Helldivers coming to Steam December 7th, Pre-orders get Early Access

Oh the irony :p
Anyway, no one is seriously portbegging anything. I'm sure (and I hope) people are just joking around an unusual situation more likely related to a contract thing. Its no wonder why this is published by PlayStation Mobile rather than SCE.
But how do you define such thing? For example any time this was mentioned in any Bloodborne topic the topic would get derailed by players of both sides giving their reasons why the game should or shouldn't be ported to PC and that got annoying real quick. I don't care if Sony suddenly decided to start porting their games to PC like Microsoft did (unless we're talking about Games being ported to Mobile in which case I'm being totally serious about hating the platform) but I don't like is how quickly that "discussion" can derail things in a topic.

Look at this topic for example we got people thinking it's going to spur begging, actual beggars, posters imitating/mocking a would be beggar (such as my post),posters posting facts or opinions how the act of porting a would be exclusive is not wrong, posters saying that players are crazy for being happy for games to remain exclusive, and people posting reaction replys to all of the above.

Very few of these post are actually speaking about the game or the actual announcement and this whole topic of "port begging" is a landmine here on Gaf because there's no clear way to identified it.

I wonder what the reason for the lack of cross-platform play is? That seems like a strange change since Sony obviously isn't against PC cross-platform play. And this isn't a competitive FPS where the game could be impacted with controller players having aim assist.

its a very hard thing to implement

not a huge team

Psyonix recently said they sraight up won't do Party cross-play with PC and PS4 ever for Rocket League (as it works now its only with players on a private server) cause they don't have the resources

Yeah, it's a strange omission, especially since cross-play in Rocket League generated a lot of positive buzz.

People are talking about a first: a SCE owned game appearing on Steam. Now no one or close to are thinking it set a precedent or anything. Nearly everyone understands we're talking here about an indie dev which probably wanted that in their contract.

Yeah, that makes sense. I remember another developer talking about how hard it can be to implement cross-platform play. It's still a shame considering that it would've allowed people to jump in with an already established userbase.

Should have figured people have their own egos tied to their platform of choice so much so that they see this as some all evil terrible thing that some how hurt them

This sets a bad precedent imo. What is the point of this port?

Money, increased user base of fans that enjoy the game, more money from the next release etc

Things like this are a huge win for Sony, PC users, and the developer.

Sony gets a timed exclusive from a talented studio. PC users get a great game that may have otherwise not existed. The developer gets to make a game with the financial backing of a huge publisher.

Everybody wins. Yay!

see above; cross-play in Rocket League works differently as to the type of crossplay this game would need to work

I guess "strange" was poor word choice, I know it's not something that happens with the click of a button. This just seems like a title that is perfectly suited for it.

Indeed, but also not forgetting that Sony publish it on PC as well, so will get a return on what they have invested in the first place. Also good choice of game to do it with by the looks of it. I hadn't heard of the game, but the trailer already sold me.

Neat. I'd love to get more Sony-exclusive games like Stardust, Resogun, Dead Nation (pretty much all the Housemarque games lol) on Steam.

It's a shame it isn't simple. I can see this being something that might bring Gabe Newell onto Sonys E3 stage again, announcing some effort to provide tools to enable cross platform play across the majority of titles available on the two platforms. Would also be a strong part of Sonys pro indie initiative.

I don't think Housemarque games will come, they are already working on Alienation and Matterfall.

But I'm curious to know who is Playstation Mobile Inc.?

Good news for PC players, it's a great game. I understand why it wouldn't have cross-play, but I wonder if the global campaign stuff, being more back-end, will be shared.

As for other Sony games making it's way to PC, this is obviously precedent, but I'm not sure, it's probably a case-to-case thing. Arrowhead really seemed to want to do it, people wanted it so it makes sense. As for other stuff like Resogun, Housemarque seems to be more about their next thing, so I don't think they'd want to port it, and I'm not sure Sony is invested enough to put a different studio on it. This was just a case of it making sense for everyone involved

Is it actually good? I remember the GB guys liking it, but all the footage I've seen looked pretty slow and boring as far as top down twinstick shooters go.

The Helldivers Steam Trailer retains the PlayStation logo and mentions all platforms at the end (Steam but also PS4/PS3/PS Vita). So now, Greatness also awaits on Steam it seems.

As for the discussion above, I don't think PlayStation Mobile is anything different from SCE, just another name to publish on non-PlayStation platforms.

Lot of fun. Very chaotic. Movement might be sluggish but the action is frantic.

Awesome! Bought it day one but quickly stopped playing as most of my friends play on PC. Will get this version day one for sure.

This is one of my GOTY, get on it people to support this dev! 4 player coop is a hectic, hilarious, and bloody mess.

Friendly fire makes for a comedy of errors when you first start that are highly entertaining.

Look at this shit:

This same dude is in here complaining about port begging!

Lol back.

Uff, it's really hard to be a junior member here in NeoGaf.
Since i was portbegging on the Xcom thread, doesn't even come across your mind that i was kidding about bloodborne pc begging? I don't care, i mean it's a reeally good game so i perfectly understand if you want it. I was just kidding.
Jesus.

Edit: and i have a perfectly fine pc so i will play Xcom2 anyway.
