The only bad thing about this is it will lead to even more port begging than we have now. Otherwise it's all good. I haven't bought the game but that's mostly because it seemed like a very multiplayer focused title and I don't have anyone to play with.

More people get to play a game on the devices of their choice. Clearly this is a terrible evil that must be expunged.

Sony's best interest is to make PlayStation people's device of choice. Platform exclusives are a part of that.

“We are thrilled to be releasing HELLDIVERS™: Democracy Strikes Back on PC – our fourth game so far – and for the platform which we first started developing games on.

We have done our very best to ensure that the game will feel as good as possible when played on PC. With a wide range of graphic options, rebindable keys and an added text chat, we hope that we will meet the expectations which players have of a PC title.

Well they're obviously not going to port major exclusives (Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, etc.), but for smaller games it's a pretty good idea to get some extra sales. It's what MS is doing with games like Ori and Fable Legends. Nintendo might jump on it next gen too.

And they have enough exclusives, why shouldn't they release a few titles of choice on PC?

Because more exclusives is always better, plus every sale made on PSN is more profit for Sony than a steam sale.

And as I said, it sets a bad precedent, now people may wait before they buy a game "because maybe it will come to Steam sometime..."

So, it is only bad for sony? Why do you care?

You care more for Sony's bottom line, than those who game in PCs?

Dude, just stop

This sets a bad precedent imo. What is the point of this port?

Lmao, this post is unreal.

Wow

Ah here we go again with PC players asking for Bloodborne.

OMG published by SONY!!!! Bloodborne and all other PlayStation Exclusives must surely be next!

yeh soz m8. ps4 is pretty much dead now. RIP.

That is really interesting. What is PlayStation Mobile though ? I thought this was shut down.

This is PlayStation Mobile, Inc. They publish some app for iOS and Android and Helldivers will be the very first PlayStation published game on Steam.

Really a surprise for me, but my guess is Sony can help little games like this (and their developers) to gain some sales and notoriety.

However, Sony does not have symbiosis with the PC market like MS with Xbox <3 Windows 10, so I wouldn't expect any big PlayStation IP (Uncharted, GT, Bloodborne) on Steam.

But smaller games from external developers like Resogun, Alienation, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture... After all, why not ?

This is great news for Arrowhead here, and the perspective to go on Steam after the PS4 release can seduce even more studios to partner with PlayStation on a Sony IP.

This isn't the first time Sony have allowed a digital title to be ported to PC months after release.

It is definitely a first here, this is a Sony IP and the first PlayStation published game on Steam. This is nothing like Papo & Yo going to PC after the PS3 release, for example.
