Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

So what are people doing to prepare for future Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition sales?

I have it monitored on NowInStock for Amazon.com/.ca, Walmart.ca, I'm subscribed to the thread about it on Best Buy, and I have multiple people watching it.

I really hope I don't miss it while I'm at work...

Maybe we could start a new Xenoblade Canadian shipping and discussion thread, since I appear to have intimate knowledge of every Canadian GAF member's shipping status ;)

I kid (kind of), but it's been a bit ridiculous for this game in particular.

DEAL, surprised this hasn't been posted yet

XB1 games on sale at the MS Store, plenty out of stock so you might have to try the physical store if you've got one: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store...D.69953400?Icid=12DD_Day6_EN_ModA_Xbox_120615

Highlights:
$40 Battlefront, BLOPSIII (OOS online), Witcher 3

Guitar Hero, too, if you're interested in that.

I was thinking of buying Battlefront, and $40 may seal the deal. However, I still have it from the library and got bored of it kind of quickly today so I may pass.

I got a weekend delivery today too (I'm in London). The stories are true! Not Xenoblade or any other game though. It was Better Call Saul on blu-ray.

Oh shit Battlefront actually dropped to $40. Thats the price I'm willing to pay, but I'm looking for it on PC or PS4

Yes? Battlefront is great. It was certainly worth the $55 I paid for it at launch.
It's dropped to half price in under a month and will be free in the EA Vault within 8-10 months... and before then, it could hit $29.99. So I suppose the question should be, is playing it for a few months before worth $40... and maybe it is, maybe it isn't, I have so many better games in my backlog that perhaps it wouldn't be.

But is it worth that much?

Don't think it'll drop much lower than that for Canada. If you have EA Access, it might show up on it next year. But yeah, that's a good price for it Canadian. I think it was $29.99 for the US store. Don't see it dropping much more than that. Has EA done any GotY versions of their games yet? Or do they just drop the price of the season passes?

As for whether it's worth it, I'm a giant star wars fan and shooter fan, and I still don't want it. Just seems far too limited in my opinion. Maybe once the season pass content is out I can judge. The numbers don't seem too high on the stats page for the game though.

Re: Battlefront, if I were buying it I'd rather get it on PS4... but I don't think I want it. I've been playing via EA Access (10 hours of preview) -- and enjoying it -- but I don't think it's a game I'll get much more than that 10 hours out of...

But $40 is a really good value... and the game looks amazing.

Battlefront is worth $40.

I would say balancing and the unlock system are the biggest issues (latter becoming an issue because of the former). Core gameplay is really good otherwise and refreshing considering you have to account for shot velocity and travel time and the card + pickup systems add a considerable dynamism. Lack of visual customization sucks horribly but on the flipside there's no gun bloat and every one a specific combat role which is something we don't see in shooters much anymore. I don't have a problem with the map count, but you might if you're only buying it to play one or two modes until the end of time, so that's at your discretion.

Battlefront is worth $40 if you play multiplayer often. It's a good game, with a lot of polish and a nice, clean art style.

It feels a bit lacking though.

Hmm... tough decision. It is a fun game but it gets boring after 30 minutes. There is something about it that makes me want to play it again in short bursts.

Would anyone be interested in a $25 off TheSource.ca promo code? You need to spend $150 for it to work. But it would make the New Nintendo 3DS XL $199 - $25 for example. I'm still deciding if I want it or not, but it expires soonish, so whoever PM's me first if they want it should do so now.

Lucky, mine didn't get processed in Scarborough until today so I don't see it going out for delivery until tomorrow and I'll be working by the time it arrives. ;_;

My xenoblade guide from Amazon was delivered today. I've never had a Sunday delivery before! Of course the SE from Amazon is slated to arrive Tuesday though.

An update no one asked for, my copy of Xenoblade shipped. But one question, does Amazon honour pricing mistakes made during pre-orders? I just noticed it's only 19.71, plus an additional 30% due to the E3 deal, that's nuts for a new Nintendo game!

Yes, they honour the pricing for the most part.

That Battlefront deal on the MS store made me glad I did not open my amazon copy. Returning that one to get this much better deal. Saved about $36 which is then falls in line to watch I think the game is worth.

CP tried to deliver my XBCX copy to my work, which is obviously closed today. Now the tracking says "Item redirected to recipient's new address" but I never gave them a new address... Oh dear.

Battlefront is great. If you like online multiplayer, it's a great game to dig into.

I've been working a ton of hours at work so I don't have a ton of time to play games right now. It's been a really easy to hop into and play for a few Hours whe I can.

Got my XCX SE earlier today. Best Buy actually shipped it in a box. It still had a small dent in one corner, but it's better than I expected, so no worries.

that message just means they'll try delivery again some other day to the same address

I'd wager the pre-orders for the Final Fantasy VII remake will either be changed to the first episode or remain as-is, being more like a season pass a la Life is Strange.

I wonder if they'll treat it similar to how the treated the entire Final Fantasy XIII series where they release each episode as a fully fledged game? I for one am curious to see how this turns out.

I actually accidentally ordered FF7 RE again when Amazon did their BB Black Friday 30% pre-order price match. Bless my idiocy it worked out in the end

How much will you pay for the FFVII Experience™?

seems like we were trending this way. Ground Zeroes, 2.8, Episode Duscae. All that shows the market is willing to pay big bucks for a taste of the complete thing.

That was my thought at first, it'll be a full price retail disc and then the other parts would just update in.

...But then I remembered that Square Enix likes money. It'll probably drop to $49.99 CAD once they fully unveil the plan and then other parts will pop up during E3 for pre-order.

This also means that we could see the first part ship late next year or early 2017.

Drip-fed DLC was only going to lead to this. Why even finish a product on its launch date when you can ship it partially?
