Not so much that it was confusing, but the film portrayed an impression that the Resistance was on the backfoot facing anhilation. My quick read of Star Wars wiki shows that the Resistance is small within the New Republic? Is the state of the Republic/Resistance/First Order really all that confusing? I thought the opening crawl laid out: the New Republic was created following Jedi, the First Order is the remnants of the Empire that wanted to keep fighting, the Resistance is the faction within the Republic looking to fight back.
But it was a mess. Especially how they constantly cut from the dogfighting to the Ewok battle scene to the lightsaber duel
This is super reaching.
Does any of the BB-8 arm discussion confirm he was flipping Finn off?

Doesn't seem to fit with the puppy dog personality they seemed to be going for with BB8.
I loved the movie, but I only really had one compliant: Why did Captian Phasma so easily submit to Han and the crew? No fight? No resistance? Just, "OK, sure, I'll turn the shields off."
Then what happens to her? She just disappears? I thought this was a missed opportunity because they built her up to be a badass, but she doesn't really do anything. She should have been the Stormtrooper fighting Finn with the battle baton. That would have established her as a threat. Oh wellz!
For what?
He did as well as Luke vs Vader rd 1. Still got a hit in.
Rey is not a Kenobi because she's a Solo. Thought it was obvious.
How Leia holds Rey in her arms, as she knows her.
How Solo asks her name and after she reponds Rey, acts all weird and offers her a job.
How Kylo acts with her, how he says to her (dont remember the exact words) 'We will be together, you dont need Han Solo'
And I think she was dumped on that planet because they failed with Ben (Kylo) and were scared it would happen with Rey.
Rey = Anakin's light side
Kylo = Anakin's Dark side
They are twins.
Yeah, I sort of forgot that after a few minutes.
Another thing I really liked was how dorky Rey and Finn were at times. Also really enjoyed the melee fight between that enhanced Stormtrooper and Finn. He be like: " Come at me, bro."
Absolutely badass.

Loved the movie. I have no complaints. I'll wait to judge the story in another 4 years. Good lord I will be 38 by the time this story wraps up.
If there are any big dogfights in VIII, I hope they don't make the same mistake. Gimme all the wings. That's not what they meant by mess. They weren't talking about the editing from scene to scene. They were talking about the number of ships in the frame, and the varying degrees of ability to discern who was doing what and where. They thought the actual dogfight part of the dogfight was cluttered and incomprehensible.
Which is wrong.
She was thrown into a trash compactor on a planet that then blows up. I'd say it's pretty clear what happened to her.
They say she will be in the next movie but they can't be that stupid after they took a shit on her character here.
About that weapon, it kind of confirms that they have fought other light-saber users no? That thing could block the light saber.

Yeah, this is almost certainly what was going on.Anyone know who the old guy poe was meeting in the beginning?
I was thinking that he seems to be like Ben in ANH watching over Rey.
Would make sense considering he had the final piece of the map to Luke. Maybe he was entrusted to watch over her and guard the map and then pass it along when the time was right.
She'll be in the next movie...
Finn has had some training. He was a rookie stormtrooper, but he was still trained enough to be sent on a mission. He faced off against that other stormtrooper who had the saber-proof stick (that's a well-prepared fella, lol). It's not like that trooper wasn't trained how to swing, so why wouldn't Finn have some skill, too? Plus Finn's special in some way as evidenced by his ability to overcome being indoctrinated since birth and be a good guy. The force awakening had some effect on him.But Finn should have been wiped out in no time flat. A lightsaber is not an easy weapon to wield, and for anyone to pick it up and start using it right away, it could be more dangerous to them than to an enemy. Remember how clumsy Luke was with it at first. And I know, some people are arguing that Kylo might not be all that good, which definitely could be true. But as someone who has trained with swords in martial arts classes, I can tell you that the difference between someone who has had some training
That trooper knew who he was. He called him a traitor. I would have liked a scene before Finn goes to save Poe where he's talking to this trooper he winds up fighting, expressing doubt of being a Stormtrooper. This dude would be all "nah" and then want to fight him later for being a traitor.
They don't even look close to the same age.Rey is not a Kenobi because she's a Solo. Thought it was obvious.

My buddy I was just talking to had a theory that Rey is for sure Lukes daughter. The reason she is on Jakku is because Luke wanted her to have the same surroundings growing up as him so that she turned to the light side the same way he did. Her finding the lightsaber and returning it to him was all part of his plan and part of her training.
He said the Force always will find balance so the reason Kylo turned to the dark side was because Luke had destroyed Vader and Palpatine so the dark side found Kylo to restore that balance. He isolated himself so that the light would guide Rey to him...
I can buy it I suppose.
i think Malakhov meant "Han knows he has a daughter and didn't know he was standing in fron of her until she told him her name"They are NOT twins. Irrespective of the actor's age differences, how does Han not know he has a daughter? Assuming he's not there for the birth, Leia keeps it a secret for what reason?
That sounds like a total dick move on behalf of Luke.
...and I like it.
The political aspect of Star Wars is really interesting, a bit more explanation and context in film would have helped.

Haha.Did this movie push anyone to watch all four seasons of HBO's Girls?
Noooooooooooooooooooo.gif
That is exactly what is wrong with the prequels.
They stop the space adventures for C-Span.
YO that's clipping :OHad some guys down in cyber crimes enhance the footage:
Definitely. They're part of a squad hunting Luke Skywalker. They'd have to be trained to take him down. Which explains how Finn even stood a chance against Kylo Ren. He had some Stormtrooper training.I bet they've had training for it, since they knew Luke was still alive. As far as actually fighting others with lightsabers, no way.
I'm inclined to say Rey is Luke's daughter(Kylo's cousin) or her parents had no Jedi lineage. The third option is she's Kylo's master's daughter before his fall.
YO that's clipping :O
Kylo Ren taking off his mask created exactly the moment the creators were hoping for. Everyone was waiting in suspense to see the super scary or striking bad guy, and instead we get someone who looks frail and unsure. He's essentially a scared kid hiding behind a mask of power and intimidation. The way they subverted the expectations of the audience was great.
