Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

Man I picked the wrong winter to bulk.

On the plus side I'm thinking of selling my iPad air 2 and it looks like they go for $200 more then I paid for it 7 months ago on kijiji. I can spend that money on brocolli apparently.

The North remembers

The only thing the north I grew up in remembers is how to get pregnant at 16 and dress like 2000 Eminem.

Oh they also remember how to collect welfare.

Most in DT Toronto don't care about anything north of Bloor. Everyone else in Toronto doesn't care about anything north of HWY 7. :P

There is some validity to this. My friends live in Parkdale and around Ossington. They're more or less fine going places anywhere in downtown Toronto, even walking place to place, but ask them to go shopping for some quality clothes at a great deal or eating at a great restaurant at saaayyy Younge and Eglinton or Yorkdale and they lose all interest.

Do you shop at Whole Foods? Lol

seriously tho, that's nuts. My personal ceiling for what I'm willing to pay for cauliflower is $2.50.

I literally remember paying $3.t0 for a head of cauliflower in early October. Just bought one last week for almost $8. Something has happened that goes beyond the weak dollar.

There's a bunch of that fun here too.

West Side Vancouver, the western half of the city.
West End Vancouver, the neighbourhood at the red marker.
West Vancouver, a separate municipality north of Vancouver.

I used to also get East Vancouver and Downtown East Side mixed up.

Also, West and North Vancouver are their own municipalities. East and South Vancouver are neighbourhoods in Vancouver.

I love the Gold headphones but I've had two pairs break now. The second which Sony mailed to me is still usable for now but the tiny blue bits holding the band together have broken off.

My only problem with the Golds are comfort. Going down from my HD598s is difficult, especially with glasses on.

Got my PS4 from Dell earlier today. Came in via Purolator. Anyways, considering it came with a Silver PS Headset, this was amazing value for $330. Sadly, the Uncharted collection was a code. I know there's a newer version that comes with a physical disc instead. Gonna try to sell it on Ebay later.

I hope they were just giving themselves like...A month of breathing room.

Pushing it from tomorrow to a whole month and a half out seems weird. The 25th of *this* month would be a significant delay, let alone next.

Can't be mad though I guess, Dell does reserve the right to cancel any price issue orders, but they have not done so so they're being cool.

I'll buy Uncharted from you

How much you wanna sell it for? Fuck ebay when you can sell it on here.

I have a bad feeling about this PS4 service order I put in with Sony.

Anyone have any experience with them? How smoothly does it usually go?

I've had nothing but horrible experiences with getting serviced.

Just as an example.

My DS4 broke about a year ago, sent it in, they sent me one in far worse condition, had more issues, was completely dirty. They literally just packaged someone else's broken one and sent it to me. Had to send that one back if I wanted a proper replacement and I had to pay for shipping even though they fucked up, fucking scum. Finally, they sent me another one which worked but had visible damage. But it was one of the original batch, and it just broke a week ago. This time I just bought a new one since they're on sale.

I wont even get into detail about the other issues like all the contradicting stories and lies I was told from various reps, and the delays because I had to resend my proof of purchase because they misplaced the one I sent with the original package. Then the lack of PoP with the first broken replacement I had to send back started a whole new set of issues.

There is so much more I can say just about that single incident. But I'm too lazy.

I've also had others that were bad though. Easily the worst service I ever received from a company. Hopefully it goes smooth for you.

Sounds lovely.

I am already nervous due to the fact that they seemed to have trouble recognizing the fact that I had an extended warranty.

Also, I am not sure I am supposed to receive a shipping notice/tracking number for the coffin. I assume they will send me something.

Just call them often to get an update and always get the reps name and employee number before you start the convo, if they refuse then talk to someone else.

I spoke with one who was so clueless that after the convo I wanted an employee number and instead they just hung up, lol.

How much was the Animal Crossing 3DS? I'm assuming the Pokemon one will be priced the same.

I'm gonna have to sell my ps4 and get a pre order in for this thing, asap.

I don't want to give up my MH n3DSXL.... but then I could finally use my Xenoblade faceplates... this thing is gonna be like $290-300 isn't it?

Tempting. Waiting for that all white N3DSXL though.

On play-asia for a whopping $239.99 USD ($340ish CAD lol)

If you have any the Sony headsets, prepare to epoxy the bands because they're going to break My Pulse Elites died that way and I had to basically glue them back together.

My golds are duct taped to no end, I can't believe the plastic got so brittle after a year.

So the Pokemon n3DS is confirmed for here? I know it says "North America" but that's not always necessarily been a confirmation for Canada.

AMAZON TO THE RESCUE!!!

So I contacted Amazon about my cancelled Bayonetta 2 order. And asked why I was able to purchase it, if there was no stock to fulfill the order. The rep I got was AMAZING!

First Attempt - He found it on Amazon.com through a 3rd party seller but fulfilled by Amazon. He was going to discount the cost of that one to equal the Boxing Day sale and waive the shipping cost. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option as it wouldn't ship outside of the US.

Second Attempt - I informed him there were 3rd party sellers on amazon.ca and asked if he could just give me credit for the difference so I could buy it from that person. He checked, but was told I couldn't be offered credit.

Third Attempt - He offered for me to go ahead and purchase the game from the 3rd party seller, and he would just apply the discount to an existing order. I thought great. I'll have him apply it to my already deeply discounted MadCatz SFV stick.

At some point after that, he changed things up.

I went ahead and purchased the game from a 3rd party seller (last copy no less). Total after taxes was $104.84 after taxes (those SNES memories). He then went ahead and sorted things on his end.

End result. He applied a $72.34 refund to my credit card for this order!!!

So in the end, I get Bayonetta 2 for $32.50 total!!! No tax. No shipping.

All Shoppers around me each had a T80 steering wheel for $130... I watched them for about a year waiting for price drop. This weekend I finally spotted one on clearance for $100 so I scooped it up! Perhaps if I held out longer I would have got a better price, I'm sure nobody will buy them. But I did get $20 in-store coupon for spending that much, so I kinda got it for $80. :)

Being the first gaming wheel I ever used, I'm enjoying it!! The more reason to play Driveclub the better.

Good guy Amazon.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago. Had no idea they would oversell on it. Still concerned about the two remaining seasons I am waiting on from that X-Files deal.

Yeah that rep went over and above. I think it really is a hit or miss situation when you contact their CS reps. Some are rigid and don't try to work with you. Other's go over and above. If you're courteous from the get go, and express concern/disappointment, they're usually pretty helpful at resolving problems.

Has there ever been a case where the US has gotten something we haven't?

Ah, I misread the thread. Someone asked about Pokemon Center shipping to Canada so I assumed that they were talking about the n3DS being exclusive to Pokemon Center but they were talking about some figures instead.

Now that I think about it we have gotten most things that US gets outside of an occasional outlier like the Gamestop Monster Hunter Tri demo disk, I think there was a Hyperdimension Neptunia LE, and I remember the Ni No Kuni Wizards Edition almost not happening until some people put up a fuss.
