place. Prices were WAY better than I ever expected.

Picked up an NES and N64 game (007!).

Really nice staff. There's a website and YouTube video contest they have going on right now.

I believe Toronto has the most independent game stores in the world.

I drive past it every day and never noticed it. I'll be sure to stop by this week after work.

Cool. I'll be checking them out within the next few days.

Get this refurb ThinkPad. It even comes with a dock that makes it far easier to use as a desktop substitute when you want.

Is life is strange limited edition actually limited? Should I risk waiting for it to go down in price or jump on it with my 10$ off coupon from Amazon?

Seems like I got lucky today, went to SDM and they had a random Sony sound bar on clearance from 199,99 down to 89,99. The sound on my Insignia TV was getting worse every day, so that worked out pretty well for me.

Pretty sure they haven't announced it as a limited print, just a limited edition, so if it sells out immediately then it will almost certainly be reprinted. It could be reprinted without the LE goodies though.

I had 5 expiring Best Buy dollars so I bought it. Feels like availability will be limited so it probably won't drop in price fast, if at all.

All I know is that I wouldn't touch Dell or Toshiba even with a loaded gun pointed at my head.
And, if you're adding HP and Acer to the list then that pretty much kills a good chunk of the low-end laptop market.

I'm still leaning towards waiting... which probably means the dollar will lose another 4-5 cents next week.

Work gives me a Lenovo T460S for my job but I threw steam on there and it's running UE3 and Source2 games like butter. I'm tempted to push it harder. Anyways, not sure what it costs but highly recommend it.

I still have FS orders for FFXV and KH3 from 2013... but one of them can't even be checked online on bestbuy.ca, and the other one has no way to update payment (my CC is expiring before either game comes out). Anyone experiencing this? I still get emails for both orders, at least...

Apparently you need to call in. My card expires in the summer, so I need to wait for them to send a new one before I can update mine.
(Or can you just ask a bank for an updated card months before?)

Hear me out here.
If its just a stop gap, meaning something to tide you over until the thing you really want or can afford comes out, then first off, I would buy used off Kijiji or something.

Second, you're probably gonna sell it in 2 or 3 years, so you want something that holds its value. If you can find an affordable macbook, that's what I would get. Could probably sell it for a comparable price to what you paid for it in a couple years.

To get an idea, how much did those 2 games cost each?

007 World is not Enough was only $10.

Contra NES near mint was $50 I think. Had my eye on this for a year and never saw less than $80 at a store, and $60 on eBay (in rough shape).

I actually specifically complemented them in store on how much I appreciated that their prices were less than eBay, unlike some other players out there...

Apple with boot camp.

Seriously. Good resale and amazing battery.

You will keep it for 5+ years.

Which model is it? some of the lenovo model sucks

Edit: You may take a look at the new Thinkpad T560, releases next month, Lenovo says it has 16 hours of battery life, real life usage is probably few hours shorter than that.

I'd say Surface Pro 4. I know theres no removable battery, but after gettings used to a laptop with a touchscreen, I couldn't recommend a laptop without a touchscreen.
