Helldivers coming to Steam December 7th, Pre-orders get Early Access

Portbegging is, when you ask for a playstation game to come to pc or xbox.
"Begging" for a PC or Xbox game to release on playstation is perfectly fine tho. As usual.

See XCOM2 related threads for example.

Please, show me proof of this double standard.

I love all the concern about port begging coming from nearly 100 percent posters that can easily be qualified as currently shitposting.

I'm so mad people are going to be able to play a game that I thought was just for me but port beggars are the real weirdos.

I just thought this was frowned upon across the board. Anyways I really hope there is cross platform play. Rocket League continues to have plenty of games available to play because of cross platform play. I hope that would be the case here.

Was something I said wrong? Or does releasing previously exclusive games on PC somehow make the PS4 more appealing to you?
Maybe you guys misunderstood me or something.

When Diablo III was released on console do people who game exclusively on PCs saw this as a bad precedent that usual PC-games only gets ported to consoles?

I know, I meant that it's not a first party game. A first party IP I would associate with devs they own.

Basically it likely means like we might see Everyone's Gone to the Rapture but likely not something like Tearaway, is what I was getting at.

Second party.

Second party does exist and it does make sense. It's when a publisher contracts an external developer to create a game.

First Party.

Officially Second Party does not exist.

You only have: First Party, and Third Party

You have First Party Developers, and Third Party Developer.

First Party games, and Third Party Games

First Party Games developed by a Third Party Dev, is still First Party Game (This union is unofficially called Second Party)

god damn this thread is some early 2000s shit

are you guys for real with this loyalty business

what?

anyway, will buy this. looked cool

Ah here we go again with PC players asking for Bloodborne.

OMG published by SONY!!!! Bloodborne and all other PlayStation Exclusives must surely be next!

You're kidding, right? I agree Bloodborne is and will remain exclusive, but why should you care? I assume you own a PS4 with which you can play Bloodborne, so you're covered. Exclusivity doesn't affect you when you already own it.

What other games were 100% funded and 100% owned by Sony that they published on PC in recent years (that originally appeared on their console)?

Does any of that really matter? I mean, sure, it's a first with those stipulations attached, but at the end of the day, Helldivers isn't exactly a title that would hurt their product if it were ported to other platforms, so what makes it really any different than their pub fund games?

Anyway, I still regret buying this game. It had a ton of issues at launch which prevented me from playing with friends. Hopefully the PC version works on day one.

What I dont understand is when does the line get crossed for port begging? Is this it?
The main problem with port begging are all the comments that usually follow after someone wish for a game for another platform. Depending on how its said, i never saw the problem with asking for a game for another platform. I see that as a positive thing, because it shows that people are interested in the game. It can be annoying if people talks shit about the current platform(s) a game is on though, but simply wanting the game on another platform, i dont see any problem with that.

I think this makes perfect sense for 2nd party downloadable games. Heck MS has been doing it for a while as well.

The traditional model with Sony and independent studios has been....

SCE Published. PlayStation exclusive forever or Self Published and co funded though Pub Fund. PlayStation timed exclusive or Console exclusive with a self published PC release in 6 months.

If SCE is opening up to the idea of PC releases for these games which normally come from developers with already established PC audiences then thats a weirdly open minded from them.

If the game is a big seller on PlayStation then they can just keep it there but for smaller sellers like Helldivers it makes a bunch of sense.

Everyones Gone to the Rapture is the game jumping out at me right now that seems it should go down this road from them.

Potential bargaining chip from Sony to normally PC-exclusive indies? Sony funds a game and makes it exclusive to PS platforms with the possibility of eventually allowing it to release on mobile platforms.

Okay, but that's not an example of it being okay for one platform but not for others. It's annoying in any thread not related to a specific port (unlike this thread).

Yeah I wouldn't go as far as to call it "double standards" because it isn't, but I just find it interesting to see how different people act in these threads. In that XCOM2 thread no one even cared about that reply.

Sshh don't tell them. Let the port begging run strong.

Release it on PS4 please.
Pretty please.

Edit: Yes this is pure port begging. I'm not ashamed of my words and deeds.

Oh the irony :p
Anyway, no one is seriously portbegging anything. I'm sure (and I hope) people are just joking around an unusual situation more likely related to a contract thing. Its no wonder why this is published by PlayStation Mobile rather than SCE.

Honestly, makes perfectly sense, because those games aren't console sellers.

Not sure about it being "weird", but I agree for the most part.

Because more exclusives is always better, plus every sale made on PSN is more profit for Sony than a steam sale.

And as I said, it sets a bad precedent, now people may wait before they buy a game "because maybe it will come to Steam sometime..."

And why would you care unless you're a fanboy that cares more about a corporation bottomline than more people being able to play a good game?

And I'm also pretty sure Sony knows a lot more about business than you will ever know, and they greenlit this and are publishing themselves.

It's over, period. Sony lost their last ace, and that's the end of their PS4 hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for PS4. Sony has nothing left, nothing they can reveal now would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in a PS4. Except if they want to play Bloodborne. Which will also come to PC at some point.

The age of Sony is done.

I think it depends on context. Bloodborne port begging has been going on since before the game was announced. It's pretty tired at this point.

Asking for ports of small games from PC devs that were published by Sony, I see that as fairly acceptable given this announcement. Rapture and The Tomorrow Children are potential titles, I think. Not for many months though.

The people who actually care about this are an extremely small amount of those who already own PS4's and are just looking to justify their purchase of the platform.

PS4 is successful not because of those people, but because of being the console with smart third party marketing deals and the right message amidst the blunders of it's competition.

True enough.
I personally bought it for exclusives, and definitely in the minority, Black Ops sells more nowadays than most exclusives for the system.

When Diablo III was released on console do people who game exclusively on PCs saw this as a bad precedent that usual PC-games only gets ported to consoles?

Well, PC isn't really a publisher like Sony so it doesn't have to make itself more appealing to customers with exclusives, I mean maybe Valve if they ever need more users but DOTA2/CSGO already do that for them and I doubt userbase on PC is dropping.
On the other hand I'd assume Sony wants as much as people they can get to buy PS4 so they need incentives.

Maybe I'm wrong, no idea.

So hype for more people to play this. Probably my GOTY, best online experience I've had since I was young playing Quake III, PSO and Diablo 2.

Happy for arrowhead and the game. Not like it's dead on PS4 or anything, but PC is where a game like this can have a community that never dies.

Wouldnt technically this be a New "Age of Sony?"

Good lord GAF is so weird when it comes to these kind of things. People should want others to be able to play good games regardless of what physical box they have. At the very least they shouldn't be angry over it.

Of course people without a PS4 should be able to play games like this. It's just when people use this as some sort of precedent for a game like Bloodborne to come to PC is when the conversation gets stupid.

Cool, hopefully it does well enough for Sony to consider bringing more of their games over.

Will this support local multi or Lan?

Cant access steam right now.

PS4 version has local co-op (up to 4), so the PC version probably will too. No Lan support though.

you mean when people jump out to defend that is when it gets stupid

"oh this means Bloodborne is coming"

*somewhat-weird-for-2015-sony-fanboy's head explodes*

who cares

consumers acting like they're on the fuckin board or something

Sure, a whole thread of unlikely presumptions is super annoying as well. Both sides of port begging arguments make for bad forum reading.

I would be all for a Bloodborne PC port, but people need to accept at some point that it's pretty much impossible and is never going to happen.

Agreed.

This is bad for future port begging...
