Street Fighter V: Vega Reveal Trailer

For me, I just like doing motions. Charge is boring for me but if you like it do you bruh. I just like Vega a lot but don't use him cause of charge, so if he ain't a charge I know who I'm playing in sf5 but we all know that ain't happening.

It's been a while since i wondered, but are Capcom sticking with the western names as canonical then?

That famitsu translation makes it sound like he won't be the last Shadaloo boss.

Nope

Important:

However, if he is disarmed even once he can no longer retrieve the claw. For that reason, he can frequently unequip the claw with the move Switching Claw to prevent disarming, as well as make use of Ground Izuna Drop, which can only be used while unarmed. This allows Vega to fight based on the situation like never before!

Oh man, that's so cool. Without the claw he gains a command grab and probably his kicks will be stronger too. Maybe with the claw you fight the keep away / shenanigans game and without it he has access to target combos to pressure the oponent? Please Capcom, help us poor SFIV Vega players, we've been suffering for too long T_T

Can we make it so Chun Li's fireball isn't charge either please? Actually just do away with charge moves entirely. They're not fun.

Perhaps this may be why not:
I believe Combofiend stated that the reason Chun Li's fireball are a charge motion is because of her dominant Fierce punch (ie she could easily move around doing both footsies and throw fireballs). At least that's what Ultrachen were saying in their previous video.

They'd be fine if it didn't take forever to charge. Or stopped having dumbass motions like every charge Ultra.

That's the trade-off to keep them balanced. They'd have to change the move properties otherwise.

The B-F-B-F Ultras aren't that hard. I don't think they're any more cumbersome than 2xQCF. It's the DB-DF-DB-UF ones that are a bit much.

Seeing as these questions weren’t answered by other reports, we contacted Capcom community manager and Street Fighter V associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas for clarification. “We’re just testing him out without charge motions at this moment in time,” he explained. “It’s not final by any means. If it’s a good fit, it may stay. If it’s too strong, it could go. We were just giving players a heads up so they’re not in utter shock when they use him at Gamescom.”

The Vega name always made more sense for Vega, as in claw. He's Spaniard and Vega is a common Spanish name. How can you make more sense than that? I honestly prefer the names used in the American version. When I think Balrog, I think a big physical force, that doesn't fit a slender pretty boy.

I love charge moves. I love the varied gameplay they bring. Worried about the homogeneous changes in this game. I hope zoning and defense are also strong options as well as the extreme offense they're promoting.

Agreed. Some charge characters are needed. It adds a different element of strategy in using and fighting them.

Would they really bring Vega back and not Sagat? I find this to be an odd addition if none of the other Shadaloo bosses make the initial cut.

Yeah, likely, at least in the initial roster. Only so much space.

I don't know what to make of him yet. This could be the greatest refresh to a character, or a broken mess. It's a probably a mean of making the character more "attractive" for players.

Vega isn't exactly a popular character.

I love Sagat, but i would prefer if they left him out. He was fun in sf4, although he had tonget toned down a bit. He felt perfect in sf4, but i personally don't really want him in sf5.

I might be too used to Skullgirls' barely there charge times, but with Street Fighter it feels like I can never get the timing right. Though you're right in that Skullgirls probably balances those charge moves differently than Street Fighter does.

They're not hard, but SFV seems to do away with them. (Bison's CA is motion)

Indifferent overall, though.
Yeah, that was my train of thought. They're not impossible, but they certainly can be a pain in the ass (mostly the db-df-db-uf).

Since I first heard balrog I immediately thought of a frog. Ever since then I will always think of balrog as a frog.

Oddly enough I do not think of Bison as a bison even when I first looked at his name. Probably because its just so blatant.

Heh, Cammy's win quote against Vega: "Shut your mouth. I'm not here to listen to your drivel." XD

edit: for completion's sake, Ken's is "You think you're the prettiest, huh? Take a look at yourself now."

Bison makes more sense for Boxer because he's a dirty boxer who headbutts his opponents. Buffalo Headbutt, Dirty Bull. All his attacks are named after that convention. Balrog is a clawed monster from Lord of the Rings.

I don't know if he's playable or not, but if he is we will definitely do some videos ;)

He's the guy on the far right hand side of the character select screen.

These videos continue to show that one major thing that SFV has over other fighters is its animation quality. Vega's movements are so smooth.

As said in the other thread on this topic, Vega's (Dictator's) fighting style is a reference to Nanto Sei Ken style with glowing strikes and devil reverse. His visual design is also a reference to Hokuto No Ken (Fist of the North Star) with the shoulder, knee, and shin pads/guards.

So it makes more sense for Dictator to be called Vega, although Claw's wall dive attacks also refer to Nanto Sei Ken's attacks as well. I think Claw supposed to be a reference to the grunts of the show as they have the tendency to talk nonsense before they fight and use weapons instead of their fists, hence when loses his claw/mask he becomes weaker is some fashion.

Bison and Vega both work for dictator.
Balrog and M.Bison both work for boxer.
Vega fits for claw, Balrog doesn't.

USA wins.

Doubt that's gamersyde's guy playing, it's faster to just shoot whoever playing instead of standing in line waiting for your turn.

Actually this time it's actually some of our guys playing, I even made fun of that in the news ;)

HE HAS A COMMAND GRAB NOW
BASED CAPCPOM.

It makes a lot more sense, physics wise. I know that's a silly complaint for a game where people get uppercutted ten feet into the air but Flying Barcelona into the Izuna Drop looks janky. The super version of that is one of the dumber looking moves.
